About this audiobook

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber comes a heartwarming new series based in the Pacific Northwest town of Cedar Cove, where a charming cast of characters finds love, forgiveness, and renewal behind the doors of the cozy Rose Harbor Inn.

Jo Marie Rose first arrives in Cedar Cove seeking a sense of peace and a fresh start. Coping with the death of her husband, she purchases a local bed-and-breakfast—the newly christened Rose Harbor Inn—ready to begin her life anew. Yet the inn holds more surprises than Jo Marie can imagine.

Her first guest is Joshua Weaver, who has come home to care for his ailing stepfather. The two have never seen eye to eye, and Joshua has little hope that they can reconcile their differences. But a long-lost acquaintance from Joshua's high school days proves to him that forgiveness is never out of reach and love can bloom even where it's least expected.

The other guest is Abby Kincaid, who has returned to Cedar Cove to attend her brother's wedding. Back for the first time in twenty years, she almost wishes she hadn't come, the picturesque town harboring painful memories from her past. And while Abby reconnects with family and old friends, she realizes she can only move on if she truly allows herself to let go.

A touching novel of life's grand possibilities and the heart's ability to heal, The Inn at Rose Harbor is a welcome introduction to an unforgettable set of friends.

Audio version. This was my first Debie macomber book and I can't say that I loved it. I was incredibly put off by the narrator's monotone/robotic voice and I couldn't help but feel like I kept hearing things repeated over and over again. Maybe had I actually read the book I might have enjoyed it more.

A charming little romance series that I'm quickly being drawn into. I really enjoyed all the characters and the little side stories each character had going on. I'm ready to dive in and see what ahead for the Inn and Jo Marie.

"The Inn at Rose Harbor" was very entertaining and I especially enjoyed the Cedar Cove character, Jo Marie Rose. There seemed to be a thread of magical thinking throughout the novel with several characters, especially in the graveyard scene. Otherwise this a great book to read in one setting and builds history for the author's upcoming release. I highly recommend this as your next summer read.

This is my first Debbie Macomber novel. I really enjoyed how it's written. It's like three ministories in one book and it keeps me from being bored. I'm not much into romance novels, but this is like fiction with a sprinkle of romance, and I loved it! Will definitely continue with the series, and will definitely check out the Cedar Cove series as well.

The Inn at Rose Harbor is a nice story. It is about people who have a lot of sad in their lives and their healing. There is no killing, violence or sex. Just a nice story. The book is recommended in this review as a little escape from the reader's life thereby receiving four stars.

The Inn at Rose Harbor (Rose Harbor #1) by Debbie Macomber

A great addition to Debbie Macomber's easy reading novels about family and friendships in a small town.
This new addition is a spin-off of sorts from her hugely popular Cedar Cove series which is now televised on Hallmark Channel. The characters at Rose Harbor are as friendly and hospitable as their neighbors in Cedar Cove. The setting revolves around a newly widowed woman who pours all her energy into the Inn which she was supposed to run with her husband. The interesting characters who come by for a visit are sure to delight.

What I am hoping is that this is a new series that I will enjoy as much as her Cedar Cove series. IN this book, Jo Marie Rose, moves to Cedar Cove and buys a Bed and Breakfast after the death of her husband of a very short time. She is pleasantly surprised by the welcome she receives from the town. We meet new residents of Cedar Cove and briefly touch base with some of the regulars from the other series. Jo Marie's first guests are wounded souls like herself and in Debbie Macomber's fashion, they meet others who help them to heal and find peace. A wonderful summer read and I am looking forward to more books in this series.

A heart felt story of healing, life, death, past friendships and starting over. I liked Jo Marie Rose, a widow who moves to Cedar Cove to run a bed and breakfast (love this part as am a consultant for B&Bs, hotels, inns) and her first guests Josh and Abby are from the area and have not returned for many years due to many heartaches and bad memories. Slowly they both began their healing and characters you will come to love. (I also liked the West Palm Beach connection). I have stayed at some wonderful B&Bs in the Puget Sound area, so made for a nice read. I look forward to more in this series!

