About this audiobook

New York's Lombardo's Steak House is famous for three reasons--the menu, the clientele, and now, the gruesome murder of an infamous mob lawyer. Effortlessly, the assassin slips through the police's fingers, and his absence sparks a blaze of accusations about who ordered the hit.

Seated at a nearby table, reporter Nick Daniels is conducting a once-in-a-lifetime interview with a legendary baseball bad-boy. Shocked and shaken, he doesn't realize that he's accidentally captured a key piece of evidence. Ensnared in the city's most sensational crime in years, Nick investigates for a story of his own. Back off--or die--is the clear message as he closes in on the facts. Heedless, and perhaps in love, Nick endures humiliation, threats, violence, and worse in a thriller that overturns every expectation and finishes with the kind of flourish only James Patterson knows.

I enjoyed the book.. and I don't really require my reading to be all that realistic... after all, I'm reading fiction, so I always give my authors lots of poetic license... but

how many times can you have your MC almost die? It almost became comical.

Good book, but he should have left out a couple of the near misses.

Dont blink was an action packed thriller from the first page to the last. Patterson has expectations and this was no let down. Nick Daniels is a journalist for the amazing magazine Citizen. And now a first hand witness to a mob murder. But it gets better, instead of turning in the evidence Nick caught accident he decides to chance the story, in order to to impress his editor, who happens to be the love of his life. Soon nick is caught up with the italian and russian mafias trying to prove one man innocent. I couldn't put this book down, Patterson has yet another hit!

Nick Daniels, a reporter for Citizen magazine, is meeting ex-New York Yankee pitcher Duane Robinson at Lombardo's Steak House when the man next to them is brutally murdered. It was a mob hit, and Nick may own the key to who the murderer was and why.

I enjoyed the characters and it was a very fast read. It doesn't claim to be clever or complicated and it isn't - it's just a fun book that can just be enjoyed.

By my count this is the 46th James Patterson book I have read. And my reviews for them all look pretty much the same except for the Alex Cross novels which are my absolute favourite. Why I love them:1)Short chapters2)Fast paced3)Freaking unbelievableNow although Patterson is criticised for joining up with other authors and writing several books a year, I find that I don't really care. I still really enjoy them and can read one in a day. I like that! As I have hundreds of books at home and I want to read them all. If they were all Patterson, they'd be done in no time at all. I do take a break from them time to time as I find myself turning into a bit of a detective. Plus then I want to trust no-one....These co-written books aren't as good as the original Patterson ones but as long as they can hold my interest, I find that I don't care much. All in all, a decent book by my standards. (Now to save this and copy and paste it for the next 20 Patterson books I have on my TBR)

I'm usually a huge fan of whatever James Patterson has written, but this book took me a bit longer than usual for me to get interested in. One big night at a famous steakhouse results in one huge "coincidental" loop of murders involving the mob. Despite taking me awhile to dive into this bull wholeheartedly, I still recommend it.

Nick Daniels is a journalist sitting down to an important interview with a reclusive sportsman when a hit man enters the Lombardo's Steak House and murders an infamous mob lawyer right in front of him. And so the action begins in Don't Blink from James Patterson and Howard Roughan.Don't Blink is what you'd expect in a stand alone novel from Patterson: a fast paced crime story with a few plot layers and the bad guy revealed in the end. What I didn't expect was a change in narration from first person and back again with the odd reference to the reader. This was a little strange. All in all, an entertaining and quick read, and another good one for Patterson fans who are looking for a stand alone read.

First off, I have to say Nick Daniels, the main character, has more lives than a cat! If this were real, he would seriously be the luckiest man living! From the first chapter, his life was in danger and he managed to outrun it and stay alive and this continued throughout all 300+ pages. I enjoyed this book as it was an easy and exciting read. I love James Patterson's writing and the fast pace of his books. From the prologue, the book has your attention. However, if you are squeamish or have a weak stomach, this book may not be for you. I was cringing by the end of the third page. It is a bit convoluted with a lot of unnecessary characters but all in all, it was a pretty good thriller!

