This was good insight into Maxon and Aspen.
A very good series so far!

    The Prince
don't know, maybe I expect too much of this one, honestly.

I wanted a previous story, a deeper look inside The Prince's head and past.

A small section of it was new, but so much of it was just a rehash, too, so I'm very waffly on it.

    The Guard
Maybe it's that I'm just not an Aspen fan, or maybe it's just that I feel like Aspen is so very incredibly fixated on The One Girl and nothing else in his life means anything but The One Girl, but I'm just not rooting for Aspen or moved by Aspen? Then, again, it could be, also, that this book is strangely set up to only match Aspen's sides of America's chapters in this piece, instead of really telling me everything he gets up to while America is off living her Princess Becoming life.

I enjoyed these short stories but I have to admit I much preferred Maxon's story over Aspen's. There's just something about Aspen that rubs me the wrong way and makes me want to yell at him. I do not see him as a viable match for America in any way possible. I felt that these stories were a little too short as it always takes me a few minutes to get in to this world and the lives of America, Maxon and company. But this was a nice little appetizer to hold me over until the final book comes out.

It was ok. I didn't think it added much to the story overall.

Maxon and Aspen's perspectives add little to the story, exploring Maxon's relationship further with his father was intriguing.

I could very well be wrong about this, but I feel like these short stories were written to try and bring in more money. I hate both of these characters, so I probably shouldn't have bothered reading these stories, but I do like Kiera Cass's writing style. Now if only she'd give us some characters we actually cared about she could write an amazing story.

SPOILER ALERT! I'm kind of over the whole "from the boy's perspective thing." Why can't we just be happy with the women's POV? That being said these stories were enjoyable, but I wish Aspen's story was set later in the timeline because I really want to know how the whole him and Lucy thing came about.

I love reading the half books about other characters in series I'm reading. They give me a different perspective of important scenes from the main books.

OK so Aspen may be a decient hearted person, BUT, I still don't trust him with America. Something is just off somewhere. Can't place it but it's there. Still Team Maxon. But I loved getting to hear the guys tell the tale. The preview is such a tease! I can't wait for May's release of "The ONE".

The Prince and The Guard are companion stories to the Selection series. These stories give us a glimpse into the backgrounds of America Singer's two beaux. We get to learn the weight of pressure Prince Maxon lives under, and the poor family Guard Aspen left behind.
