      After receiving this book from Library Thing I was so intrigued I had to start the series at the beginning. It has definitely become one of my favorites. I just finished reading Her Last Whisper and Robards didn't disappoint. With this latest cliff hanger I am going to have to get the next book ASAP to see what has happened between my favorite character and her ghostly lover. This book in the series touches home for one of the characters by a serial killer taking her sister. It shows us a more in depth look at one of these lesser characters. Truly a great read!

      I love Karen Robards. Her books are all different, so this being the third in this series, I thought I knew what to expect. I was not disappointed. Charlie is still seeing, sensing, hearing and talking to ghosts and spirits as well as helping to solve crimes involving serial killers. Based on the ending, I think another one will be forthcoming and I can not wait.

      Having read the first book of the series, I was excited to see it was offered in the Early Reviewers section, and was very happy to receive it. I really enjoy the premise of the story, which is a ghost clinging to a psychologist who studies serial killers. But I was very annoyed by Robards' method of writing in this novel. Her constant use of parenthetical verbiage interrupted the flow of my reading. And the overlong sentences were a bore. As a result, it took me an overly long time to read it. All in all, I could have given this book a 4 or 5 star rating if it weren't for her writing method. It made me not want to read another book of hers.

I mean it has a TSTL leading lady (seriously she even calls herself out), a love triangle between a ghost & living man (oddly I am rooting for the serial killer ghost), AND the stories tend to freaking end with a cliffhanger (WHAT THE WHAT??). Yet I freaking love reading these. They are the exception apparently to every rule I set when picking up a book. Maybe the secret is throwing them all in and make me care how it all turns out!Audio Thoughts: Narrated by: Ann Marie Lee /Length: 13 hrs and 57 mins I love this series on Audio. Ann Marie does a fantastic job with all the characters. Her character nuances are right on and her accents are pretty authentic.       When I read the copy on the jacket of Her Last Whisper and saw it described as a "paranormal romance thriller", I wondered why I had ever requested an advance reader copy of the book. So I began reading...cautiously.... and was surprised. I am an avid reader of the murder mystery/thriller genre but romances are not my thing. I still have some reservations about some parts of the book, but as a whole it was a good story. The book was well-written and the characters were rounded and well thought out. The story moved along quite well and kept me interested. I would recommend this book to both romance and thriller lovers alike. A pleasant surprise.

      I have enjoyed previous books from this author yet for me this series fell somewhat short of her usual writings. All in all, Her Last Whisper was an enjoyable quick read by Karen Robards.

      I received this book as an ARC from Random House. I started reading this book and made it about three chapters before I had to stop, get the first two books from the library, read them, then come back to this one and start it over. It is most definitely part of a series, and makes no sense if read on its own.The interplay between the characters is well done, and develops nicely over the course of the stories. The mystery in this third book is interesting and just as dark and gritty as the first two. My only complaints are that the ending explanations felt a bit contrived and the end was lacking denouement. The hook for the next book at the very end also seemed tacked on. That said, I will definitely be keeping an eye out for it. If you've read and enjoyed Robards' books before, you won't be disappointed by this series.

      Well I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I don't remember reading the 2nd book in this series so now I will have to go back and read that one. I read the first one in this series also an ARC. I really didn't know how this series would be. I enjoyed this book.Dr. Stone has her ghost with her still and is now hearing more voices. In the last book she had drowned and was brought back from death. Not sure how that affected her being able to hear voices in her head.Again she is working with a serial killer and things go wrong. A hunter comes for her ghost and Tony the FBI agent needs her for a case in Las Vegas.I was able to figure out who the serial killer was before the ending but didn't expect the accomplices. Now I am not sure if there is another book in the works.

      I received this book in exchange for a review. This is the third book in the series and I have to say they keep getting better. I had issues with the main character in the first book, but she has definitely grown and evolved. I am now completely hooked on this series. Charlie is a doctor who studies serial killers and Michael was a convicted serial killer before he died. That's right Michael is a ghost and Charlie can see him and hear him. They work together with a special FBI team to catch serial killers. There is a lot of steamy romance and some real scary moments. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for what comes next.

