      Samuel's gentle romance weaves together the stories of a handful of life-damaged people trying as best they can to fit their lives back together. With a cast that includes a recovering alcoholic, a twice-divorced man who collects strays, an elderly bruja, two young girls hurt by their fathers' absences, and a grieving widow.... It's a novel of family, self-discovery, relationships, and love. Of pain accepted and burdens lightened in the sharing. Not a demanding story, it unfolds quietly, inviting the reader to accept that people are human and sometimes life means taking risks, getting hurt, and simply finding happiness in those around us.
