No one does wickedly funny and irresistibly steamy like New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands—especially in this red-hot romance between a reluctant vampire and the beauty who needs his help.

Luck be a vampire tonight . . .

When Nicole Phillips agreed to hire a housekeeper, she pictured someone a little frumpy and almost certainly female. Instead, she gets gorgeous, unmistakably male Jake Colson. The man is proving indispensable in the kitchen—and everywhere else. Except Jake might not be a mortal man at all.

Who wouldn't want to be a tall, dark, powerful vampire?Jake, for one. He's barely had time to adjust to his newstate before he's roped into a family favor. Still, secretly playing bodyguard to sweet, sexy Nicole is turning out to be the wildest ride of his life. First, he'll put a stop to whoever's targeting her. Lynsay Sands has always been one of my favorite authors to read from when it comes to vampire romances. She was one of the first paranormal authors that made me fall in love with the genre. I was given a copy of One Lucky Vampire in return for a honest review through Edelweiss. I was really excited to be able to read Jake's story. After reading this one though, it made me want to re read the whole series. Even though it's not my favorite one in the series, it was still just as fun and unique.Jake is still adjusting to his life as a vampire. It feels like just yesterday when he was turned when he was almost killed. Now he still has issues with being a vampire, having hated vampires most of his life. When Marguerite comes to him for his help, he can't say no to her, even though he knows that there must be more than one purpose for her asking for his help. A young woman's life is in danger from her soon to be ex husband, who wants her for her money, and after a few murder attempts, Marguerite is convinced that Nicole's life is in danger. Nicole loved her husband in the beginning, but it became apparent that her husband was just using her for her money. When Marguerite convinces her that she needs a cook/housekeeper so she can focus on her paintings, she reluctantly agrees, but she never expect a hunk of male goodness to arrive on her doorstep. Jake at first isn't going to complain with protect a sweet and beautiful young woman, but when he tries to read her, he finds out that she is his life mate. Now he is in a world of trouble, because that is the last thing he needs. But before he realizes it he finds that Nicole is everything he needs.I found One Lucky Vampire to be a cute read. It does have the same uniqueness that Sands has with this series. Although what I loved about this, is that Jake is unlike her other heroes in a way. He is very bitter in the beginning about vampires and who he is. The way that this author puts together this story is quite enchanting in a way. I loved the way she puts these two together, and there is quite a good mystery involved as well that added a certain flavor to it. A fun and witty vampire romance that is full of endearing characters, thrilling plot, and enough sensuality to fog your windows!!

I love this series from Lynsay Sands. I have not read them all yet. I read a couple, then will come back later when I need my vampire fix.Specifically, what I liked about this book, One Lucky Vampire, was the immediate attraction I had to the characters. Jake, the main character, is so conflicted. He is alive only because another vampire used his one turn to save his life. Yet, he is struggling with accepting being an immortal and has turned away from his family. Nicole, on the other hand, also needs saving, in a differant way, from an emotional abusive soon to be ex-husband. Marguerite steps in when she thinks Nicole's husband is trying to kill her. She hires Jake to protect her and discover that Nicole is his life mate. The delemia for Jake is, how to explain the life of an immortal so he can turn Nicole when he still has not accepted being an immortal himself.

Listened for Fun (Library)Overall Rating: 4.00Story Rating: 3.75Character Rating: 4.25Audio Rating: 4.50 (not part of the overall rating)Quick Thoughts: One Lucky Vampire by Lynsay Sands was fun, sexy, and goofy enough to make me laugh out loud often. The end was a bit rushed but the characters are so fantastic that I just didn't care. I was so in love with Jake and thought Nicole was a great match for him. I loved the twist that the mystery took. The romance just should have been flushed out a bit more in the end :) Totally getting back to this series!Audio Thoughts: Narrated By Jack Dupont/Length: 9 hrs and 41 minsJack was great! I enjoyed his female voices almost as much as his male voices. He nailed Jake though and that was all kinds of sexy !Library Book Review

A good paranormal romance with a decent plot spiced with humor. The hero offered a new perspective on the whole immortal situation and it's always nice to visit the Argeneau family. Painter Nicole agrees to hire cook/housekeeper Jake not knowing he is a bodyguard.

Marguerite is worried about her Housekeeper's niece, she appears to be attracting accidents, and with a messy divorce in the works Nicole Phillips is making her worried. She turns to her nephew, Jake, who hasn't really adjusted to being a vampire, but he has just finished his current assignment. Marguerite convinces him to play housekeeper, but he's not that great in the kitchen. However when the artist and the security expert meet the sparks fly.I really wanted Nicole to insist that cookery lessons be in Jake's future...

I enjoyed this book. Jake is typical of many of Lyndsay Sands Agreneau characters. He does what he has to for the family, but runs into many obstacles in the process. Marguerite Argeneau Notte is never wrong about mates and she always manages to manipulate situations to help matters along. Nicole has had a difficult time in her life and is surprised to end up with an attractive male housekeeper who just happens to be keeping her safe. I like this series because it always has funny, entertaining scenes throughout the book. The development of characters is wonderful and it makes keeping up with the series worth the time and money to purchase the book. Warning: you will probably want to read the entire series if you read just one book.

**Review written for an originally posted on my blog, Book Bliss. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased and honest review**Review:3.5 starsGeneral: Please note that this is the 19th book in the series. I in no way felt I needed to have read the previous 18 and in fact have not. I’ve always heard great things about the series and when the opportunity to obtain a copy came up I happily jumped at the chance. I wasn’t as intrigued as i thought I would but I still found the story and the world very entertaining. I would love to read others in the series as I think the biggest downfall for myself was within the characters, not the story itself. This story isn’t your traditional romance formula. I did and didn’t enjoy that. I loved the mix in with the mystery that was the premise for Jake and Nicole coming together. However, I felt that in terms of the romance the novel did not pick up until about halfway through. For me, I like to read it in the forefront when I’m in the genre. The world however is fantastic and very well thought out. I can completely understand the popularity behind these novels. The book itself was compelling. Every tidbit I got about the V.A. and the rest of the backstory had me pushing forward through the book for more. I’m not certain if it didn’t jive strongly with the characters because I had not read the others or if perhaps these two characters didn’t do the world she created justice.Characters: Nicole Phillips- I personally did not enjoy Nicole. She is ending a nasty divorce at the onset of the book and I felt that the Nicole we met in the beginning was not the Nicole that appeared in the middle. Not due to a change, but simply that despite narration from her POV we weren’t getting all the details. Suddenly her mind changes on a bunch of things as far as the reader can tell, only Nicole stats it’s always been that way. Also, her denial and lack of self esteem just didn’t do it for me. I loved that she had an original career and had hopes of something more from her.Jake Colson (Stephano Jacob Colson Notte): Jake was the strong of the characters here. In my reading it seems he was in other books prior so that may be the reason. He seemed well thought out and had potential to be a very sexy, dominant vamp. But I felt it was hidden by his need to run and deny who he was. However, he seemed hard to “fall” for and I didn’t find his lack of emotions towards pretty much anything entertaining.

A nice fit with the rest of the series. Enjoyable, a small surprise with the bad guy.