      Well, I have really been enjoying this series but this one was a bit boring. There was too much Michael and Charlie and not enough mystery/investigation. I grew tired of Charlie and Michael arguing about what Charlie should do. It got so repetitive. However, once we got past all the angst and drama, the story really picked up and became much more interesting. I hope in the future we will see more investigation and lest paranormal lust.

      This is another author that I have read a few books from but it has been a while. While I have not read the other books in this series involving Charlotte Stone titled, The Last Victim and The Last Kiss Goodbye, I had not issues jumping right into this book. That is one of the nice things about reading mystery novels as you can usually read them as stand alones. While I liked the dynamics of Charlotte and her ghost love, Michael. I felt that the rest of the story was a little dull and not as strong. In fact, I can not remember some of the parts leading up to the identity of the killer. It was not as interesting as the story line between Charlotte and Michael. Which I did have a tiny issue with their relationship. I felt that Charlotte was not at her strongest potential due to Michael. She was controlled by him and her love for him. Plus, she knew she loved him but she would go back and forth with her love for him. Although, I found the story not as strong as to my liking there was enough good things about this book that makes me want to go back and check out the prior novels in this series.

      I was pleasantly surprised to see this was was a continuation of a story I had read earlier. I didn't realize it was going to be a series. I like the ghost aspect of it. I think most people wouldfind this enjoyable. Especially if you like hunky ghosts in your stories.

      This novel is like a bad joke: Did you hear the one about the female psychologist who hunts serial killers who must choose between the hunky FBI agent she works with and the Adonis-like ghost of a convicted serial killer who follows her around? Ugh. I received this book through the Early Reviewers program and did not see any mention of a ghost in the description. The book seems to try to walk a line between a serial killer thriller and a steamy romance novel, with a bit of supernatural thrown in. To me, it was just kind of a hot mess, and if not for feeling an obligation to review it (and to use it at an upcoming book club meeting), I don't think I would have continued reading it.

      I received a copy of this book courtesy of LT Early Reviewers. Having read the first two installments (which I recommend doing prior to sitting down with this one) I was up to speed on the back story. As the book opens, Charlotte has returned to her study of serial killers on death row, still a bit shaken from her own brush with visiting the other side. The action kicks of almost immediately with a dementor-esque encounter with a Hunter, a serial killer possession, and the reappearance of Charlotte's almost-sparks love-interest from the FBI. The team's on a manhunt for a serial killer in Los Vegas, and this time it's personal. Charlotte's not super thrilled about participating, but Michael's fading and getting his help means calling in a psychic friend who can meet her in Vegas before the rapidly shrinking deadline expires along with Michael.... and that's the first few pages in a nutshell - it speeds up from there.Robards apparently plans to continue the series on to at least one more book, as this one ends in a cliffhanger. A few minor irritations aside (as in the first two books, Charlotte must appear to be continually talking to thin air, and yet no one ever seems to notice), this was a good, fast, occasionally creepy read.

      Having read the first book put me in a better position to read this one. A serial killer profiler and a convicted serial killer are attached after the profiler tried to save the serial killers life. Going from there - the gorgeous hunk of a serial killer and her are in "love" or "lust".? The interaction between the two is electric and quite funny at times. Between the earth plain and the dark place the book bounces back and forth. She is back in the midst of a series of killings in Las Vegas and with the help of her "serial killer" and the good looking FBI agent they solve the case, but everyone is hurt one way or the other.

      I loved this book. Thank you for sending it to me. Ms. Robards is a talented writer and this book was an excellent addition to her book list. It was a page turner from start to finish. I had difficulty putting it down.

      Ah..............no. REad maybe a quarter through the book and found it annoying, redundant and something an adolescent might enjoy. I was surprised as I've read works by Ms. Robards before and enjoyed her work. Too much else to read, too little time.

