About this audiobook

The third and final installment in Karina Halle's USA Today bestselling Artists Trilogy, now available in mass market paperback.

The Faster They Live, the Harder They Fall . . .

Raised by con artists, Ellie Watt has a lot of crazy childhood memories-but none crazier than being scarred with acid by the demented crime boss Travis Raines. Now Ellie is a full-grown woman who lives for revenge, and Travis is a full-blown drug lord who kills for pleasure. The sadistic bastard has kidnapped her good friend Gus as well as her mother, whom he's been holding as prized possessions in his heavily guarded lair. And Ellie has only one chance in hell of getting them out alive-using two dangerous men who love her to death . . .

One is Camden McQueen, a talented tattoo artist who's made a permanent mark on Ellie's heart. The other is Javier Bernal, her fiery ex-lover who's busted more than a few heads in his time. From the crime-ridden streets of Mexico City to the predatory jungles of Honduras, this unlikely trio forms an uneasy alliance in the deadliest game of all-a gun-blazing battle to the finish that will pit enemy against enemy and lover against lover. And Ellie must choose the right man to trust . . . or die.

Was I obsessed with these characters? Not particularly.

Was I obsessed with the romance or who will she choose? Not particularly.

Was I obsessed with the story? YES.

This series as a whole is completely compelling, and I have no idea why.

If asked about the characters separately I would say meh, but holy hannah put them all together and what a blender full of betrayal and drama. I feel like that doge meme. So wow. Much drama. Lies. Mentally I processed these things but never felt a lot of emotion behind them.

Can't explain it but I devoured this series and yet I still feel very ambivalent about it.
Anyway, read it in order and don't even think about just dipping your toe in, you must read all the books to get to the end of the cliffhangers.

And yes, I will be reading the authors "Dirty Angels" series. I read the synopsis of all the books and of course Halle is using characters that were in this series. So of course I must read and find out what happens to them. I really feel like Halle will improve.

    Wow. Just wow!
This final installment of The Artist Trilogy doesn't disappoint! Packed full of action, deceit, betrayal, hot sex, twist and turns, Bold Tricks is just the ending needed for this series!

I have to admit I am sad to see the characters go. For me Ellie really did redeem herself in this book for all the screw ups she made in the last book. Javier is more ruthless than I remembered, but yet somehow in someways he had some redeeming qualities.. Until he opens his mouth again. Camden oh sweet sexy Camden. He is just as badass as I needed him to be and yet still sweet and sexy as all get out.

So much more could be said, but I don't want to spoil! Amazing end to an amazing trilogy!

With more lives at stake and games in motion, Ellie, Camden and Javier form an uneasy alliance that will take them from the treacherous streets of inner-city Mexico to the wilds of the Honduran jungles in order to find their freedom. But with liberty just on the horizon, the cost might come at their own redemption.Ellie, Camden, and Javier form a bizarre alliance after the plan of Javier's for Ellie to poison Travis Raines ended in total disaster. Both Javier and Camden had come to rescue Ellie once they learned that her dinner date was actually being held at Raines' Veracruz estate. It was her mother that actually blew her cover at the party, so shocked to see her daughter next to Travis that she called her by name, dropping the serving tray she'd been carrying. Ellie took advantage of the momentary confusion to run like hell, straight into the headlights of the Jeep Javier had parked in the jungle, right up to the edge of the estate lawn. Ellie was sure she was dead until Javier and Camden called out to her and hustled her into the Jeep, taking off almost before everyone was in the car.The problem was that Gus, who'd come down with Camden to rescue Ellie from Javier, had been shot in the stomach. Javier told Ellie that Travis Raines now had Gus. But before they could go rescue Gus they had to go get his youngest sister to safety, as she was too vulnerable to a rival cartel. But Violetta lives in Mexico City, which isn't too close to Travis Raines' compound in the middle of the Sierra de Agalta National Park, which was located in the middle of the jungle in Honduras. A compound that could only be reached by helicopter of hiking through the Honduran jungle.Hiking in, their small group finally stops to rest for the night. Ellie sits between Camden's legs and leaning back against his chest. When she wakes she discovers that she's completely alone, completely alone in the jungle. Everyone and their equipment - all gone. No one answers her yells. Terrified for herself and Camden she heads off in the same direction they'd been going the day before, when she suddenly spies a bloody, shredded canvas. A few feet away she spots Camden, flat out on the ground. She manages to rouse him and he tells her what little he knows, which matches what she's already figured out; they've been abandoned in the middle of a jungle in Honduras. With Gus and her mother still Travis' captives they have no choice but to go on and do their best to rescue them. Eventually they locate the estate. Once inside the compound they set out to rescue Gus and Amelie, though they know their odds have gone from slim to virtually non-existent. They locate and free Ellie's mom, only to learn that Gus was not, and had never been, at the compound. Javier had lied to them, again. If faced with it, would Ellie save Camden or her mother? Would any of them make it out of this trap alive? And if they did, how would they find Gus and rescue him? If they pulled that miracle off how would they get Ben away from his mother? So many risky things to do, but they loved each other and that would have to be enough to see them through. . .Ellie's slow belief that she could be good was enjoyable to watch. Even though she made mistakes, she learned that she could forgive herself the past and let it go. Especially if Camden still lived her and believed in her, which at times was a giant question mark, for she had destroyed him over and over again through the years. Ellie has become a more and more sympathetic character as the series progressed, which made Camden's devotion to her more believable. Would his love for her outweigh her mistakes as she learned that she was worthy of being loved, and of loving in return? Watching her discover the truth of what Gus had told her, that love and obsession are not the same thing, was both painful and liberating. Meanwhile, Camden has slowly revealed more layers and depth as the story has developed. He also has a dark side, which I think he possessed before Ellie shattered his heart in high school, and again later on. It was a relief seeing him let that anger and rage lose on appropriate targets, as no one can contain that much suppressed violence without eventually snapping. His dreams in this book were interesting, because the darkness he saw could easily have been Javier or at part of himself. The question is, did he recognize that, or was he seeing the easy interpretation? Could Ellie and Camden overcome the overwhelming odds stacked against them? You'll just have to read this final book in the series to find out.