Jo Marie is grieving the recent loss of her husband. Abby is grieving the loss of her best friend from years earlier. Josh is dealing with a lifetime of grief. It is interesting to to see how each character faces their grief and learns to heal and become a better person for it.Very heart warming story.

What a lovely and heartfelt new series from Debbie Macomber. The story focuses on three characters interrelated through their meeting at Rose Harbor Inn. Each is their own worst enemy as they are tormented in their minds by past events. There is redemption and change for the better in each of the characters. This is definitely a "feel good" read and I look forward to future installments in this series.

I agree this is truly a book for romantics. Mrs. Macomber doesn't disappoint though, I just think this type of book is for fans of Nora Roberts or Robyn Carr.

rabck tag - trade paperback advance copy. Nice sweet easy story about a young widow who buys a turn-key B&B in Cedar Cove, the people of Cedar Cove and the first two guests that Jo Marie has.

I was a little disappointed with this book because of all the coincidences. However, I did cry over Rover and Josh at the end. I will be reading the next one in the series because I just love her books.

This is the first of the Rose Harbor series. Jo Marie Rose is a young recent widow. She married Paul Rose shortly before he shipped over seas to fight in Afghanistan. Jo Marie was crushed when she learned that Paul had been killed in a helicopter crash. She was surprised at the large insurance payout that she received but it allowed her to change her life and to move one without Paul. This is a very heartfelt and somewhat emotional read and a wonderful beginning to the series. Its well written, easy to read and has wonderful totally likable characters. I do hope there will be more to this series.

I enjoy Debbie Macomber's style of heartening writing. The story centered on love, loyalty, forgiveness, understanding, grief, and God. Macomber shows that life is not always picture perfect and that struggles are an everyday occurrence. But life can be rewarding when a person works through the problems. I enjoy the new characters of Cedar Cove, but only wish that the wonderful setting played a bigger role. I look forward to seeing the new program on Hallmark featuring Cedar Cove, Washington.

This is set in Cedar Cove, but this isn't part of that series. Some of the characters from that series make an appearance, but you don't have to be familiar with that one to enjoy this. We have three interwoven tales here involving the innkeeper and two of her guests. The innkeeper's story is told first person, while the guest stories are told third person. This takes a little getting used to, but it is an effective method. All the stories involve loss and reconciliation, and are well told. I quite enjoyed this outing, and look forward to the next in the series.

I was immediately caught up in the story and the characters in The Inn at Rose Harbor. The story is delightful and calming. You know that the Inn will be a healing place for Joe Marie Rose, the young widow and owner and for any troubled guests. Josh and Abby, the first visitors to the Inn, arrive with troubled hearts. Facing their pasts helps each of them find the peace they needed to move forward. I am looking forward to reading the next in this series.

A quaint and heartwarming story. I loved the fact that you had three different stories going on that only really had the inn in common. The characters were real and you felt for their person struggles and rooted for them to recover from their different pasts and scars. Macomber didn't disappoint in leaving us with love in our hearts and wanting more.

The Inn at Rose Harbor by Debbie MacomberLove this book just for the knitting mentioned and how I can totally relate to having more than 3 projects going at one time.Jo Marie had relocated to run the existing B&B after her husband Paul passes away in the war.The book follows her life and interactions with other local people and protectors.Josh Weaver is a guest at the inn and is in town for just a few short days to reclaim things his stepdad has kept at the family house. He is on his deathbed and a nearby neighbor has watched out for him for months. He just wants his letterman jacket and his mom's bible.Abby Kincaid is back in town after leaving when her girlfriend dies in a car crash that she was the driver. Her brother is getting married and her parents and aunts and uncles will also be at the wedding. She has a few chores, left undone to complete.Seems as if Jo Marie will return for more guests. It's a house that leaves one in peace, all that cross its door.Look visiting again with just a few locals-a little at a time so as not to be become confused. It's at a nice easy pace but moves along.Comes with extra things at the end of the book.

Coping with the death of her husband, she purchases the newly christened Rose Harbor Inn and sets out to begin her life anew. Yet the inn holds more surprises than Jo Marie can imagine. In this first book in the Cedar Cove- Rose Harbor series, Macomber links the stories of Jo Marie and her first two guests...Abby and Josh...through the common themes of love, loss, forgiveness and second chances. Macomber's books are gentle and satisfying with quirky characters, humor and romance. I look forward to reading the next book in the Rose Harbor series.

