POETS & WRITERS MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES state, national, and international prizes in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. We list only prizes of $1,000 or more, prizes of less than $1,000 that charge no entry fee, and prestigious nonmonetary awards. Applications and submissions for the following prizes are due shortly. Before submitting a manuscript, first contact the sponsoring organization for complete guidelines. When requesting information by mail, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE). 42 MILES POETRY AWARD

A prize of $1,000, publication by 42 Miles Press, and 50 author copies is given annually for a poetry collection. Current and former students of Indiana University in South Bend are ineligible. Academy of American Poets

AMBROGGIO PRIZE

A prize of $1,000 and publication by Bilingual Press/Editorial Bilingüe will be given annually for a book of poetry originally written in Spanish by a living writer and translated into English. The poet and translator will split the prize. Alberto Ríos will judge. Submit a poetry manuscript of 48 to 100 pages by February 15. There is no entry fee. Visit the website for complete guidelines.

RAIZISS/DE PALCHI BOOK PRIZE

A prize of $10,000 is given biennially for a book of modern Italian poetry translated into English and published in the United States. Self-published collections are ineligible. Maria Luisa Ardizzone, Giorgio Mobili, and Michael Palma will judge. Publishers may submit four copies of a book published in any year by February 15. There is no entry fee. HAROLD MORTON LANDON TRANSLATION AWARD

A prize of $1,000 is given annually for a book of poetry translated from any language into English and published in the United States during the previous year. Collaborations by more than two translators and self-published collections are ineligible. Ammiel Alcalay will judge. Publishers may submit three copies of books published in 2017 by February 15. LITERARY FELLOWSHIPS

Fellowships of $5,000 each are given annually to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers who have lived in the state of Alabama for at least two years. Using the online submission system, submit 10 to 20 pages of poetry or prose, a résumé, and a list of publications by March 1. There is no entry fee.
