About this audiobook

According to researchers, the vast majority—a whopping 75-98 percent—of the illnesses that plague us today are a direct result of our thought life. What we think about truly affects us both physically and emotionally. In fact, fear alone triggers more than 1,400 known physical and chemical responses in our bodies, activating more than thirty different hormones! Today our culture is undergoing an epidemic of toxic thoughts that, left unchecked, create ideal conditions for illnesses.

Supported by current scientific and medical research, Dr. Caroline Leaf gives readers a prescription for better health and wholeness through correct thinking patterns, declaring that we are not victims of our biology. She shares with readers the “switch” in our brains that enables us to live happier, healthier, more enjoyable lives where we achieve our goals, maintain our weight, and even become more intelligent. She shows us how to choose life, get our minds under control, and reap the benefits of a detoxed thought life.

Way too many scripture references, which is not clear at all from the description. Quote: "if I can't back up scientific fact by scripture, I have to question its validity" ... not my cup of tea.

A lot of religion and very vague instructions for getting better, reads more like a sermon than a scientific book.

I couldn’t listen past the rest chapter due to constant repeated references to the bible verses.

It should not be announced as a scientifically book if it keeps quoting the Bible since the beginning.

A lot of references to the bible and quoting of scriptures which I found annoying.

Full of scripture that’s backed by science. Not at all new agey. Very Biblical and provides a perfect layout to conquer your toxic thoughts. I’ve tried other 21 day negativity cleanses and similar intense mental focus activities to get rid of thinking that’s not “me” but I’m realizing that they didn’t work because they weren’t backed by the Word and rooted in God’s truth and how He designed our brains.

Awful, wasn't clear it's a religious audiobook, and is vague throughout

Though I really like the idea of science and spirituality interconnection (not really like but believe in it fully), but this book wasn’t the most pleasant read sadly. It is extremely repetitive and almost every second sentence is “God…” or quoting from the Bible. If I want a bible - I read a bible. Was just too much of it.

For 3 hours she repeated the same thing again and again and again. I would listen to any of firsts chapters and move forward to chapter 11.

The first audio book I have listened to and it was a joy to hear! It is wonderful how they can put the Word of God together with science to help us get a better understanding of how to fully gain access to our mind and brain functions.

This read offers great principles from the Bible, tied to scientific explanations to the non-scientific mind. The best part, this is not just theoretical but Dr. Leaf gives practical, simple steps to overcome toxic thinking and become healthy!

I'm sure the content is great but unfortunately for me there was too much reference to the Bible and a all powerful God.

After much research over the years and personal grapple alongside, i find that Caroline Leaf, although speaking loudly and proudly- her actual content is a shallow skim of a topic that is multidimensional and complex. I'm afraid that her book promises a quick fix and perhaps has some truth but it's just way more layered and complex than she alludes. Even though many do, this is not seen by me as truth to hold on to. I'm highly dubious and saddened by the arrogant 'black and white' way in which it is presented as it convinces people that they will be fixed by her methods and just need to do better. When it doesnt heal or have long term results the individual, I imagine, is often left thinking about whether they could have done better which exacerbates the problem. One star is an adequate reflection on the value of her book in my life and how I feel others should approach it. With a pinch of salt

Loved the book. I will be ordering her workbooks because I really believe this is a powerful tool. That being said, it was incredibly difficult to focus on the book due to poor narration.

Half the book is spent sprouting the famous five step 21 day brain program. With an hour left I hope
She actually explains it instead of hyping it up in her own book.

While both Neuroplasticity and Christianity are great, and work together. This author needs help. I've read the book before and listened to her podcasts for a while. Don’t waste your time! There are better educated authors on both subjects, and the combination as well! She needs therapy worse than you or those you are concerned about! Find a competent resource for yourself and/or your loved one.

It unfortunately doesn’t lend itself very well to an audiobook, because of the excessive quotations throughout
