About this audiobook

HER LOVE HAS COME ALONG . . .
Amy Michaels loves her new life in Lucky Harbor. A waitress in the local diner, she's looking forward to her first weekend hike through the mountains. But when a wrong turn takes her off the trail, she finds herself up close and personal with forest ranger Matt Bowers. And even though she's tempted to kiss that sexy smile right off his face, she won't make the mistake of getting involved with the town heartthrob.

A former cop whose life went south, Matt doesn't let anyone get too close. But something about the feisty beauty caught his eye the moment he first saw her in the diner. After a hot night under a starry sky, Matt can't deny their attraction-or the fact that for the first time in a long time, he feels the stirrings of something more. Now it's up to Matt to help Amy see that, no matter what is in their past, together they can build a future in Lucky Harbor.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series! I love when the authors write from the Hero's point of view, and Shalvis does this about 50% of the time Which is awesome in my book! She matches the character's up well and I just can't wait to continue the series!

Vintage Shalvis. I think I liked this the most of this series so far. Everything wasn't as smooth going for the heroine, real issues and no insta-family. The hero had issues, too, in theory; but they weren't really that big of a deal. I did appreciate that Shalvis used a different set up for the hero than dead partner (police partners, that is).

Quick, very quick, read. If you loved Lucille in the previous books you will love her here. I appreciate, too, that the men in this arc (as in the previous one) have BFFs, too.

I liked how Amy and Matt were on their own journeys to recover from past mistakes and how they encouraged each other to forgive themselves. I really enjoyed how the heroine was focused on her own recovery more than on finding a boyfriend, and it made sense to me that she couldn't trust the hero as a possible boyfriend without gaining faith in herself. That said, while I appreciated the steps their relationship took, because of the trauma that each of them was still dealing with some of the emotional reveals/trust-building happened a little too fast for me to really buy into.

This is the first of the Lucky Harbor books I read and it started my downfall to all things Lucky Harbor. I read this one back in June so again this will be a brief overview.

    I liked:
    - Amy and Matt. They both have their own unique angst so it's nice.
    - I love how Amy is her own woman and she makes no apologies for that.
    - The story line was solid and there is nothing I didn't like about this book.

I liked the plot of this story and all the issues it dealt with but the characters began to think about their insecurities too much and the heroine waffled between being strong or weak. Waitress Amy get lost while hiking in the mountains and forest ranger Matt comes to her rescue.

Really, I think I'm just going to give up picking out a favorite from this series. Another very great and cool and romantic and funny and everything all wrapped up in one nice little book. And Matt and Amy was a slow build up all the way from Chloe's book, which made the whole thing that much more enjoyable.

4.5 stars, but this time I'm rounding up.

I don't know how she does it, but Jill keeps managing to create these swoony, lovable, hot as hell heroes for us to fall in love with. And, Matt? Unf. Matt is definitely up there in my favorites. With his gruffness and his humor and his undeniable affection for Amy? I'm a goner. And Amy, the heroine, was wonderful. She was a tough as nails woman, trying to make her own way. I loved that her softness came out with her friends and with Matt; it allowed us to see a different side of her that was completely welcomed.

The thing I liked most about this book was that though it was a contemporary romance and had the lighthearted feel that contemporary romances do, it wasn't a happy-go-lucky story. It dealt with heavy problems and the fallout of unforgettable circumstances.. And the reason I liked that so much was because it forced Jill to take us on a slight detour from her usual formulaic plots. It was a refreshing change.

Another fabulous book in the Lucky Harbor series. Definitely a must read.

I really like these Chocoholics books. I was a bit nervous about Amy. She came off as stubborn and closed off in the last book. And she was, but Shalvis made it work. I ended up really liking Amy. She was tough, but she had a soft underbelly which made her relatable.

I expected to like Matt based on the previous book and I did. I did find his guilt complex a bit over-the-top.

I found this one to be darker than some of her others. There was still that trademark Shalvis humor, but the overall tone was darker than some of her others. It worked well with both Amy and Matt's past history.

A recent addition to the Lucky Harbour family, Amy is happy with the way things are going. She loves her job at the diner, her new chocoholic friends and the new feeling of things finally coming together. The only fly in the ointment is the sexy Park Ranger who just won’t leave her alone. Matt is gorgeous, caring and makes no bones about wanting her; he is too much of a temptation. She has sworn off sex having spent far too many years using it to get whatever she wants. Lucky Harbour is her escape from the past, but her feelings towards Ranger Hot Buns is threatening all the foundations she has started to put into place.

Matt came to Lucky Harbour to leave behind his past. He has been through the emotional works, with a betrayal from his former police partner and the breakdown of his marriage in his very recent past. He doesn’t want to get involved in anything serious with Amy, but the attraction he feels towards her is too strong to deny. He goes to the diner where she works every day, he constantly stares at her and there isn’t a person in Lucky Harbour who is unaware of how he feels towards her.