I think Patterson is generally a love 'im or hate 'im kind of author. Some readers can't get enough; others can't get far enough away. Myself, I actually sit on the fence. I crave a good thriller now and then, but generally rush through them so fast that I feel rather empty and let down once I'm done. And I feel guilty the whole time I'm reading them because I can't put them down but think I should be doing something more worthwhile. Then there's the fact that they can be formulaic - you KNOW the main character will survive no matter how nail-biting the tension. So, I end up not reading as many thrillers as I'm really interested in.Audio books have been the perfect solution for me. I get my thriller fix while driving to and from work - no reason to feel guilty because I CAN'T be doing anything else; and I can't rush through them because I'm not the one doing the reading!I had a great time listening to the audio book version of DON'T BLINK by James Patterson and Howard Roughan. The authors don't blaze any new trails here, but they do assemble all the essential componants of a good thriller with an entertaining and humorous flair. The authors serve up a wise-cracking hero who can't help but find himself in desperate trouble; gruesomely horrible bad guys (and plenty of them); innocents held hostage; suspenseful twists and turns; and the hint of romance to provide a ray of hope and sunshine. If you like Patterson, you're sure to enjoy DON'T BLINK. If you're new to his writing, this is a great place to begin. The audio book runs approximately 7 hours. One caveat: if you listen while you're driving, be aware that the last half of the last CD contains traffic noises - horns blowing, sirens, etc. - that sound convincingly like the real thing!

Quick, fun book that follows James Patterson's collaboration format - short chapters that seem like scenes from a made-for-tv movie. Listened to it in a day while I painted and it was enjoyable, but I won't remember it six months from now.

There's not much originality in this fast paced crime thriller. Man witnesses murder; becomes target. Patterson adds the obligatory twists as he rushes through at breakneck speed, however implausibility distracts the flow on more than one occasion. The characterisation is below Patterson's usual standard since most of the narrative is used to create a level of intrigue, mostly by stonewalling the reader. Quite simply the novel doesn't succeed on any level. That said, it's short enough to see it through and it's entirely forgettable, it's still a piece of trashy fun.

Don't Blink is by far one of my favorite James Patterson books. He shows more humpor in his characters that he does Alex Cross or Michael Bennett. I love those series a well but I really enjoyed Don't Blink. It was an easy, fun read and I hope he writes more with this humor.

As I read this novel I expected flash words from old Batman and Robin comic books, POW, SMACK.Bruno Torenzi kills attorney Vincent Marcozza at a New York restaurant then shoots two New York Police Officers who were trying to arrest him. BANG, BANG.Reporter, Nick Daniels had been about to conduct an interview at a nearby table. He goes home and turns on his recorder and hears the voice of the killer. "I have a message from Eddie, Justice has no eyes." GULP.Nick knows that Marcozza was a lawyer for Eddie Pinero. The word is that Pinero ordered the hit because Marcozza failed to get him off on a loansharking charge.BOO HOO.Nick takes the evidence to the New York District attorney and things begin to happen in rapid succession. Torenzi is celebrating with a high priced porstitute when her Russian brothers enter the room thinking they will rob a nervous john. Instead, Torenzi reaches for his own gun and does them in. MOMMA.There are the usual colorful descriptions as police "barked," and killers have 'twisted grins."The book jacket describes this as a war between the Italian and Russian Mafia. The Russian Mafia has such a small part in this story that it's almost meaningless.OOPS!The novel is stimulating and the plot moves along swiftly as we follow Nick bungle his way from one near disaster to another while he attempts to solve the crime. WHACK!

I didn't like this book as much as most of the author's other books. It seemed to drag until the last 50 pages or so. Then it became the page-turner that most of the author's other books have been.

