About this audiobook
The "work-from-home" phenomenon is thoroughly explored in this illuminating new audiobook from best-selling 37signals founders Fried and Hansson, who point to the surging trend of employees working from home (and anywhere else) and explain the challenges and unexpected benefits. Most important, they show why - with a few controversial exceptions such as Yahoo - more businesses will want to promote this new model of getting things done.
The Industrial Revolution's "under one roof" model of conducting work is steadily declining owing to technology that is rapidly creating virtual workspaces and allowing workers to provide their vital contribution without physically clustering together. Today, the new paradigm is "move work to the workers, rather than workers to the workplace." According to Reuters, one in five global workers telecommutes frequently and nearly ten percent work from home every day. Moms in particular will welcome this trend. A full 60% wish they had a flexible work option. But companies see advantages, too, in the way remote work increases their talent pool, reduces turnover, lessens their real estate footprint, and improves the ability to conduct business across multiple time zones, to name just a few advantages. In Remote, iconoclastic authors Fried and Hansson will convince listeners that letting all or part of work teams function remotely is a great idea - and they're going to show precisely how a remote work setup can be accomplished.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good enough
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A must! Many still this is not happening from a successful company
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5While I like the writing of Jason and DHH, this piece felt like more of an ideological sell on the system of remote work than a practical guide.
I came into the book already drinking the Remote Kool-aid and was looking for tips and techniques to apply to my new venture with a 100% remote team. While there were some how-to elements, I was hoping for more. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Remember when Marissa Mayer ( Yahoo's last CEO ) banned working remotely ?
This book is a brilliant detailed respond, the authors explain why working remotely is more productive than coming to the office everyday!
They explains how the remote work should be done to avoid the distance. different time-zones problems.
Even if you are not planning to work remotely, I strongly recommend reading the book, it has some practical ways and tools to make your work more productive and organised. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a really well-written book, and by that I mean loose language, non-pushy sell and reason. It's thinking loosely outside the box, in an intellectual way, putting facts behind words and personal experience as well. This is a real boon to workers and managers alike, who work using the internet.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5If you are convinced for some reason that remote work is not possible, you should read the book, if you already convinced, it’s not gonna do much for you, except maybe few ideas, and the tools are already relatively old, you can find better, which is great for the Remote work case
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5good book. useful information inside. so I decided to apply some of them in my company
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great points! After you read this book, you won't be in doubt if you should become a remote worker.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A necessary read for the modern knowledge worker.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great quick read. Lots of good research to back up the benefits of remote work arrangements.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I was looking for advice about working from home. I was disappointed. Self-promotion is limited but it's still weird in a book. Unless this book was originally a blog, which it might've been given the (lack of) structure.
