About this audiobook

Don't miss Evermore, the first book in Alyson Noël's #1 New York Times bestselling The Immortals series. Enter an enchanting new world where true love never dies. . .

After a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever Bloom can see people's auras, hear their thoughts, and know someone's entire life story by touching them. Going out of her way to avoid human contact and suppress her abilities, she has been branded a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste.

Damen is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy. He's the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head—wielding a magic so intense, it's as though he can peer straight into her soul. As Ever is drawn deeper into his enticing world of secrets and mystery, she's left with more questions than answers. And she has no idea just who he really is—or what he is. The only thing she knows to be true is that she's falling deeply and helplessly in love with him.

Great book even though it’s not about vampires it’s still a great book I would highly recommend it

I think this book is GREAT for teenagers looking for just a little bit of romance and a story about the supernatural world. I think it was well written. While there were some similarities between this book and Twilight, this book puts its own spin on everything and in the end, is much different than Twilight. It’s an entertaining read and there is a big twist at the end of the book that was great!

This series was an incredible disappointment. It was like a trainwreck... I couldn't put it down, not because it was enthralling to read, but because I felt a compulsion to count exactly how many times the author used the words "gaze", "peer", "squint", and a few others. Really terribly written. I am not sure how this series made it into the New York Times Bestsellers list. The storyline is similar to the twilight series, so if you've read those, steer clear of these. The storyline will seem quite redundant. What can I say? Just not very imaginative or creative, and the verbage is grueling.

I was probably expecting too much from this book. I heard that it was like Twilight but better, when really it was the opposite. Maybe I just didn’t understand it, but all the way through I thought ‘if this is the love interest, then why is he so uninterested in her?’ A little bit predictable too, but an alright read if you can get into it.

I truly enjoyed this novel. There were hints of Twilight in here however it had it's own twists and turns. Ever - What a beautiful name for a character, she is haunted by her families death until she can finally let it go with the help of her handsome dark and mysterious boyfriend. The teens were well portrayed in this book. A very good Read and was very glad to add it to my collection.

So many parallels to Twilight - will definitely recommend to Stephenie Meyer fans. Kept putting this down to read other books in between, but now that I finished it, I want to read the next one.?

My best friend had recommended this book to me a while back, and it wasn't until only recently that I decided to try it. I wish I'd read it sooner. This book is so amazing, so captivating, so surprising, that I found myself dreaming about Damen (mostly) and Ever, the two main characters of the book. I loved loved loved loved the ending, it's exactly what I could have hoped for. And although this book was very dramatic, I found myself laughing at Damen, how he was so eager to get physical and inside her "pants, petticoats..." and so on. This is a love story, one that lasts hundreds of lifetimes, is full of murderers, and has a beyond amazing ending. Can't wait to read the next one!!!

This book wasa a complete waste of time to read. It is a sad attempt to recreate a Twilight saga, and Twilight is so utterly terrible, so these books are even worse. I wish I had not wasted my time with this book, but read something more beneficial and substantial. This book was shallow with no theme, just a run-of-the-mill Twilight attempt.

I kind of liked the story, but the writing seemed a bit disjointed at times. The dialog was just kind of off, like trying to explain the plot through conversation in a way that just didn't feel real. I hated the way Drina did the whole "let me fully explain my every motivation, your previous history with Damen, and other random information as I'm attacking you" thing. But, again, I liked the story. I've read the reviews where this was compared to Twilight, and I can see some similarities, but the way that it differed was in that Ever was not obsessed with Damen to the point she felt her entire existence was dependent on his being with her. And there were many other differences too, of course. I may at some point read the second book in the series in the hope that the writing style improves, because the story itself is interesting and it kept me reading it regardless of the flaws.

So......I spent 68% percent of this book reading Twilight. Not literally. But as in it was Twilight, not even thinly veiled, exactly the same story with different names until 68%. It almost had me crawling away from the book as fast as I could go at times.

At least once the plot twist showed up is was different. Odd, and differently different.

