I was born to adventurous parents in the UK on 28 January 1945. Before I turned nine, I lived in five different countries: England, Egypt, Cyprus, Mauritius and East Africa. Believe it or not, I am the son of a British spy (‘Cool’ Eh!). Dad was with British Secret Service (MI4).

When we arrived in Western Australia, the customs offices at Fremantle were horrified when Dad declared his Webly service revolver. While he was detained for questioning, my Mother, brother Frank and I stood outside in the extreme summer heat (which we all preferred to the extreme winter cold of England).
