      Outstanding! At first I thought all of the characters were too anger in tone everyone except for the profile doctor! The. I got use to the high fussing characters! Enjoyed every moment and can’t wait to read more books!

      Eve and the gang are back again and they have a real wacko on their hands. Feeney is away on vacation so Dallas pulls in a new guy from EDD. A new secondary character to bug Peabody.

      This one hits close to home, because the people being killed are known to Roarke. Some are very close, or they were. Summerset gets roped in to the drama. Which puts even more tension between Summerset and Even, and puts Roarke being pulled apart in the middle. I like that we get to see more of how Summerset ticks and why he and Roarke are so close.

      This is an addictive book and series that is worth the time and money.

      Vengeance in Death by J.D. Robb#6 "In Death" seriesThe business of death hits close to home for Lt. Dallas this time around when several murders occur which tie into her husband, Roarke's, darker past and implicate his butler, Summerset, as the prime suspect. Whoever the real criminal is, he/she is a technological genius and/or has some inside connections to Roarke's business, home life, and personal history. It will be Eve's job to see beyond the obvious to get to the real truth.We get a glimpse of Roarke's past as they make a quick trip to Dublin, Ireland, to deliver a body and attend a wake and funeral of an old friend. Hopefully, they will soon be able to return to his homeland for leisure rather than duty.There are a lot of religious overtones in this one, the murderer a delusional zealot who likes riddles and to play games with Eve, whom he/she sees as an adequate rival, even after she ends up on the killer's list of those whom God has deemed should die for their sins."Justice, Eve, is weak and thin without the underpinning of retribution."

      My least favourite so far of this retro futuristic thriller series. The depiction of Ireland & Dublin was ludicrous - stuck in the 1970s! - and the tension was a bit slack, except at the end.

      This was an incredibly exciting installment! There is a killer on the loose and he seems to be playing games with Eve. He gives her just enough hints to keep her in the game but he always seems to be one step ahead of her. The fact that the victims seem to be connected to Roarke and Summerset is her number one suspect only adds to the suspense. The mystery kept me guessing until the very end and I was satisfied by how the story drew to a conclusion.Susan Ericksen did a phenomenal job with the narration. I really enjoy the consistency that she has brought to the series and the voices and accents that she uses for the characters adds a lot to the reading. I definitely recommend this series to others who are looking for an engaging mystery. The mystery in this book was top-notch and the characters were incredibly well-done. I cannot wait to read more of this fantastic series!

With two victims tied to a decade-old secret, can NYPSD's homicide detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas find the madman before Roarke becomes his next victim?Sixth in the “In Death” series, this narrative moves some of its focus to characters who have remained on the fringe in previous stories. Here the revelations regarding Summerset’s past give a depth to the character and add to the telling of the tale, keeping the story fresh and intriguing. As always, there’s a murder for Eve to solve and a culprit to capture, but this time the killing is gritty and brutal . . . and the perpetrator is threatening her husband. Readers will find it difficult to set this one aside before turning the final page.Highly recommended.

      Eve Dallas’s loyalties are one again put to the test when her husband’s oldest friend and closest confidant, Summerset, is framed for a series of murders targeting acquaintances from his shared past with Roarke. As the evidence against him accumulates, Eve must put aside her animosity for the man in order to capture a brilliant yet deranged killer guided by a warped sense of vengeance.

      Roarke’s criminal past is front and centre in this installment and readers are treated to some compelling detail and insight into his life as a street urchin turned minor mobster in the Emerald Isle. The fact that he managed to escape the horrors of that world with his soul more or less intact is a testament not only to his strength of will, but also to his capacity for love and loyalty.

      The events of the case also bring the relationship between Summerset and Eve to the fore. While they have consistently been at odds with one another, there have also been the occasional glimpses of understanding and perhaps even respect between them. These, however, are put to the test as Summerset must reconcile his contempt for the police and the realization that his hopes for Roarke’s future will never materialize with the fact that Eve is in their lives to stay.

      The investigation is one of the more gruesome in the series this far as the killer is not averse to torturing his victims in horrendous ways. There are some excellent twists and turns although it is possible to follow the clues and figure out the villain’s identity.

      All in all, an entertaining read and I look forward to seeing more of Eve, Roarke, Summerset, Peabody and the colorful McNab in the future.

      Murder is hitting very close to home in this edition of Eve Dallas's life. Some of Roarke's old friends are biting the bullet, or should we say, just ending up dead. And it's something to do with religion, and revenge. Revenge for whom? Revenge for what? This is Eve's duty to find out before the ultimate death hits even closer to home.

      Sommerset has been set up and Eve must clear him of a muurder charge. Irish acquaintances from Rourkes past are being murdered in Ny and it looks like Sommerset is the killer. Eve and Rourke go to Ireland for a funeral and he shows her some of his boyhood haunts. We learn a lot about the past of Rourke and Sommerset and their bond.