Started out with the typical "hot new student transfer has to take empty seat beside quiet awkward girl". Followed usual tropes after that. Decent read, but I don't feel an urgent need to pick up the rest of the series.

16-year old Ever is in a car crash with her family and their dog; she is the only survivor. She has since gone to live with her aunt in California. She can also suddenly see people’s auras and hear people’s thoughts. Not a fun situation. Though she used to be popular and beautiful, she now hides behind a hoodie and plays loud music to drown everything else out; she’s a freak. When a gorgeous guy starts school, she cannot figure out if or why he might be interested in her. I really liked this. There were shades of Twilight and Sookie Stackhouse, each for various reasons. I liked both the storyline with Damon, the boy at school, and the one with her ghost sister, Riley.

Another fantasy book about immortals. I have thing for this genre.

It's almost romantic that Damen has travelled through time and space to find Ever. But its super creepy too. He's like the ultimate stalker.

    Weird.

It's a hopeless love story. Full of all kinds of hardships and tragedies.

But we all know it works out int he end.

[Monday, January 4, 2010] I'm enjoying this book but the author is amateur and she is obviously a fan of Stephine Meyer. I wish Riley wasn't in the book. I mean the author wants Ever to have so many powers that she doesn't value which is totally bull! She can see the dead and talk to them, she can see some kind of "aura" around people, she reads their minds, she can touch a book and know it by heart, she doesn't have to study, she can always know the right answer! You see where I am going with this!! The author should choose, or at least make the main character more interesting and interested in her gifts!! Weak book.

[Wednesday, November 20, 2013] Years ago, I couldn't finish this book and I felt sad because I loved the cover. I almost forgot the story-line so a few days ago I started the book again and I was surprised of how much I liked it! I guess my taste changed or I was in a certain stage that I couldn't enjoy this book. Because right now, I can't put it down. See?! Things change!

[Monday, December 2, 2013] It took me three years to finish this book. I read half of hit in 2010 and than couldn't continue, but because I hate giving up on things and not finish them, I returned to this book a few days ago. First thing, this book doesn't hold a candle to Twilight. Bella Swan is one of my favorite female characters and the whole concept of Twilight is full-rounded, I hate it when authors try to stab another author with between the lines metaphors but imitate them as well; with that said I got to say that I wanted to throttle the author and Ever more than once. The conversations and characters study was so weak and unrealistic. I mean, she created a world with new laws, might as well have convinced us with it, the conversation between the characters and their feelings didn't feel real at all to me, Ever bored me to death with all her stupid ideas and stubbornness and stupidity! Ugh, I could go on and on... but I don't feel like it. The book is okay but not great. At least I'm done with it.

This book was written well and the story flowed nicely at times. The fact that the author over explained everything did not ruin the tale. It had a very similar feel, Twilight anyone ? But not as well done. I enjoyed it enough to read the next story but only from the library I would not buy it.

It was interesting. Ish. To me, it sounded like the author was reading Twilight and wondered how her characters would react when confronted with an Edward of their own, and so wrote a book about it. Except she realized that hot vampires were rapidly becoming cliche, so he's not a vamp. But what he /is/ isn't very imaginative, and I don't like the way everything in this book seems to revolve around him sleeping with her. To me, it seems like this series is gravitating towards a giant sex scene at the end. Not something I care to read. This book didn't really introduce anything new, or even minorly original, just gave a slightly different twist to old things. Not worth reading.

This book was kind of boring, in that it is following a very popular formula. Girl meets boy, thinks there is something different about him, finds out there is something different about him and then finds out there is something different about herself as well. It isn't bad, just not that interesting.

