About this audiobook
From New York Times bestselling author Jude Deveraux, a suspensful romance about a woman who uncovers a powerful treasure—and to protect it, she’ll need the help of the man she can’t have…but can’t help falling for.
What if your most closely guarded wishes suddenly began to come true?
Graduate student Gemma Ranford wants the job cataloging the documents of one of Edilean’s oldest families so much that she is ready to do battle to get it. Desperate to finish her dissertation, she’s sure that investigating the Frazier family history will yield new information to invigorate her research. But she is surprised to find among the papers references to the legend of the Heartwishes Stone, a magical talisman said to grant wishes to anyone named Frazier. And as she spends more time with the family in their small Virginia town, she realizes that the most secret wishes of each of the Fraziers are coming true—and that she’s falling hopelessly in love with Colin, the Fraziers’ eldest son.
But now that the Stone’s powers have been awakened, so have the designs of an international thief. Gemma and Colin must find the Stone before it can be used against the family but not before each of their deepest desires is fulfilled. . . .

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Love that you don’t have to read the series! Love
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fully developed characters. Detailed settings. History! Magic! Love! Beautiful. Thank you Jude Deveraux for another great romance.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Another one of the Edilean series. This book centres around Gemma who is a historical researcher and one of the Frazier men, Colin. It is definitely more romance than suspense, but a quick, enjoyable read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was all I could "wish for". Tension between two women over one man and the possibility that magic really does exist. All the talk of pregnancy and babies made me ache to hold a baby in my arms. It was written as if someone was telling you the story around the fireplace, but it also felt like you were there, an innocent spectator and helpless yet dying to know what happens next. This book should appeal to young women, those who like a good puzzle to solve, and anyone who likes magic.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5So, I was in the mood for some light fluff and Jude Deveraux has a pretty good track record for romance. Everything was fine until the last 30 pages. You might think I was disappointed because the ending was contrived and predictable, but, no, that was actually expected. It is a romance, after all. No, what ticked me off was that the happy I-can't-live-without-you kiss took place and then there was all this EXPLANATION!! Really? I think I understood the characters, plot and motivation pretty well. And I no longer cared about the attempt-to-make-this-high-brow historical back-story. After the kiss the curtain is supposed to close. And yet, worse than the wordiness at the end, the kiss really did come at the wrong time -- too soon! What happened to Pere? And what school did Shamus choose? And what about Dr. Tris? So many characters left hanging. Grrrr. Then it hits me. There is a preview of her next book in the back, set in the same locale. Sigh. To be continued. Downgraded from 4 to 3.5 because of the annoying ending. Come on Jude!!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Mrs. Frazier wants grandchildren. Colin Frazier wants to be sheriff. Gemma just wants to get her hands on all those historic records. Well, and Colin's pretty yummy, as well - but she's not going there, because that might screw up her chance at the papers. A sweet romance with some dangerous touches set in small town America. It's not a bad read, but it has a few proofing errors (names change, words missing, etc.) that made it read less smoothly than it might have.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Enjoyed this book. Deveraux always does a nice job developing her characters as intelligent women working through their every day lives.I didn't realize when I picked this up that it was the fifth in a series, but hopefully that won't hurt. I have already picked up a couple of the earlier ones at the library to get caught up! Unrelated to the actualy readability, I really liked the cover art.