amazing book and perfect conclusion to a series. I want all contemporary romance authors to read this series and understand the difference between a great story told over the span of three books and stretching a plot for the sake of sales. this book must be read in series order. it holds you to the last word and then you get that I've just read an awesome book feeling. I read more than most people and I'm always looking for authors that can pull that feeling off more than once. Katrina Halle does it every time. this series,Dex and the devil's metal. all so good. read this series and then go buy her backlist. I promise you won't be able to stop until you've read them all.

The final installment in the Artists Trilogy was a fun ride. I must admit that I got everything tied up in pretty much the way I wanted it. I'm not usually a "must have HEA ending" kind of girl but I quite liked it here, even when I thought it was getting a bit soppy & bordering on eyeroll worthy (the Earth/Moon bit, so much). I was glad that I was right about Gus & wish that there'd been more time to learn about Ellie's mother. The information given was done in sort of an info-dump by Derek & while informative just didn't make me feel connected to the character & I didn't feel right along with Ellie when things unfolded. I admit to not liking Sophie in the previous books but I didn't quite remember her being wholly morally bankrupt but that certainly was the way she finished here. I didn't think she was a good person but I did think she had a care for her child. I don't know how I missed that not being the case at all in the previous books. Javier, I was never a fan of & I was glad that Ellie finally caught on to him & let him go. I liked Violetta & the acknowledgement she's given at the end.

These books were the first I've read by Karina Halle but I've no doubt I'll read more from her. I'm usually terrible about actually finishing series but these came out so close together, that I think it helped me to get on & my interest hadn't waned. I wish more writers could pull that off.

An edgy, action-packed, mind-blowing conclusion to a PHENOMENAL SERIES! I LOVE these characters. ♥Ellie♥Camden♥Javier♥Gus♥ The Artists Trilogy is going down as one of my ALL-TIME favorite reads! Simply put, these books are PERFECTION. Not going to lie though, my greedy book-whorish ways leave me wanting more - I am insatiable. I don’t want to be responsible for spoiling anything so, this is all you get from me – Bold Tricks is a non-stop thrill ride, filled with nail-biting, wtf moments. Be ready to experience a wide range of emotions. "The snake and the bear, the man of stealth and lies, the man of soul and strength. Both men who had a stake in my heart at some point in the game. This ever changing game."I feel most fans of this series will be happy with this intense conclusion, regardless of which man you've been pulling for.(view spoiler) Karina created an amazing story and I loved every minute of it. Will Ellie be able to save those she loves and keep her heart intact? Team Camden vs Team Javier – or maybe Team Ellie – who are you pulling for? - For me, I am Team Ellie - it's always been her story.

Following the disastrous outcome of the events in Shooting Scars, Javier, Ellie and Camden are forced to team up to right the wrongs. Having the three thrown together forces Ellie to finally choose between the two men that stole her heart. Bold Tricks is the final installment of The Artists Trilogy where we finally get to see how everything culminates. Told from the sole point of view of Ellie, Bold Tricks maintains the violent and thrilling complexity we’ve come to expect. All loose ends are tied up sufficiently but without that picture perfect ending because that’s the least you could expect with a cast of characters like this. Is there a happily ever after? Well… I suppose that depends on which Team you’re on. I will say I was a bit disappointed at the portrayal of a certain character though, but won’t reveal who. My guess is it was a way of making Ellie’s choice a bit easier but that person’s actions seemed too out of character and didn’t fit as well with what we’ve come to expect. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this is not my normal genre and if I didn’t adore Karina Halle’s writing from her Experiment in Terror series then I likely would have never picked this up. Contemporary Romance is not my go-to genre, but the fascinating cast of characters is what truly makes this series shine. They may be written in such a way that makes them incredibly realistic, but they are in no way average nor predictable. I’m incredibly sad to see this series come to an end and despite my slight disappointment, Bold Tricks is still a satisfying enough end and a fantastic trilogy overall.
