#1 New York Times bestseller! In a high-suspense race against time, three of the most unlikely heroes Stephen King has ever created try to stop a lone killer from blowing up thousands. “Mr. Mercedes is a rich, resonant, exceptionally readable accomplishment by a man who can write in whatever genre he chooses” (The Washington Post).
The stolen Mercedes emerges from the pre-dawn fog and plows through a crowd of men and women on line for a job fair in a distressed American city. Then the lone driver backs up, charges again, and speeds off, leaving eight dead and more wounded. The case goes unsolved and ex-cop Bill Hodges is out of hope when he gets a letter from a man who loved the feel of death under the Mercedes’s wheels…
Brady Hartsfield wants that rush again, but this time he’s going big, with an attack that would take down thousands—unless Hodges and two new unusual allies he picks up along the way can throw a wrench in Hartsfield’s diabolical plans. Stephen King takes off on a “nerve-shredding, pulse-pounding race against time” (Fort Worth Star-Telegram) with this acclaimed #1 bestselling thriller.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Gripping story, great characters, that are introduced late in the narrative but still have the ability to grow on you. Great narrator too
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a fantastic story. I look forward to reading more of the “finders keepers” related books.
A note on the audio. Although the narrator is well spoken and read, the volume is wildly variable. Numerous times I had to turn the audio all the way up, only to have it blaring a sentence later. I would have given 5 stars if not for that. Thanks. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Good story. Sad but well developed with a great ending!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It started out slow, and I almost quit the audiobook, but I continued listening. It turned out to be great. There's lots of curse words, which I dislike, but if you can ignore that, I think you'll enjoy it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So good!
I loved the dialogue and character development in this book. I really appreciated the flawed characters and self awareness they possessed as well. Excellent plot. Loved the narrator as well! 5-stars! - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I tore through this one in a day. I would put it solidly in the thriller category. Great pacing, compelling characters, well plotted and believable. I look forward to the next one!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Not your normal Stephan King, but I fell in love with the characters.. I came here after giving the tv show a chance, so I could listen to the audiobook and hear what actually happened in the writers head. (I listened at work)
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A typical Stephen King, if you like his writing, you'll like this.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Will Patton voices this series so well, and holly is my favorite character king has ever created
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5He is a master story teller. Immersive, as always
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent. For those that like tangible and realistic plotting this one is highly believable. Enjoyed it as much or more than Billy Summers... Mr. Paxton did a nice job also. Another one that makes a movie play in one's minds eye. ?
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great story, interesting and unpredictable to the end. Great pace and lovely, deep characters. It was a fresh experience with enough of Steven King's usual style to make for a unique read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Deep, masterfully well developed characters. You will want more of this trio!! A nail bitingly tense, suspense filled story told from both sides. On one side you have the good guy that is so relatable. On the other, King takes you so deep into the twisted mind of a psychopath. An outstanding read (listen)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really enjoyed this book. Reader is amazing and the book was intriguing..... Now I'm interested in finding out how holly and will ended up in the outsider
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Good God, can Stephen King write a book or what! I loved everything about this book, especially the raging sick psycho Brady and the squad of 3 that chase him to a thrilling end. They were all wonderfully written. Thank you, Mr. King, for showing that people with mental illness can be heroes for themselves and others.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The characters, so diverse yet fit together perfectly. Great read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The narrator was great! I didn’t want to stop listening to this book
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Stephen King is my favorite! This book was great. Now I can watch it on Netflix
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Read this book. One of kings best. Read the whole series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent read. Shorter and far more straightforward than a typical King novel, with not a single supernatural element in evidence, this felt a bit off-kilter but is probably the closest thing to a "normal" story Uncle Steve has written in many-a-year. Hugely enjoyable & highly recommended.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent book. Enjoyed the way Bill
Patton reads. He does a great job - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Classic Stephen King. He is a master at character development, plot, and dialogue. Very entertaining book. Great delivery from reader.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5reading it the first time I devoured it probably missing a few things Listening to it I had to listen at the readers pace and caught some things I had missed. I thourghly enjoyed listening to this book. And I Love Stephen King!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The characters in this book are right up there with some of King's best! Thrilling and hard to put down!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Honeybun is as evil as the villain in “Silence of the Lambs,” and let us not forget that the killer in that novel & film wasn”t Hannibal the cannibal. King keeps us wondering if Honeybun is the perp-perk.
Chronic racism, a retired cop, a blue Mercedes killer car, a serial mass killer, and a boy band concert are compost for this thriller - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5New favorite king book narration was really great as well
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The story and characters kept me interested, but i was amazed by the narrnarraion.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Outstanding. A classic master author! Mr. King has outdone himself. Will Patton is a badass.