Amy’s main reason for coming to Lucky Harbour is try to connect with the peace that her late Grandmother found many years ago in the town. Amy has no family anymore, driven away by a combination of her previous behaviour and an inexcusable breach of trust by those supposed to love her unconditionally. This trip is about feeling like she isn’t alone anymore and so she follows the paths described by her Grandmothers journal, desperately searching for happiness. When she gets lost on a particularly nasty trail, she sends out an SOS to the chocoholics. But they don’t come for her, they send Matt instead. Ignoring their chemistry is easy when you are surrounded by people; when it’s one on one, it’s a lot more difficult. After a falling tree leaves them alone in the woods together overnight, it becomes crystal clear to both of them that avoiding this issue is no longer an option.

Neither especially wants a relationship, both too scared by the hurts of the past. Of course they agree to a sex only relationship, but all us Romance readers know that is just an excuse to get physical contact without admitting to any emotional connections. Can they keep up their sex only relationship or will they let it fall apart because of fear of being hurt?

Here in the UK, Jill Shalvis is a hard woman to find books by. This series is especially difficult to find, only available on book depository in paperback format. I will be buying every single title in this series for my keeper shelf and I recommend that anyone who has a fondness for contemporaries does the same. This is actually my favourite of the series because the emotional depth of the story brought an extra oomph to a tale I was already looking forward to.

Matt is just a yummy man who has been hurt by a lot of people in his past. He can’t deny his feelings for the prickly Amy, but he won’t admit the full depth of them to anyone, including himself. When she offers up a sex only arrangement, he nearly bites her hand off for it. Unfortunately, this means spending time with Amy, something that they have both managed to avoid in the 6 months they have been circling each other. As he finds out more about her, he starts to realise that there are reasons for the back off attitude. He starts to try to unpick the twisted web of her past and in doing that he starts to care. It isn’t long before he realises that he is kidding himself if he thinks he can carry on. I love, love, love Matt. He is my favourite hero of this series.

Amy is an awesome heroine but man has she got issues. Her past choice of using sex to get what she wants backfired spectacularly, so she steers clear of men and has remained pretty much celibate for a while. She can’t help but be drawn to Matt; he’s sexy, strong, protective and kind. When he brings Riley home from the woods, a young runaway who reminds Amy so much of her younger self, I think she starts to crumble a bit. He is completely aware of the way to handle the troubled youngster and Amy starts to see the man past the hot shell. The majority of this tale is about Amy’s emotional journey, how she learns to let people in and believe they care about her. I answered a question yesterday on who I like best out of the hero and heroine in a book and my answer was that to truly love a book I have to love them both. In this book, that was definitely the case. I adored Amy and fully routed for her changes....I also loved her spunkiness J

Did I believe in the love story? Yes. Did I want the love story to happen? Yes. Ever since I met these two in book four, I have wanted to see if that chemistry could run to something deeper. Once I started to read the emotional trauma that Amy had been through, my heart bled and I wanted to her to find some sort of happiness. I’ll admit I really wanted it to be with Matt just because he treated her like a princess, but I think I’d have been happy if she just found somewhere to belong. Please don’t mistake me, I was sympathetic to Matt’s emotional baggage too, but it wasn’t the complete betrayal that Amy had seen. I wanted Matt to be happy because he really deserved to be. He was a lovely lovely man who showed compassion to even the most damaged (whilst being a real stickler with the rules...)

The sex was awesome. Honestly it was clammy palm inducing sex that set me up to be hot and bothered for the duration of the tale. Matt was real thoughtful in the bedroom department which only made me love him more. He had that whole big and in charge thing that I particularly like, but his affection for Amy shone through each and every scene. I don’t have a favourite...I loved them all!

Overall, this is my favourite book in the Lucky Harbour Series. It may also be my favourite book of the moment. With a hot Park Ranger, a damaged yet spunky heroine and a whole host of charming side characters, it has something for everyone. I love Lucille and her Facebook wall too....

Amy Michaels gets lost in the woods, alone and inappropriately dressed with no idea of how she is going to get out of the mess she is in. She started her journey to look for a mysterious spot her grandmother wrote about in her diary. She is looking for the answer to finding peace in her life.Matt Bowers is a forest ranger who rescues Amy when she gets lost on her trek. Having been a soldier and then a cop, he has found this new job to be perfect for him, including rescuing the occasional pretty girl. His nickname around town is “Ranger Hot Buns”. Both Amy and Matt are attracted to each other but they both have baggage in their lives that makes it almost impossible for either one to think about a long term relationship. They dance around each other, much to the amusement of their friends, and finally decide to start a no strings relationship. This is a tried and true plot in romance novels but in this case, it seems perfectly appropriate for two people so dragged down by their past. The addition of Riley, a teen runaway who Amy befriends, provides insight into Amy’s past and into why she acts as she does towards Matt. Her relationship with Riley also sets up a situation that could be the undoing of Matt & Amy’s fledgling relationship. I enjoyed reading this book even though Amy could be a little exasperating at times. She and Matt have great chemistry and it was interesting to see her go from being a self-hater to a person ready for and open to love. Matt also had to move on from his broken marriage and let go of his self-blame. The support of their friends is a big part of how they are able to do so. It was fun to see Mallory and Ty continuing in their romance from the previous book and turning the tables on Amy and Matt. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!
