It was more a 3.5 star reading than a 4. The beginning of the book was great, but then everything just didn't' feel that great for anybody anymore. Usually what you have when you're reading a Breed novel is the incredible attraction between H/h and then all those hot sexy sex scenes and the always present Council bad guys. Here, we got a couple who had the amazing sexual attraction, but it didn't quite work as we would've thought it would. Mica was great and I felt for her the entire book and gave her all the reasons to just strangle Navarro and be done with it. Navarro had all the recessed Breed problem, but I think that excuse only went so far into explaining all the things that were happening. In the end he managed to redeem himself a little, but this one is definitely not on my top Breeds book list.

I like this story, in spite of the frustration with characters I felt pretty much the whole way through. Navarro really had me cringing in parts, and I wanted to slap him and Ely a few times. By the end of the book I was of course happy again, but it's all those twists and turns, ups and downs that make it an entertaining book.

    Quickie Review
This book is just BAD. Terrible editing, awful characterization and disjointed narration.

Navarro and Mica's romance is virtually non-existent except for the sex scenes (which are becoming exceedingly repetitive) and neither character is particularly interesting or likeable.

Leigh needs to get a move on with Cassie's story or I will fast be losing interest in the rest of the series.

A little less conspiracy, which is great, but still too much conspiracy for my liking. When a guy is bad in this series, somehow he is also able to circumvent all logic and compel people to turn traitor for the stupidest reasons. The relationship was also pretty standard for the series. Meh.

Every once and a while I get on a Lora Leigh kick. I find her breeds series extemely entertaining and a wonderful way to relax with a light, easy read. That being said.....this book left me feeling extremely disappointed, more so than any of her other novels thus far for two reasons. (1)It seemed to end abruptly. Did anyone else get this feeling? Navarro and Mica's relationship was rocky at best and them BAM! all of a sudden they were great. Leigh never went into any length at all about how they were going to resolve their problems. I have to say, when I turned the page and read the word Epilogue at the top I was shocked and could have sworn that there needed to be at least 50 more pages to go. Secondly (2), Mica was pregnant with a baby boy and this never got explored AT ALL. It was never even discussed with Navarro, who you know would have deep issues to deal with due to his complicated past.

As much as I like the breeds series, this one left me vastly underwhelmed.

Mica, is protected by the breeds due to her relationship with them. Mica is then attacked when she is alone, and in danger, and there is no one that knows how much danger she is in. She is then attacked and on the run from council coyote breeds who are out to get her so they can kidnap her and use her as leverage...but then she is rescued by Navarro, whom even though he is unsure whether Mica is his lifemate wants her with a desperation and craves her like he has no other. Mica even though she wants Navarro, she knows they have no future because of the type of breed he is where he could never come to love her....since she doesn't know if he is even capable of such emotion.Navarro's Promise is the 24th in the Breed series by Lora Leigh. I have really loved this series....and I found that this was a exciting one....and having seen Navarro in previous books in the series...I have been looking forward to his story. What this story really boils down to is how we see Navarro who is suppose to be unable to feel unable to have emotion such as love...only he learns that Mica is the one who can change things for him. There was a dangerous element as well to the plot.....and the sensual side was very steamy...but defintiely a powerfully seduction read that will make you go wild!!!

I don't expect much from paperback romance series (except for a healthy dose of sex scenes), but I at least expect narrative continuity. In the final pages of the book there is a narrative jump from Mica and Navarro kissing in an elevator to them naked in bed being confronted by the bad guy. I know what happened in between, but within the space of a page turn M & N are magically transported to another room and slightly into the future with no break in the pagination.I blame the editors, who should have caught such a blinding oversight, and the author for reaching her page limit, found out she couldn't fit the whole story, and decided to leave out 10-20 pages (not sure if this actually happened, but it seems rather likely).

Another entirely forgettable entry in the series.

Normally, I find these stories compelling enough to ignore the (many) inconsistencies. This one, however, had too much makes-no-sense for me to get into it at all. On the plus side, I didn't pay for it and it took very little time to skim (which is the only reason it wasn't a DNF)

Navarro’s Promise centers on the problem around Micha’s and Navarro’s mating and what goes wrong with the mating heat. Since Navarro has recessed genetics, his mating hormones are not as abundant as normal Breeds. Once he does mate with Micha, he tries to hold back his emotions, because of his training. Unfortunately this decreases the mating hormone in his system, but not in hers. This comes across to Micha that Navarro is “running out or away” from the mating and she feels rejected. She feels rejected not just by his feelings but now by his body. As like all Breeds, for Navarro, this has to do with fighting the animal within. Once he lets his recessed genes surface, so does the mating hormones come out. But it is all or nothing, because apparently, he needs to bring emotions as well to make everything work for the HEA. There is some insight into Cassie and Phillip Brandemore but the real focus is our main characters. There is a lot of heat in the book, little plot, very little on other characters or main story lines. The beginning starts strong but the ending is weaker and there are some major editing issues that make the end confusing. I found this a pleasant, enjoyable, read, but not one of her best.

A solid addition to the series. If you haven't read other books in the series, you will be lost. But this was a nice change and had some twists that were different from the other recent books - which, with the exception of Jonas' book, had gotten a little repetitive. The author definitely has an overarching plot line in mind and you can tell this book is moving the plot line forwards. It can be frustrating to see this develop at the expense of the current story but I'm really interested in this series and can't wait to see where it goes...

Another good addition to Leigh's Breed series, with some new developments in the mating heat science. Mica is Cassie's best friend and has apparently been avoiding Navarro - they get stuck together since some people decide Mica is a perfect person to kidnap. Mating ensues with trauma and drama. I wonder when Leigh is giving Cassie her own book?