The two men had little in common except both had ties to a secret of ten years past, a secret that involves Eve's husband, Roarke. Though the evidence is inconclusive, all clues point to Roarke's faithful butler and Eve's annoying nemesis, Summerset.

      This book will draw you in right from the start and keep you hooked until the end. The character development is very well done, the pacing and tension are gripping, and the mystery is fascinating. Vengeance in Death is a worthwhile read. You will enjoy trying to discover the mystery behind the murders, and learning more about Roarke and Summerset's past. The interaction between Ian McNab (from the Electronic Detective Division) with Eve's faithful sidekick, Officer Peabody, will draw sparks. You will definitely like this book, especially if you have already read the previous books in the series.

      Amazing. I think this is my second favorite of the series so far. Eve is nothing but the most kickass and singleminded and passionate lieutenant I have ever seen. And Roarke is the most passionate man about Eve and about things that surrounds them. Summerset won me over with this plot and I think he won a little bit of Eve too. I'm so glad the author decided to visit the whole Marlena affair ad nauseum with this book and we had some questions that were creted with the past five books answered. I really like when things between Eve and Roarke get a little shake and trouble rears its ugly head and they deal with it like normal people. Makes me love them that much more.

      Eve is tagged for a murder of a man Roarke knew in Dublin as he grew up. Then a second murder occurs. This man also has a past connection to Roarke. As Eve investigates she learns more of Roarke's past. Can she live with it or will she go all cop on Roarke?I like that we see more of Roarke's past and what he came from. I like how it forms the man. I also loved that Eve has to admit she cannot live without Roarke both to herself and him. Roarke has known almost since the beginning he needed Eve but she has been ambivalent about it. This book she finally admits it especially when she realizes she will break the rules. Her relationship with Summerset also changes. Not sure Eve is going to like the direction it will go.Love Eve as always. Roarke is one of my favorite heroes.

      Yes, it’s another five stars review for this series. Really, it’s not that I just love this series for no good reason. I absolutely love this series because it has it all: adventure, humor, romance and drama. The fact that it has a badass cop as a female main character and a sexy as hell and more mysterious than the mystery of the existence of God male main character makes this series a treat to read!The story here isn’t simple. We knew that Roarke has a dark past back in Ireland but now we are going to learn more details. And now someone that knows what happened many years ago, kills people and he has one specific goal: Roarke. What Eve will do to keep him safe?It’s true that I liked Eve since I read the first book. It’s also true that she was a woman who saw the world as black / white and not as gray. It was bothering me that she was so strict with that but soon I realized that she only needed a push to see the world and the people with different eyes. And her husband Roarke was the one who taught her that. In this story she saw Roarke’s past not as a cop but as a human who has feelings and who suffered in the hands of a monster. She accepts Roarke’s actions and she understood why he’s done what he’s done. She has changed since the beginning of the series in a very good way.As for Roarke… I absolutely love him! Badass, smart, funny and the way he wants Eve? OMG! The way he wants to protect her is beyond words! But this is not the only reason I love him. I like the fact that he wouldn’t change anything from his past. He accepts it and he doesn’t feel bad about it. In fact, I am sure that he would do exactly the same again.Peabody is as always great and I have to say that she’s a very interesting character with great development in this series and I want to see more of her in the next books. Also, I liked a lot a new character (and I hope to see him again) McNab. He was funny and smart and he was a great help in this book.Summerset is a weird character. He’s not the most loveable person but his grief for his daughter is great and with a good reason. I understand him better and I believe that he’s a kind person.As you can see, I loved everything about this book. The plot was great, the characters amazing and it was a read that I won’t forget! I recommend it to all the fans of this genre!

      Vengeance in Death was more good popcorn in this detective series set some time in our future, with cars that can elevate (if authorized) above the traffic jams. This time a religious nut serial killer seems to be after old acquaintances of Roarke, the hunkster, rich guy up from the streets, and paramour of tough and lovely police detective Eve Dallas. All evidence points to Roarke's longtime butler/valet Sommerset (could the butler have dunnit?). Eve suspects he's being set up. She has a knack for coming out on top - but will she survive this one? And will she survive all the sex with steamy Roarke or finally evaporate into joyful oblivion? Looking forward to the next bowl of popcorn in this fun series.

      This was a great addition to the series. We earn much more about both Roarke and Summerset and it was a puzzle to the very end. I'll definitely be continuing this series.

A body of a man who died a very horrific death is found and Summerset, the man servant, in the home Eve and her husband, Roarke, share is implicated. Electronic messages seem to be going out from their home. A second murder adds more tantalizing clues that lead back to Summerset and Roarke and their younger years in Ireland. It becomes a game of clues and riddles between Eve and a madman as she tries to keep the Roarke from becoming a victim.