I received this book through the Early Reviewers program, although it appears to be a re-release of a book published in 2012 rather than an actual new title. The book was a warm, fuzzy read. It follows three people at a bed and breakfast: the new owner, Jo Marie; Josh Weaver, her first guest; and Abby Kincaid, her second guest. The three stories are entwined yet separate, with interactions at the B&B interspersed with their activities out and about the town. It was a pleasant read, good either for the beach or a rainy (or snowy) day or evening in front of a fire. It was also well-written, which is always a plus for me since many authors these days seem to feel using proper grammar is optional. There was a teaser from the sequel included at the end of this book, just enough to make me want to see what happens next in Jo Marie's life.

The Inn at Rose Harbor was a widow's second chance. The book tells 3 stories of loss & healing. The Inn at Rose Harbor was an emotional tear inducing novel. I don't always like the tearjerker type of novel but this worked for me. Jo Marie was as so sweet & such a good hostess, I can't wait to read more from this series & will dream of being a guest at the Inn.

After reading Rose Harbor in Bloom I knew I had to go back and read, The Inn at Rose Harbor. This is where you will meet Jo Marie Rose the owner of Rose Harbor Inn in Cedar Cove. I immediately fell in love with Jo. Debbie Macomber created a warm character that needed healing and peace. Jo is a person that we can identify with. As I turned the pages and met all the other broken people in this story I knew that peace and healing was needed in my life as well. If you haven't read The Inn at Rose Harbor I encourage you to do so. Once again I wasn't disappointed in a Debbie Macomber book. I can't wait for the next book in this series to be released.

I really enjoyed listening to Lorelei King narrating this story. It is a light read and I could easily listen while cleaning, cooking and driving. I look forward to more of Debbie Macomber's books and especially anything narrated by Lorelei King. I also plan to check out the Hallmark series Cedar Cove that is based on Debbie's books.

Jo Marie, who was recently widowed, takes over a small B&B where she believes she can find healing. She renames it Rose Harbor Inn and gets ready to welcome her first two guests.

Josh has returned to the town to visit his dying stepfather. They never had a good relationship, but he hopes to retrieve a few of his mother’s treasured possessions.

Abby has returned to the town for her brother’s wedding. She is very anxious about being there, as she thinks that everyone hates her.

The story is told from each of these three perspectives in turn, which mostly works well. I really wanted to like this book. The setting is gentle, the people likeable, the stories, if a little predictable, could have been moving and uplifting.

Unfortunately, much of it was rambling and repetitive. Particularly in the middle sections, every implication was spelled out; nothing was left to my imagination or intelligence. I also found many of the conversations to be rather dull. I was not interested in exchanges about whether or not someone wanted coffee, and whether they would like milk or sugar. They took the story nowhere, and I felt that the book would have benefited greatly from some significant editing.

And yet, there was something about this book that was surprisingly appealing. The three main characters somehow crept under my skin; I was sorry to turn the final page and to realise I had to say goodbye to these three people who had started to feel like friends.

So in the end I would give this a cautious recommendation, if you enjoy gentle, heart-warming stories and if you don’t mind a somewhat rambling style of writing. Three and a half stars would perhaps be fairer.

Super easy read and very much a feel good kind of book. I accidentally read this one, as the cover resembled one on my TBR shelf. I decided to keep going with it once I realized my error and had an enjoyable afternoon wrapped in the story.

The story takes place in Cedar Cove, Washington where JoMarie Rose has just purchased a B&B. Still grieving for her husband who was killed in Afganistan, she is ready for the next challenge in her life. The story revolves around her settling in (and I anticipate will continue into multiple books with her), as well as the storylines of her guests.

The guests include Abby, who is filled with grief over being the driver in a car accident that took her best friend 15 years ago, and Josh, who comes at the end of his ailing stepfather who has always been harsh with him. Both stories are engaging as both of them come to face the issue that is truly in play in their lives.

Not a super deep read, but perfect for that break between heavy content books. Kind of a nice one to stumble upon.