This book has been on my to-reads for a really long time now...and based on the reviews I've read, I wasn't expecting much.
Evermore is about a girl who gains physic abilities after a tragic accident. She can now hear people's thoughts and see the dead. So she avoids pretty much everyone, until she meets Damen, a person who's thoughts she can't hear. Then as the two get to know each other, their relationship grows, and Ever finds out Damen's been keeping secrets. And she wants to find out what.
The first half of the book was really irritating. I have to say Ever's and Damen's relationship was one of the most frustrating relationships I have ever read. It was unbelievable how she kept forgiving him over and over again. But then, later on in the story, I found out why Damen acted the way he did. I enjoyed the book much better after that.
After reading this book, I thought it wasn't as bad as some of the reviews I've read, but it wasn't that great either...I am looking forward to reading the next book.

It seems like to me, the bigger the bandwagon, the slower I am to jump on it. That was totally the case for me and Evermore. This series was huge when I was in high school, but I was already over the vampire craze and never picked it up until recently. To be honest, I felt like this book could have been so much more. I didn’t hate the writing at all, it was pretty good actually. My decision to DNF came down to an *intense* dislike for Damon and the utterly ridiculous lives the main characters live.Yes, I do understand that I picked up a vampire romance novel. Yes, I get how it might sound silly to want a believable plot line, but is it really? In a recent review, I complained that one of the issues I had for that particular book (Fiend) was that the writing was so out of the box I couldn’t connect. It seems like I had a similar issues with the plot for Evermore, but in a different context. When I found myself seriously wondering if I could burst a vein by excessive eye-rolling, I just had to stop reading. As for my intense dislike for Damen, well… He was a douche. He constantly flirted with other girls while leading Ever on, and then had the balls to be confused by why Ever was so upset with him. Gee, I dunno… because you’re an asshat that would rather be mysterious and play games than to give an honest answer. And please don’t say “you just have to read the rest of the series to understand why.” I don’t really want to read more. I want to find another vampire series, satiate my craving for fangy love stories and forget I ever attempted to read Evermore.

Oregon is nice and beautiful beyond great description and its filled with plenty of forest for any hikers dream. The unfortunate side sometimes is all the wildlife which is what causes a wreck when a deer runs in front of Evers parents car. The wreck leaves Ever all alone with a loss of both parents her sister and their dog. We pick up with Ever while shes still coping. The lucky side is because of this accident she gets some new traits and abilities that lets her read emotions see things and hear things that she couldnt before. Whereas this can be daunting and a lot to handle because if the sheer size of Laguna Beech and that area with all the people crammed in she has her sisters ghost to keep her company and remind her shes not really alone. Then one day while shes got her routine down in walks amazing Damen and who world flips again. Through many events some funny some sad some happy and some more tears we watch as Ever struggles to accept her life now and let go of things that need to be let go of.

Its a good start to what can be a promising series. The characters are well written and leave you wanting to get to know them better and find out more of this immortal world where people can think things into being. I was stressed the entire time about what Ever would do in Damens case and all that it would entail. The writer wrote it as a page turner and I literally couldnt put it down.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I had mixed feelings going into it because I read some negative reviews on retail sites, but figured I would find out for myself anyway, and the Nook edition was only 2.99, plus I had gotten a gift card for my birthday, so what did I have to lose, right? I read the book in one day!

I felt so drawn to Ever, right from the beginning. She felt the need to hide who she really was from everyone around her, trying to forget the girl she used to be. The tragedy in this book is absolutely heartbreaking. There is romance, mystery, intrigue, all rolled into one neat little package.

While Miles and Haven, her best friends, seem like secondary characters who were little more than an afterthought, they add a dynamic to the story that is incredible. It makes the whole story seem real and believable, as you experience the teenage angst that is commonplace with trying to find out who you really are.

Damen is described as smoking hot, and you can actually get an image in your mind of what he looks like. My image of Damen is something like the actor that plays Stefan on The Vampire Diaries, and if I am wrong, I would so rather the author not fill me in on that one!

And of course, then you have Drina, who you will have to develop your own opinion of because if I tell you what I think, there will be spoilers here and I always try to write spoiler-free (mostly because I have not figured out how to hide them like other bloggers do!)

