About this audiobook

Stuck in an alternate universe during World War II, Lieutenant Commander Matthew Reddy of the U.S.S. Walker has found an unlikely but invaluable ally in Commodore Jenks of the New Britain Imperial Navy. And now they are united in their desire to hunt down the traitor who abducted two women both men would die to protect: Reddy's love, nurse Sandra Tucker, and young Princess Rebecca of the New British Empire.

But first they have a new battle to win.

However, this battle will not be fought with broadsides and broadswords, but with cunning and intrigue. For when Reddy and Jenks report the situation to the New Britain Company, they are met with scorn and disbelief. It soon becomes obvious that the ruthless Company is attempting to overthrow the Imperial Throne-and that someone involved knows where Sandra and Rebecca are.

From the halls of power to the ballrooms of the nobility, Reddy must navigate through a tempest of politics, deception, and betrayal if he is ever going to save the hostages and live to fight another day.

The Saga continues as the USS Walker and her crew trapped in a parallel universe battle the Grik, the Company, and search for the kidnapped Nurse Tucker and Princess Rebecca. These are honorable men whose perceptions of right vs. wrong in actions and human vs. other life forms being sentient and capable of being good or bad is challenged every step of the way. All is not as it seems, and the crew of the USS Walker and their friends must stay alert and take actions quickley.

Anderson has done another exciting book in #5 of the destroyermen series. From the title, I assumed that it would be a connecting book between the set up last book and whatever comes in the next one; I was not disappointed. Author balances several plot lines and finally brings a couple of them together at the end while cementing future actions. Where is book #6?

Captain Reddy and the Walker are sailing for what was in their universe the Hawaiian islands to find the princess and Sandra as well as find out if the Empire can be an Allie. A fun story and good read.

Anderson's saga just gets better and better. His imaginative world expands to include a Krakatoa inspired natural disaster, interesting new allies based in New Britain, aka the Hawaiian Islands and a Hispanic conquistador clone with ugly Inquisition overtones as a new enemy. I see many great books in our future. Please write faster and consider a Flintlike 1632 writing team to support and expand the effort.
