About this audiobook

In the stunning conclusion to Anna Carey's epic tale of romance and sacrifice, Eve must choose who to leave behind, who to save, and who to fight in her final stand against the New America.

When Eve lost her soul mate, Caleb, she felt like her world ended. Now, trapped in the palace, as a reluctant bride and unhappy princess, Eve's entire life is a lie.

The only thing that keeps her going is Caleb's memory—and the revolution he started. Eve plots to destroy the New America, beginning with the capital, the City of Sand. Will she be able to bring about a new, free world when she's called upon to perform the ultimate act of rebellion—killing her father, the King?

Great story with an engaging and likeable protagonist, except she seems at times rather careless on a way that makes you slap your forehead. I think it was in the previous bolume that she "caught the eye" of one of the soldiers looking for her. She just couldn't not LOOK, could she.

And in this volume she takes refuge in Calafia, a females-only community near San Francisco. Pregnant, and without any supportive evidence, she assumes that her baby is a girl. The possibility of a male child, and of mother and child being sent out into the wilderness again, is never mentioned.

I have loved this series, and I find with the last installment wishing that there were a few more chapters... Like at the end of a movie you are really enjoying the feeling that they ran out of time or money...
I would love if Ms Carey would add a bit more to the end before Rise comes out. Still a good story.
    I can wish can't I?

What!? I loved the way Eve developed as a character and the basic storyline, bur was left wondering a few things. Too many holes for me in the last book to give it more than 3 stars. (Spoiler alert). Why didn't anyone reason out that if Eve killed her father when Moss was still alive that power cold just shift to her? She could have mad the necessary changes. What happens to Charles at the end of the book? And Clara's mom? Why didn't Caleb try to get a message to Eve? You'd think he wold find a way.

So I can see how the books could end without the later added epilogue, but I'm so very, very glad it was added. It's reassuring on the one hand and adds new dimension and a much broader picture on the other. Eve herself continued to surprise me with her willingness to take massive risks. I loved this trilogy and might just reread it.

Eve, known as Princess Genevieve, is stuck in the City of Sands as a new wife to Charles, the Head of Development. But as she tries to escape with Caleb, they are attacked and Caleb is shot. She then finds out she is pregnant with Caleb's baby. Working with insider rebels she is propositioned to kill her father to save the city from the injustices that are ensuing with a huge rise of slavery and decrepit circumstances. After an unsuccessful attempt of poisoning her father, he sends soldiers after her as the rebels begin to attack outside the walls. She grabs some innocent girls from the local Schools that have been brought in and the girls take off to Califia. After she arrives to safety she learns of all the deaths the king has enforced. She quickly gets back to the city where she kills her father as the rebels from the colonies erupt into the city, lead by her best friend Arden. The story ends with finding Caleb injured and running to him. I loved the wrap up of the book! The books are action-packed with most ideas connected, and time elapsing somewhat appropriately. I really loved this trilogy. I wish I had purchased the books and will most likely add them to my collection when I find them, even though it's an older trilogy. Definitely work checking out if you like dystopian trilogies.

A satisfactory conclusion to this series, although the end came very abruptly. I turned the page to keep reading only to be met with the author's acknowledgements. I flipped back to the previous page to make sure I hadn't missed something, but no the book just stopped and I was left wondering what happened to everyone. Is there going to be another book after all?

My only reason for not giving this book a raving review is the very abrupt ending. I will not go into detail because I do mot want to spoil the book, but it just left me hanging and wondering what happened to.. well..everyone!

I have since discovered that due to the popular demand the author is currently working on an epilogue that will be included in the print version of the book when it is released.

As for the rest of the book...

The world building remained strong as it was in the first two books of the series. The characters had so much personality that it was easy to understand the motives for their actions. And of course there is Eve. She is such a bad ass which I love since she really has no reason to be so strong and brave given that she was raised in an environment such as the schools.

While I thought it was a bit slow and gave too much explanation during most of the book, the ending made me so happy. I hope that she just leaves this like this, so that my imagination can make up my own final ending.

Predictable, as expected, and blatantly transparent. And then it ends ONE scene too early. Argh! If it's going to be that predictable, and come on, I knew Caleb wasn't really dead before the end of the previous book, much less the start of this one- No body shown to her means alive. at least give me the happy kiss at the end!

Can I just say THANK YOU to Anna Carey for creating such an exciting, action packed, and romantic trilogy without a love triangle! Seriously. I love her for this! Eve has grown into quite the kick butt heroine who carries on Caleb’s memory by doing everything she can to help the revolution. So many of the newer dystopian novels have become all about the romance rather than the worlds. I like that the revolution against New America has stayed in focus throughout the trilogy and was the main driving force in Rise. There is always a journey involved in these books. This time Eve saves a group of girls from one of the schools and is trying to get them safely to Califia. This created a large and annoying group of young girls who were the center of attention for a large portion of the book. I honestly couldn’t tell you how many girls their were or who was who, I didn’t bother trying to tell them apart. The thing that was most disappointing is that I read book two back in January of 2012. Aside from the main plot points I hardly remembered anything about the characters or events going on. I wish I had done a re-read of the first two books beforehand, I think I would have enjoyed the conclusion more had past events been fresh in my mind. I had seen that there was a lot of frustration surrounding the ending and readers not being satisfied. The author even wrote an epilogue due to all the complaints she received that was added to the paperback version. I had the hardcover.... This made me incredibly nervous, thinking things must end poorly. I was pleasantly surprised and happy with how things turned out. I can see how some people would want more but I felt like it was enough, kinda perfect even. That’s not to say I won’t go to Barnes & Noble and read that epilogue... cause I will.

And the wait was worth it! After being disappointed with the 1st book, the 2nd getting a better review, this 3rd book was the best. It really pulled them all together. Eve grows even more and becomes a take charge person. She finds her purpose within the City ... unfortunately it is opposite of what her father wants. I won't go on further, I don't want to spoil your read. My advice: finish the series!

Fast paced, kept me turning the pages. Missed the first two in the series-so for me, the flaws in this one (as a stand-alone novel)were convincing me why dad was evil enough to warrant being poisoned, making me care enough about Pip to feel sad when she died (I wasn't) and understanding why Charles is such a bad choice... I also "guessed" fairly early on that Caleb would be reappearing.

Another book that I finally got a chance to finish and ....yet I don't want it to end.I'm going to start off with the ending. The last line of the book is solid and awesome yet there has to be more. Please tell me there will be another book cause it CAN NOT end that way. It just can't. Not after finally finding the answer that I had been searching for and then BAM over? I think not. With that said, the plot is awesome. Totally captivating and riveting, after finishing this book you are utterly hooked. There wasn't much of a love interest but certainly great friendships form and allies. Things are starting to break and its up to Eve to set things straight. I like that Eve became strong through out the series. In this book she is a fighter. You can tell. She doesn't give up on anything. She is always finding ways to help others and is doing her part to stop all the bad people. I'm amazed of how well Eve came through all of these trials.Overall, this book is awesome. A thrill ride from start to finish, Rise singles the beginning of the end. An undeniably entertaining story, Rise is a success.
