    Tim Conway (1933—2019) starred on The Carol Burnett Show for eleven years. He won six Emmys and was in the Comedy Hall of Fame. He went to Bowling Green State University for eleven years (he was a very slow learner). Tim was in the army (ours) for two years, protecting Seattle from "the Red Menace" and was in McHale's Navy for three years. His ambition was to be a jockey, but at his weight even the horses asked him to get off. He has seven children and was married to his lovely wife Charlene for thirty-five years.

      Seriously? I didn't find this book funny, I did find it interesting. He talks about his work with such greats as: Harvey Korman, Carol Burnett, Betty White, Vicki Lawrence, Bob Newhart, and Ernest Borgnine combined with behind-the-scenes shenanigans on the t.v. shows he was famous for.

      His life growing up was rather strange, moving to a new house every time his father made a bit more money, but mostly in the same town and very far from where they had been, but this I am thinking is due to the size of the towns. I didn't get any "feeling" from his parents or from him with regards to their relationship..... They seemed to be a rather odd family.

      I was honestly hoping for more humor... Maybe you had to have been there.

      I love this book so much!! It felt like sitting with a warm cup of tea and having great conversation with a friend. Hearing about Tim Conway's upbringing, his young life, his parents, and Chagrin Falls and all of his adventures... it was just so lovely, pleasant, engaging and wonderful! His jaunt in the military, his beginnings in comedy showbiz... The folks he met and befriended, the stories he told... Just terrific! What an incredible guy, and a talented, gifted comedian and person.
      I didn't want it to end! I'm going to watch all the Carol Burnett shows, look up other things about Tim Conway and start his daughter's book, my dad is funny as your dad right now. ???

      From birth to the end of the book opened up a textured life that was both real and revealed the natural humor. Thank you for putting a part of life on paper, well done. We watched CB Show while we were all having our personal problems, and bringing a laugh and something fun to talk about brought America a bit closer.

      Hysterical stories. Heartwarming stories. All the things you wanted to know about Tim (and probably some you didn’t!) all from his own mouth. The light switch story and some of the ones about his fathers dealings with his friends will make ya wet your pants. Great book! ?

      Tim Conway's description of his early life and the exploits of his wacky parents is hilarious. I was in tears through the first third of the autobiography. On that fact alone I recommend What's So Funny to his admirers and comedy fans in general.

      I thought the portion describing his professional career was ok but the beginning was great.

      I used to hate it when, while still living at home, one of my sisters would come to me with a question and preface it with the words "you're smart." It seemed to raise the stakes somehow. I didn't mind taking a stab at answering a question, but the "you're smart" comment seemed to turn the pressure on. I imagine it's like public speakers who receive such a glowing introduction they may wonder how they can ever give a speech that will live up to it.That's a bit how a feel about Tim Conway's autobiography "What's So Funny? My Hilarious Life." The title raises the stakes. How can the book ever live up to its title?It is, in fact, a very funny book. Conway tells some great stories about his pranks at the expense of Harvey Korman, his college days at Bowling Green State University, his early career on a Cleveland television station (that he was reluctant to leave when invited to Hollywood), his experiences on "McHale's Navy," his failed sitcoms, his movies with Don Knotts and, of course, his long relationship with Carol Burnett. I enjoyed the tale about the time he and two show business friends dressed up in Hollywood lion costumes to sneak into a football game featuring the Detroit Lions, then found the costumes too hot to actually enjoy the game. My favorite story is about the time when Conway was in his third year on the hit TV comedy "McHale's Navy" and he got a call from his mother telling him about a job opening at the Chagrin Falls, Ohio, hardware story. He pointed out he was on a successful show in Hollywood, but she, sounding very much like a mother, said, "You got a chance to get a good steady job. You should take it."I am a big Tim Conway fan and have been since I knew him as Ensign Parker. I enjoyed the book very much. Yet every time I picked it up I would notice the cover and wonder if the book was really living up to the title. The novel Philip Roth called "The Great American Novel" is not among those held in highest regard by his fans and critics. Coincidence? I wonder.

      A shy guy from Chagrin Falls, Ohio becomes one of the funniest entertainers ever, Tim Conway. He was born Toma (Tom) Conway to an Irish father and a Romanian mother. Since there was already an actor known as Tom Conway, he adopted the name Tim. The stories about his parents, especially the unintentionally humorous antics of his father, combined with his hijinks make for a really fun time! And he says he has plenty more great stories! I'm hoping he writes his memoir part II! If you haven't experienced his work, watch episodes of the Carol Burnett and McHale's Navy, before or after you read this book!

      Reading this book was like sitting down with an old friend and catching up. Conway is down to earth, very humble and just an all round nice guy... with a wicked sense of humor. He touches on his childhood, his wonderfully quirky parents, his hometown. Learning about his youth makes it obvious why he is such a wonderful comedian. He talks about his career, the people he's known and with whom he's worked. He is a happy man and has had a happy life. He obviously enjoys making people laugh and his stories are hilarious. I was sorry to see this one end. Absolutely delightful.

      The Carol Burnett Show may have ended before I was born but I love that show, I mean LOVE it. They don’t make sketch comedy like that anymore and one of the best actors on there? Tim Conway (seriously if you’ve never seen his acts on there – look up ones such as The Elephant or The Dentist or many other ones – if he doesn’t make you laugh….don’t talk to me). When I read Carol Burnett’s memoir, This Time Together (which I loved), I kept thinking that Tim Conway needed his own memoir and here it is!

      The guy is hilarious in anything he does, and that includes this memoir. He tells about his life and the stories along the way. Not only is he funny but he seems genuinely nice and sincere throughout this book. If you have enjoyed Tim Conway in past shows, or even his guest appearances in more recent shows, I think you will really enjoy this book. Tim Conway is an amazing man to read about – all his stories may not be the most interesting but he makes them great in his storytelling. A fun, quick read for his fans!

      A delightfully goofy autobiography (written with Jane Scovell, because Conway is severely dyslexic) that makes it clear Conway is exactly what he appears, which is to say zany, unassuming, off-kilter, and darling. One of my favorite comic actors ever, Conway was responsible for the Dentist sketch with Harvey Korman on the Carol Burnett show, and just reading about it again made me helpless with laughter. A fast, light read.
