About this audiobook
As Christians, we believe that all sins are considered equal in God's eyes. Yet while evangelicals continue to decry the Big Ones--such as abortion, adultery, and violence--we often overlook more deceptive sins. It seems we have created a sliding scale where gossip, jealousy, and selfishness comfortably exist within the church. In short, some sins have simply become acceptable. Acclaimed author Jerry Bridges believes that just as culture has lost the concept of sin, the church faces the same danger. Throughout, Jerry encourages victory over personal sin through the gospel's transforming power. This release is perfect for readers who long to thoughtfully examine their lives and discover a deeper walk with God.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5"The worst sin of all is the denial of our subtle sins."
No sin is respectable. However, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, we tolerate some sins more than others. We can even deceive ourselves into believing we are righteous when, in fact, we are filled with self-righteouness.
I'm indebted to Jerry Bridges for working through all of these sins that we tolerate. It is incredibly helpful for my soul to work through each of these sins, and understand the implications of living with these sins. I hope to use this book to help me do an inventory of my heart, and keep learning to repent from a host of sins that threaten my soul.
Jerry Bridges identifies that he isn't able to get into all the nuances and questions about each of these sins (especially anger, and questions about how abuse victims should respond to abuse, etc). That's not the scope of his book, and I appreciate that he states that clearly. I appreciate what his book is for - to help Christians identify sins they might be blindly tolerating in their lives, and urge them to repent of those sins.
I pray that God will have mercy on me, and help me. Every single 'Respectable Sin' Jerry Bridges reflected on, deeply convicted me. May God deliver me from sin, and sanctify me. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very good content. Very slow reading. I increased speed to 1.2x to bring it up to normal speed.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow! Every chapter of this was a sledgehammer of truth and conviction right between the eyes! This is one of very few books I will be adding to my read once a year list and purchasing the best possible physical copy I can find. Jerry Bridges writing has been nothing but a blessing to my family and I.
