    Ashton is just a typical small town. But when a skeptical reporter and a prayerful pastor begin to compare notes, they suddenly find themselves fighting a  hideous New Age plot to subjugate the townspeople, and eventually the entire human race. The battle rages in the spirit world between Rafar, leading his legions from the world of darkness, and Tal, leading his army of angels. The battle is unseen by the townspeople but they feel its presence and the vortex of evil threatening to annihilate them. Pastor Hank Busche and newspaperman Marshall Hogan join the battle and lead the human crusade against the evil demons. The fighting is vicious and the outcome is unforgettable.

      I first read this book back in 1991. I enjoyed it so much that now I have read/listened to this book at least a dozen times. What surprises me most, is that each time I seem to glean something that I hadn't in my previous readings. My only disappointment occurred when the first audiobook I listened to was the abridged version. If you have a choice, do not go for the abridged version. It leaves out soooo much.

      This is an all time 5 star book for me. I read it a long time ago and the audio had me cheering and crying and in suspense just like when I read it. Excellent book. It is hard to follow in the beginning, but well worth it by chapter 3.

      Wonderful to hear this again - I haven’t read it for maybe 30 years! I didn’t love the narrator’s high voice when speaking for the women in the book - it didn’t work well played at the high speed I like. But he did a great job reading the climax of the battle with the right intonation

      It's a story. A very well written one. There is suspense and intrigue. There is gospel. A balanced approach may be needed between the story and reality. There are demons, but humanity is also fallen. At times I need to own my own sin, and not shift the blame to the spiritual dimensions

      This is an amazing story of the fight with the principalities and evil rulers of this earth!!!!! What an eye opening story that TRULY makes you think of the battles that are being waged for our very souls!!! It is also a very encouraging story that shows the importance of our prayers!! Our God doesn’t need us to win because we already know the end of the story but oh how this story absolutely makes you want to be a part of the fight!!! And the power of the name JESUS!!!!!!

      Wow, book was so amazing. Really encourages me to pray for people and to understand the spiritual world around us and how to fight for myself and for other people.
      It was so hard to stop listening until the final ending words. Frank Peretti is a great writer.
      I have to say the guy, Jack, who read it was amazing as well. He helped make it even better. He had a different voice for each character, and knew how to use voice inflections to make their personalities come through. I loved this book and love reading FP’s books. I was on a long trip and listening while driving was a great way to pass the hours.

      Not only is this book well written, the message of prayer and the power of God over darkness is amazing! I also loved the narrator…he brought this story to life!

      The book itself was mind-blowing. If you are a Christian and you are only vaguely aware of the happenings in the spiritual realm, then this book is for you. It is extremely enlightening for the Christian soul and spiritual eyes. The audio production is not great -- it's a bit tinny and I can hear the narrator breathe (which I hate!), but this audiobook was released quite a long time ago, so that is to be expected.

      I read this book many years ago. It came to my mind a few days ago and checked to see if Scribd had. To my joy, it was here. This book opens your eyes to what is probably go on in the unseen, but very much felt, spirit world around us. Pray saints of God! Pray!!

      I cant figure out which audiobook is the right one. one on here is 18 hours the other is 3 hours. which one is the entire book? I dont want to waste my time listening to the wrong one...

      This is a book which my dad has been wanting me to read for ages but he didn’t want to push me to read it because of how heavy the subject matter is. Five days ago I started listening and what I saw was beauty. The beauty of Gods plan for our lives. WARNING: You will be convicted. Not for the light of heart but you WILL see the evidence of God. I highly recommend this book!

      This book can truly open your eyes to what battles go on in the heavenlies. It gives great insight into spiritual warfare & will definitely change your prayer life. Yes, the storyline can be a little cheesy at times but the message it delivers about spiritual warfare is definitely true.