Mr. Patterson--It's about time! Your latest book is reminiscent of your writing style of your earlier works, and by that I mean that I really enjoyed the way the book flowed, liked the dialogue, and was intrigued by the plot.Nick Daniels, a reporter for the Citizen, shows up for one of the biggest interviews in his life--an interview with Dwayne Robinson. Some ten years ago, Dwayne, one of the Yankees' best pitchers EVER, never showed up for game seven to pitch what would have been his most important game in his life. Years later, many New Yorkers still want an explanation as to what happened on that infamous day, and Nick is about to learn the answer--or so he thinks. The chain of events set into action from that meeting is not at all what Nick expected as Nick is plunged into a situation that has him running from two rival Italian families with a Russian organized group thrown in for good measure. This is a quick and enjoyable read (read it in an afternoon) with good characters, a few twists and turns, and classic writing from James Patterson and Howard Roughan.

It has lots of action, car chases, bullets flying, dead bodies. The plot was OK but I think that this book is not really any different to some of his other books. The whole story rollercoasters along until the very last few pages and the final reveal of who the real baddie was. This always reminds me of Scooby Doo when the gang pull of the monster mask to reveal it was the caretaker ! I would say this book is readable and forgettable.

Another masterfully-crafted Patterson (Roughan)....suspense, tension, surprises, twists and turns at every page.“In the horror of those moments at Lombardo’s, as well as in the haze and commotion of the aftermath on the killing floor, I’d forgotten that I had already been recording when Vincent Marcozza and those cops were murdered.”“I didn’t get my interview with Dwayne Robinson. But what did I get? Page 66Lombardo's? Really? How could this happen in Lombardo's restaurant in the middle of the afternoon. And to top it off with a reporter close by and a famous baseball player waiting to be interviewed....really?Nick Daniels was the unlucky reporter who had been in the restaurant when the murders occurred...he actually had recorded it and didn't realize it....he hoped the murderer didn't realize it either....but could that really be kept a secret when it is common knowledge that reporters carry habitually-on tape recorders especially when they are planning to interview someone?Restaurants, tape recorders, reporters, organized crime, a woman...all this wrapped up into one to make Nick's life miserable and dangerous, but thrilling.Don't Blink was very fast paced (maybe in honor of its title?) and a gripping page turner....the author(s) left a thought hanging at the end of one section and immediately picked it up within two sentences at the start of the next chapter. Storyline was excellent. I really enjoyed the book. 5/5

James Patterson's dont blink is an action/suspense book all based around alleged mob killings in broad daylight. Patterson brings the reader striaght to the streets of New York to witness it all.Dont Blink is about a risk-taking writer, for New Yorks "Citizen" Magazine, as he unravels mysteries tied to the Mafia. It all starts out when he goes to interview an Ex-Major legue pitcher, when half way through recording they witness a gresome murder in the booth next to them. Coincidently he gets a recording of the murderer saying chilling words, But was it a coincident? Read the book to find out.

Don’t Blink is a fast paced, first-person, action thriller ostensibly written by James Patterson, but really written by his co-writer. Nick Daniels is a journalist who, after a harrowing adventure in Africa, finds himself embroiled in a big conspiracy as he goes to a high end New York steakhouse to interview a former Yankee pitcher who found his career disgraced. While at the restaurant, he wintesses a Mafia hitman kill a mobster lawyer by removing his eyes, and in the process obtains a damning voice recording. Nick then works with the district attorney and does his own investigation and learns that not is all as it seems to be as the Mob boss alleged to be behind the crime was actually set up by another Mob boss.I tend to like the James Patterson novels that he doesn’t actually write more than the ones that he does write, oddly enough. That is the case in this novel. The novel moves at a quick pace and has high drama and believable conspiracies. Nick Daniels is a good character and I enjoyed his narrative voice. There’s a lot of twists and turns, and just when it seems the story is over, there is more to it. This was a well-written thriller that I would recommend reading.Carl Alves – author of Blood Street