I absolutely loved this story and had total fangirl moments reading it. I am a 30 year old woman obsessed with a fantasy novel. Don't tell my husband, he would be embarrassed to go in public with me after this admission!

I feel that everyone who loves fantasy should read this novel. It was nice to get something out of the ordinary and unexpected. Most fantasy novels of late are filled with vampires in some variation or another, and what you get here is so much better!

Seriously, go buy this book. You will not regret it.

I really want to give this a better rating for the easy writing style and the effortless flow which kept me hooked but I can't ignore this book's faults.

Throughout I got annoyed with Damen's constant excuses and apologies and from the moment after Drina attacked Ever everything got a bit corny and Damen's explanation of what he is didn't quite feel right. However I did love the thing with the flowers and their meanings and the way he gave Ever some of her confidence back. The Riley dilemma was well-written and I could understand Ever's feelings toward Ava, she was always smiling and came off as arrogant, why would Ever think Ava could help if she was like that and going behind Ever's back and talking to Riley?

Some may compare this to Twilight but I think that's unfair, it has more in common with the Vampire Diaries. Both of the heroines have lost their families in car accidents, both are finding it hard to adjust to a new life with an aunt, both meet a mysterious new student at school and the similarities continue only Stefan was a vampire and Damen is not. Drina could have been the Damen character from the Vampire Diaries in disguise but she was more pathetic though her manipulation of Haven was creepy.

This was an enticing, quality book. Very suitable for younger teens in my opinion; it has a romantic theme but the content is PG-13. The heroine is sensible and responsible for her choices. I applaud the author for her efforts to provide a good role model. The storyline is suspenseful and had me guessing well into the book. I only gave it four stars because it never really wowed me, but it was a very pleasant experience and I'm glad I read it.

Title: EvermoreAuthor: Alyson NoelPublisher: St. Martin’s GriffinGenre: Young Adult | Paranormal RomanceReviewer Rating: Five StarsAfter a tragic accident that claimed the lives of the rest of her family, Ever Bloom is forced to build her life anew. Not only does she move from Eugene, Orgeon to Laguna Beach, California to live with her aunt, thus starting a new school, but discovers she possesses psychic gifts that she had not possessed prior to the accident.Sometime after she begins attending a new school and makes friends, she meets Damen Auguste, another newbie to the school.“Damen is gorgeous, exotic, and wealthy”, but best of all, he helps Ever to “silence the noise and random energy in her head”.I started reading this book to “fill a box” (a book from the Young Adult genre) on my “bingo sheet”, which is a part of my local library’s summer reading program this year. The cover intrigued me, but to be honest I nearly returned it before leaving the library because the point of view is one that tends to set my teeth on edge - First Person Present. I gave it a chance, though, and LOVED it! I started it one day and finished it the next.Quite often, I will avoid books with vampires. To my way of thinking, they’ve been done... to death. (Please excuse the pun.) What I liked about this book, though, was the psychic aspects. The principles were quite in line with my own bits of knowledge and experience. And as an “Immortal”, Damen disputed the myths and pulp culture surrounding vampires. In addition, having lived in California as a kid until I was a young adult - particularly Southern California - some of the scenes were like “coming home” to me.There were a few things I found frustrating with regard to both Damen and Ever, however, I found they were issues that were cleared up by the end.I would highly recommend this to those who enjoy young adult, paranormal romance.

I'm not sure why I started to read this. I'm pretty sure the kobo app recommended it.

As soon as it started off I knew it wasn't really my kind of book, but i was curious about the whole "seeing auras" and teenage psychic. How she needed to drown out everything so she wouldn't get overwhelmed by stimulus. I've had that feeling a few times so I kinda got attached.

That's the only redeeming part of the entire book for me. Once the love interest came in, I lost whatever remaining internet in the book, but I still had to finish it.

Other reviews have remarked how similar it is to twilight and even though I've never read twilight I can believe it. The relationship was very weak and one sided, made me feel sad about the female gender in general.

Some of the ending bits I liked, but overall I'd give it a meh.