      Different strokes for different folks. This one was not for me. The whole paranormal thing seems way beyond possible. Ghosts Charlie can see, fighting with ghosts she can't see, Michal thrown to the ground, but slides through chairs without moving them? Why didn't he simply go through the floor?I guess I am just too logical to get this one. My first, and last Karen Robards book.

      I was very disappointed - I am not for falling in love with ghostsThere were too many questions I had that were left unanswered. For instance, was Michael really a serial killer? How did Charlie gain access to the spirit world?I did finish the book hoping to get answers that never came. Too unrealistic for me Sorry

      I received this book from LibraryThing's Early Reviewer and I really enjoyed it. I have never read any of the other Dr. Charlotte Stone books but I will keep and eye open for them now. The plot contains a ghost and murder and a very unexpected ending. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery.

      Just couldn't finish it. I don't know if maybe it's just not my type of book or what. Usually I enjoy romantic suspense books but I found Michael(the ghost) popping in and out of the room and conversations with Dr. Charlotte Stone just to distracting, then after the other "voices" were added and the possessions I was totally done for. Sorry, just to far out for me. Probably would be a great book for someone who was more into the supernatural, paranormal type books.This is the first book by Karen Robards I've ever read and it will definitely be the last. I enjoy trying new authors and have many wonderful books/authors by doing so, this just isn't it for me.

      This is the third book in the Dr. Charlotte Stone series, and I have to say that the initial surprise at what a unique series this is, has yet to wear off. Combining equal parts of paranormal, mystery, thriller, humor, romance and passion, the Dr. Charlotte Stone is one of the most well rounded series, I have ever read! Moreover, Her Last Whisper is sure to keep you constantly entertained with its two mysteries and two love stories.Although it is possible to read this book as a standalone, as the immediate mystery, the identification and tracking down of the "Cinderella" serial killer is resolved, I would recommend that you read it in order. Not only does the love life of the heroine evolve over the series, but there is also an underlying mystery over whether Michael Garland, a convicted serial killer and now Dr. Charlotte Stone's ghost lover, actually committed the horrendous crimes he was convicted of which also is slowly solved over the entire series. Her Last Whisper ends in one big cliffhanger, so there will definitely be at least one other book. As of the time of this review, however, I could not find any information on when it is expected to be released, so now I'm sitting on pins and needles! This series is that good!Dr. Charlotte Stone, once targeted by the depraved "Boardwalk" serial killer who killed Charlie's best friend and her family, is no longer a victim. Instead, she became a psychiatrist who researches serial killers and now she is the hunter who hunts down these madmen.       This is the second Dr. Charlotte Stone book that I have read. I liked it much better than the first one. While the premise is somewhat silly. Prison psychologist falls in love with a (possible) serial killer's ghost, this time out I liked Michael (the ghost). The story had quite a few twists and turns. Overall an enjoyable read.

      Ok, I read this entire book in two sittings, couldn't put it down but had to to sleep. LOL If you haven't read the other books in the Charlotte Stone series, I highly recommend that you do that first, in order to have a better understanding of what's going on, by the time you get to this book.In this 3rd installment of Robards's Charlotte Stone series, the author redeems herself after a disappointing book two. "Her Last Whisper" was a fantastic read - gripped me from the start and never let go. The heat between Charlotte and the ghost of Michael Garland is satisfyingly expounded upon throughout this book, the serial killer mystery is interesting, and what a doozy of a cliffhanger, guaranteed to have every reader saying, "WTF?" and clamoring for the next in the series.In this book FBI agent Lena Kaminsky's sister Giselle is purportedly kidnapped by a serial killer. As the team (Lena, Buzz, and Tony - Charlotte's would-be earthly love interest) investigates, Charlotte learns more about who Michael was when he was alive and finds herself dangerously close to admitting deep feelings for the man/incorporeal being she can't have.This was a great paranormal romantic thriller, the perfect balance of all three genres rolled up into one edge-of-your seat story.

