      I love this author and this book series.
      Going to buy the fourth story and set back and enjoy the next jam Lily Ivory (and friends) become entangled with.

      Hexes and Hemlines (A Witchcraft Mystery #3) by Juliet Blackwell is a fun cozy, witchy mystery. I like the supernatural and it is a nice break for the heavier books to read a cozy book once in a while so this is perfect. It is a easy and fun read that kept me entertained.

      SFPD Detective, Carlos Romero calls Lily for help in finding the murderer of Malachi Zazi, who was the 13th member of a group of debunkers, who have all been having a run of bad luck.

      While investigating the crime scene with Sailor, Lily comes across some powerful black magic & a rattlesnake......

      Things spin out of control from there.....more and more bad magic comes into play.

      Meanwhile, Max comes back to town, things heat up with Aidan, and we learn more about Lily's past and why she left Texas in the middle of the night....

      The book has less to do with the actual crime & goings on of the suspects and focuses more on the magickal aspect....

      I plan on reading the next one when it it published.

      I really enjoy this series - she manages to blend lightheartedness with just enough scary to keep me excited to read more, but not worried about sleeping at night. The plot line in this third book of the series is not as dramatic as the first two but still very gripping, I thought. It's one I might have to re-read at a later date because I suspect I might have missed a few details. The characters continue to develop and some of them in interesting directions. I'm really looking forward to reading the next book - hopefully I won't have to wait a whole year for it!

      This is the third book in the Witchcraft series from Blackwell. I'm not a believer of witchcraft, but Blackwell does write a very interesting story and provides necessary explanation for the most part.

      Lily Ivory is invited by the police to a murder scene where the victim is surrounded by numerous elements of superstitions. Lilly finds it strange that the police have asked her to the crime and soon finds out the #1 suspect is her good friends son in law. Now she wonders if that is the reason they are asking for her help. Aiden, who was helping Lily hone her skills as a witch has absouletly forbid Lily to get involved in the mystery surrounding the death of Malachi Zazi. But still she continues to search and finds some dark witchcraft that is being used. So with her familair, Oscar, sure scours the streets of San Francisco and use her powers of witchcraft to solve the murder.

      I enjoyed the story and characters in this book and will continue with this series.

      I enjoyed this book, by and large. I especially liked the San Francisco setting and vintage clothing store details, but sometimes the witchy details seemed a bit much. (I know, I know, the main character is a witch!) All in all, a quicky, light read.

      Characters are still forming. Really, Bronwyn should still be mad at the end of the book, And what is Aidan up to? When will Sailor open up or grow a spine? What is with the snakes?

      This is the last one I'll read in this series. The characters just aren't appealing and the stories are too contrived to be interesting.

      Another strong addition to this series and I find it an interesting take that each story so far has started right at the end of the last...though this time around there was a bit of a continuity bump between book two and this one. A small issue.I enjoyed the mystery and the characters interactions while solving it, though I didn't find myself all that invested in it overall, of the three so far I feel it is the weakest mystery wise. I did enjoy the brief glimpse of the politics at work in the magic community in San Francisco and I'm really enjoying the system of magic she is developing in these books, it feels quite possible and natural. This is a must read series for me so far.

Lily is shocked when the police identify a suspect and it is someone she knows. Suspecting a coincidence, Lily finds evidence of dark witchcraft and a hex. Determined to use her magic, Lily goes in search of the murderer. A truly enchanting mystery perfect for those readers who are believers in the supernatural.

      SFPD Inspector Carlos Romero asks witch Lily Ivory to look at an unusual murder scene on the thirteenth floor of an apartment building. Lily sees several symbols of bad luck: a ladder in front of the door, a broken mirror, a black cat, and an open umbrella. The victim is Malachi Zazi, son of the infamously eccentric "Prince High" Zazi, a self-professed Satanist.Malachi's doctrine was Rationalism, and to prove it, he started a group called the Serpentarians. The group had thirteen members, who would meet on the thirteenth of the month. Ironically, it's at one of these meetings that Malachi is killed.Although Lily is at first ambivalent about helping Romero, her curiosity is piqued when her "instructor" Aidan orders her not to get involved.Lily's investigations of other occult traditions during the course of her investigations, including voodoo and gypsy magic make it obvious that Juliet Blackwell's research has been thorough.There is definitely a spooky "woo-woo" element in this book, and though I'm not a fan of being scared, the writing and the story were so magnetic that I couldn't put it down.Lily is a complex and appealing protagonist, and I look forward to seeing more of her.
