About this audiobook

When a potentially career-ending shoulder injury left quarterback Drew Brees without a team-and facing the daunting task of having to learn to throw a football all over again-coaches around the NFL wondered, Will he ever come back? After Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, leaving more than 80 percent of the city underwater, many wondered, Will the city ever come back? And with their stadium transformed into a makeshift refugee camp, forcing the Saints to play their entire 2005 season on the road, people questioned, Will the Saints ever come back? It takes a special person to turn adversity into success and despair into hope-yet that is exactly what Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees has done-and with the weight of an entire city on his shoulders. Coming Back Stronger is the ultimate comeback story, not only of one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks, but also of a city and a team that many had all but given up on. Brees’s inspiring message of hope and encouragement proves that with enough faith, determination, and heart, you can overcome any obstacle life throws your way and not only come back, but come back stronger.

A little too Polly Anna when looking at his short comings. He could analyze everyone else right down to his wife’s inability to spell but most of his short comings were qualified. I just about quit when he talked about fights/disagreements with his wife. The underlying message was there he just couldn’t fully talk about himself in any real way. Also I feel like the audio didn’t do him any favors with that motivational Sunday school speaker. More I type the more I am thinking two stars but will keep it at 3 because to do respect the story.

A very interesting book - a little preachy at times but well written and interesting story.

I really enjoyed this book. I am a die hard Saints fan, so that is originally why i read it. I think this is a great book for someone to read who is feeling down or feeling discouraged. It describes the journey that Drew Brees went through after injuring himself and not being sure if he would ever play football again. It focuses on the comeback for not only Drew, as a player, but also a comeback for the city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. I would say this book would be for young adult readers.

This book is about how Drew Brees faced a lot of adversity while he was still starting out in the NFL and how he handeled his problems. He has faced many injuries and difficult decsions. Most of his problems that he had mentioned in the book, were about sports and the Chargers organization and also the injuries he's had.

Drew Brees really gives you an inside look at not only his life but how the city of New orleans Really did love their team. Although the book is not the most fluid and the best sports book out their, it provides a great look into an athletes life. It shows how God can truly get you through every task and is a great read for any sports fan!

This book is nothing to rave about; the writing is so-so, and there's a lot of talk about God and faith sprinkled with stories about football. As a Saints fan, I must admit that I skimmed through parts of the book to get to the "good" (i.e. football) stuff...as an LSU fan, I particularly enjoyed reading about Nick Saban's quest to get Drew to the Dolphins. The juxtaposition of Drew's recovery with New Orleans' own recovery is a great story in and of itself. I got chills reading recounts of some of the games, particularly from the 2009 season. I'm looking forward to reading Sean Payton's book and seeing how it compares to Drew's.Ultimately, this is a feel-good story that you can give to your grandma and know that she'll eat it up.

How could I have forgotten? It has only been five months. Only five months since I cheered on the New Orleans Saints to their first Super Bowl victory. Only five short months since I learned the chant, “Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints.” Why was it I never got around to ordering a Saints jersey? How could I have forgotten about the cameras focusing on Drew Brees, quarterback for the Saints, as he lifted his little son high in the air as confetti painted a celebration in the darkness for a team, a city, and a man all of whom were making a comeback? They all may have been down, but they were not out. Coming Back Stronger is a great reminder of that night and of the struggles which all had faced to reach that special event and their ability to take adversity and find an opportunity to……….naturally, come back stronger. The reader can’t help but like this guy, he shares his memoir with an affable attitude, for the most part he appears to be a humble, family man who loves the game of football. Of course, much of his story gives some detail of the game but it is not excessive and it is always mixed with anecdotes regarding his family and teammates. He began his career as a San Diego Charger but in the wake of Hurricane Katrina he felt the call to accept an offer from the Saints and embraced the team and town equally, putting his celebrity to good use and assisted in rebuilding the Big Easy. Naturally, the is an inspirational book so at times, Brees refers to his Christian values and relates how his faith helped him meet adversity, for example, “It’s only when you move on your belief and exercise faith that real change can come. It’s only then that you’ll yield concrete results.” Again, he doesn’t hit you over the head with it but uses it to pump up his teammates and be a motivating and encouraging leader to his club. Definitely a feel good read.Perhaps I'll still get around to ordering that jersey.
