Di Taylor
Di won her school's 'Victor Ludorum' for Sport in 1958 when she also started climbing. Since then (as well as running a small-holding with a full complement of livestock including the family cow) she has climbed in the UK, Alps, Dolomites, Norway , Spain and Madagascar as well as making first ascents in England and most areas of the Middle East and North Africa. Additionally, she has been on caving, canoeing and rafting trips and trekked in the Himalayas, southern India, Nagaland (north east India) Madagascar and Thailand. Following some years in design at Troll climbing equipment, Di is now in partnership with Tony Howard in n.o.m.a.d.s. (see Tony Howard). They discovered and developed the climbing and trekking potential of Wadi Rum in Jordan, their activities being the subject of a BBC film. Other projects include carving nesting sites into overhanging sea cliffs for the critically endangered Moroccan Bald Ibis and developing adventure travel in Jordan, Egypt, Oman, Libya, Madagascar and India. Di won 2nd prize for Mountain Action photography at Kendal Film Festival and is joint author with Tony Howard of 'Jordan - Walks, Treks, Caves, Climbs & Canyons' and 'Walks in Palestine & The Nativity Trail'. Her photos will be found in other n.o.m.a.d.s. guides, the outdoor press, various travel guides etc. She is frequently away on trips to mountain areas but likes nothing better than to be in the mountains and deserts of Jordan and Palestine with their many friends.
