About this audiobook

Ancient church rituals meet cutting-edge crime-solving in this thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling series featuring NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas.

Seconds after partaking of wine during a Catholic funeral mass, Father Miguel Flores is dead on the altar. Detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas confirms that the consecrated wine contained enough potassium cyanide to kill a rhino. And though the East Harlem neighborhood is a long way from the stone mansion she shares with her billionaire husband Roarke, it’s the holiness flying around St. Christobal’s that makes her uneasy.

The autopsy reveals faint scars of knife wounds, a removed tattoo—and evidence of plastic surgery suggesting “Father Flores” may not be the man his parishioners thought. Now, as Eve pieces together clues that suggest identity theft, gang connections, and a deeply personal act of revenge, she hopes to track down whoever committed this unholy act. Until a second murder—in front of an even larger crowd of worshippers—knocks the whole investigation sideways...

So many avenues in this story, but I was hooked. I wouldn't mind listening to the story again. EVE is smart as a whip. Sorry JD Robb lol.

Thus is very much unbelievable and the reason for a boy who was raised as catholic went so wrong and killed without remorse or care for lifestyle changes. He went all the way to killing a priest how low did he fall. Playing this same church that he thought to respect and care for. Killing innocent children over money and another's weather. In the the closest person to his heart brought him down as he has done for all those who has come before him. He used and take from people in the end he loss all including his soul.

A convoluted decades long con, old crimes, lovers betrayal, and murder, oh yes murder. Eve can cut through all the religion to find the covetous, greedy, sinners.

This was a tough one for Eve,a dead priest and a man who was posed as a priest

It gave me a window into why some people are catholic. Personally, I worried that this would be too faith-based, when first listening to the story. Then realized the background info on the church rituals, was necessary for advancing the murder plot and character development, and so on.
