About this audiobook

Orpheus-To most he's an enigma, a devil-may-care rogue who does whatever he pleases whenever he wants. Now this loose cannon is part of the Eternal Guardians-elite warriors assigned to protect the human realm-whether he likes it or not.

Orpheus has just one goal: to rescue his brother from the underworld. He's not expecting a woman to get in the way. Especially not a Siren as gorgeous as Skyla. He has no idea she's an assassin sent by Zeus to seduce, entrap, and ultimately destroy him.

Yet Skyla herself might have the most to lose. There's a reason Orpheus feels so familiar to her, a reason her body seems to crave him. Perhaps he's not the man everyone thinks . . . The truth could reveal a deadly secret as old as the Eternal Guardians themselves.

Meh, entertaining enough, but formulaic and repetitive.

Enraptured is the fourth book in the Eternal Guardians, and I was able to get a copy of it in audio format, and what a wild ride of adventure and romance this one turned out to be. Ever since I started reading this series, I fell mad for it. I have a certain weakness to mythology, and you mix it in with some romance...you have quite a gem. Enraptured is a story I have been waiting long to read. Quite frankly ever since the first book, I have feel enraptured by Orpheus myself...he is such a bad boy with a good heart underneath it all...and so I was super excited to start his story and see how he got his HEA. Enraptured begins with Orpheus, is out to rescue his brother who is trapped in the underworld, due to his mistake. So on his search, he runs into a siren,Skyla. Skyla has been a siren for two thousand years, but there is a reason she has stayed one for so long. She knows secrets about Orpheus, secrets that are hidden from him, and secrets that tie them together in ways that she doesn't even know. When Zeus sends her on a mission, she doesn't expect to feel these strong feelings again, because she and Orpheus once loved each other, but Orpheus was given a second chance at life, and she hopes he doesn't remember his past or he might hate her forever. Even though she has been sent on a mission, she can't deny her feelings for this Guardian, who may be part demon, but in her mind he is far from a man without a soul. He is a hero, who on the surface acts with a devil may care personality, but underneath that tough shell, is a man she admires and loves more than life itself. When danger comes storming on their doorstep, she will do anything she can to save Orpheus even from himself. Enrapture is quite a stimulating read and packed quite a punch. It had everything I would come to expect from this author and more. I was completely blown over by how well this story was written and it passed every expectation I had, and as a added plus, the narrator did a wonderful job in portraying the characters and tone of the story with the inflection of her voice, so it is a winner in my book. We have a second chance love story...which is always my favorite types, and their is a bit of a forbidden love, but boy do they overcome obstacles and find their way together. They were a great pair, and really had a connection, and in the beginning it is just physical, but as the story progresses we see much more depth to their relationship, and when you combine that with the exciting plot, you have quite a jewel. Overall a paranormal romance, mixed with danger and passion and quite a bit conflict, some hard to win battles, and a love that never dies....IRRESISTIBLE!!!

I just couldn't get into the plot and some of the characters were a bit annoying, so I was never able to finish reading the book.

The son of an Argonaut father and a Medean mother with a Daemon alter-ego to boot, Orpheus has always been the black sheep of the family. This all changes when his brother, Gryphon’s, soul is sent to Tartarus and Orpheus swears to rescue his sibling from the underworld with the aid of the Orb of Kronos. Unfortunately, other forces are determined to locate the Orb for themselves and Orpheus will have to deal with powerful Gods, vengeful enemies and a beautiful Siren with a mysterious link to his past.

Once again, Naughton’s research is fantastic and the incorporation of elements from Greek mythology adds a gripping layer to the overall story arc. Sadly, Orpheus and Skyla’s romance is rather dull and disappointing.

Orpheus has been a fascinatingly ambiguous character throughout the series. His scheming machinations combined with an obvious affection for his brother and hints at an underlying current of goodness have made him particularly appealing as a hero. While he mostly lives up to this characterization and the insights into his personality are compelling, Orpheus internal struggle with his daemon lacks detail and is resolved too easily.

Skyla, the Siren assassin sent to kill Orpheus and retrieve the Orb, is simply uninteresting as a heroine. She fails to really stand out in any way and it is even difficult to picture exactly what she looks like despite the necessary descriptions. While she and Orpheus have tremendous potential as a couple, their chemistry falls flat and the resolution to their relationship, which is supposed to be intense and emotional, fails to completely resonate.