This time around Dr. Stone goes all out in order to track down FBI agent Lena Kaminsky's sister before she becomes the victim of the Cinderella Killer in Las Vegas. If chasing after a serial killer isn't bad enough, she must also do what she can to try and protect Michael from the otherworldly realm. Can Dr. Stone track down the killer in this realm while protecting Michael from another without losing her mind?Her Last Whisper is the third book in the Charlotte Stone series by Ms. Robards and each book takes a step deeper into the paranormal as Charlie learns to handle her ghostly love interest, Michael Garland. I've got to say that I initially questioned the sanity of a psychologist that was willing to fall head-over-heels in love with not only a ghost, but a ghost that was convicted murdered. Although Michael is no angel, he isn't quite the bad guy that he was made out to be. Each book in this series reveals slightly more of Michael's backstory, and this book was no different. Charlie learns that Michael was not only in the military, but in an elite military group. Yes Michael has killed, but his killings were dictated by the military and can't be equated to willful murder. Initially Charlie wanted nothing more than for Michael to disappear, but now she's willing to do whatever it takes to keep him around.While Charlie ponders her willingness to hang onto Michael for as long as possible, she works with her FBI friends to track down a serial killer. To say there's no love lost between Charlie and Lena Kaminsky is putting it lightly, but Charlie bears no ill will toward Lena and is ready to do what she can to find the killer before Lena's sister is next victim. There are a lot of high emotions running throughout Her Last Whisper. Lena is worried about her sister and doesn't want the investigation halted even for sleep. Lena's love interest, another FBI agent - Buzz Crane, also happens to be her sister's ex. Then there's Toni Bartoli, the lead FBI agent that has a thing for Charlie while Charlie pines for a dead man. Three FBI agents, one criminal psychologist, and one ghost combine their efforts to find a mad man before it's too late. Her Last Whisper has a lot of suspense, an ongoing sense of mystery (especially related to Michael and his backstory), and a whole lot of sexual tension (between Charlie and Michael, Michael and Charlie, and Toni and Charlie). If you've read any of the previous books in the Charlotte Stone series: The Last Victim and The Last Kiss Goodbye, then you'll definitely want to read Her Last Whisper. If you haven't read any of the books in this series but you enjoy romantic suspense thrillers, then you'll want to add all of these books to your TBR list.

      This is a First read of Karen Robards and I must say I would definitely read her again! In her Last Whisper Dr Charlotte Stone (Charlie) is called upon to help in finding a serial killer who has abducted the sister of, a FBI friend's colleague. Charlie is a little less then emphatic to go out and find another killer after helping FBI Toni Bartoli previously and almost drowning which had since brought about extra sensory skills that allows spirits to be heard on top of her already ability to communicate with spirits of the recently violently dead of which she tries to hide because it would denounce her professional standing as an expert of psychology of serial killers. Now don't forget to add in the Hot delectable Michael Garland who is a Ghost who recently has come into Charlie's life recently who was a convicted serial killer but wasn't guilty of that according to what charlie thought. Me personally I don't think Michael was guilty either at least not for the serial killer deaths. I figured early on that logically the only way his DNA was at all the crime scenes and he wasn't is that he must be an identical twin and the Gods that be can't tell the difference and so therefore that might be why his ghost kept getting kicked into Spookville? It was mentioned that he was adopted, so my theory is that he was one of two identical twins and he got caught for his twins crimes, BTW at the end Charlie seen an almost identical guy at his grave other then he had different colored eyes and a scar at his mouth that told him apart.Ready to go back and read the first two!

      I was deeply disapointed in this book. I have read other novels by Karen Robards and loved them. This was a different style of writing then the other books I read. I was a little lost starting out because this book was second in a series and i had not read the first book. So that may have been some of the problem but I just could not get into the story. It was so predictable and boring. I read on this book for WEEKS trying to finish it. I usually read books in a few days!

      This was a decent book. I enjoyed it, but it was a little on the hokey side. The ending was good. I was never really into the book, it was just an unbelievable story, that lacked that deep connection for me. I probably would not recommend the book, except for maybe for a beach read.