In contrast, Maelea with her conflicting forces of light and dark is a far more intriguing character and I’m looking forward to seeing how these are related to Gryphon’s tortured soul in the next book.

This book took me longer than average to read. Most likely cause I was busy but I didn't get into it as much as the others. I really liked Orpheus, and Skyla was a strong match. The story progressed well and I am looking forward to the next in the series. Gryphon's story.

10 days later... Ok so this is the downfall of my kindle.. page numbers are not listed.. I now know that this book was longer than an average book.. explaining why it took longer! :)

I did not know, picking this up, that it was the fourth in an ongoing series, but am impressed as it worked quite well as a stand-alone, and I got just enough backstory to understand the world without drowning in it.

Orpheus has become an Eternal Guardian upon the death of his brother, even though he is also possessed of a daemon. He's pursuing Maelea, the bastard daughter of Persephone and Zeus, who he believes can help direct him to a way to bring his brother Gryphon back from the Underworld. Only, Maelea doesn't want to stay and chat, she's fleeing him, with the help of a Siren.

Who happens to be Orpheus's past love, in another life. The sexual tension sizzles, and Skyla is herself a wounded creature of sorts. Of course, they will find a way to team up and overcome their past hurts.

An interesting recasting of the Greek pantheon, with Persephone being quite the bitch on wheels, Hades something of a dick (if a powerful one), Athena being head of the Sirens, kind of an Amazon band, and Atalanta having a significant role in this world. My one quibble was about a third of the way in, a lot of names/characters jumped into the story at once, it felt like.

The torturing of Gryphon is horrific - one day being ravaged by hungry vultures, the next day reincarnated to be stung to death by spiders, yet another day to be bitten repeatedly by poisonous snakes.

Really good, really dark, with lots of twists and turns. Definitely going to want to catch up on the rest of the series.

I came across the first two book of the Eternal Guardian series in a discount bin at Walmart. I had never heard of Elisabeth Naughton before but I'm always on the look out for a new series and new to me authors. When I spotted two books in the same series I picked them up. When I read the synopsis the story line intrigued me so I bought them. They sat in my to be read pile for awhile until one day I decided I wanted a different theme then the ones I was reading. I started and finished Marked and Entwined in a day and a half. As soon as I was done I ran out and bought Tempted. I pre-ordered Enraptured as soon as I was able to and waited very impatiently. It was worth the wait this book is the best so far! Each book is from several points of view with the main focus on one of the eternal guardians and their love interest. The main characters in Enraptured is Orpheus and Skyla. He is an Argolean/Medean/daemon hybrid and newest member of the Argonauts and She is a siren and one of Zues' best assassins and both of them are stubborn smart-asses who think they're to dark and screwed up to be loved or to open up to love. Orpheus has been my favorite character from book one. I'm a sucker for the hero who thinks he's to damaged to actually be one. And to be honest I love the brooding sexy man who hides behind a bad attitude with sarcasm and smart-ass remarks and even though he goes though some changes in this book I think he will always be my favorite Argonaut. Skyla is new to this book but I easily like her from the beginning. She is a perfect match for Orpheus. I think there's are the hottest and most erotic scenes in the series. And I love there constant battle to keep the upper hand on each other. With all of that said I don't need to tell you that I love this book! This book brings out emotion like any great book should. There are very strong female and even "stronger" males in this book. Lots of anticipation and action all the way though. With any great novel there is what I like to call the "grab your tissues" part of the book. That's when the tears spill over and from then on forget it your a girl they aren't stopping until the end. Now without giving any spoilers away I'm going to tell you what the two sentences in the book were for me.....Relief and something else, something he couldn't define, seeped into Orpheus's chest. "Thank you Dimiourgos," he wispered......Yah when you get there bring out the box of tissue you'll need it! (Dimiourgos is the Argolean word for creator). And then this (a tasty teaser for all) "I choose you Deamon or no deamon not. Argonaut or not. Zeus and Athena are wrong about you, Orpheus. You're not evil"..."How can you be sure?"...."Because I watched you with your brother. An evil soul can't love like that"..."I don't have a soul-"...Yes, you do. One that deserves so much more than you've been given." Ok all I can say is WOW!!! I love this series and this book is my favorite of the four by far. I recommend that anyone who has not picked up these books and read them do so as soon as possible! If your a lover of books like I am then I promise you, you will love this series.
