About this audiobook

Hooking up is only the beginning of the fun in this sexy and irresistible second installment of the thrilling New Adult series, Boomerang.

At Boomerang, one night can change everything…

Adam Blackwood has it all. At twenty-two, he’s fabulously wealthy, Ryan Gosling-hot and at the top of his game in the business world. His life is perfect, until a scandal from his past resurfaces and threatens to knock the tech wunderkind down and throw his company, Boomerang, a hook-up site for millennials, into chaos.

Alison Quick, the twenty-one-year-old daughter of a business tycoon—and the very ex-girlfriend of Boomerang’s former intern, Ethan—has a problem of her own. After nearly flunking out in her senior year of college, she has one chance to redeem herself to her father by proving that she deserves a place in his corporate empire. That means spearheading her father’s plan to sink big money into Adam’s company and launch it into the stratosphere—provided Adam has no skeletons in his closet.

When the two meet, their sizzling chemistry makes it tough to keep things strictly professional. But when Alison discovers Adam’s secret, she knows she should bring it right to her father, who’ll leverage it for his own gain and use it to ruin Adam. The only problem: she’s falling for Adam—hard.

Will earning her father’s approval come at the price of losing her first real love? Or can Adam and Alison leave behind past mistakes and conquer the world—together?

I had no idea what to expect when I opened the cover of Rebound. It took about 10 pages for me to get used to the format -- this book is written in verse, in technical terms "a metrical line in a poetic composition", in other words, it's poetry. In addition, it weaves in a sort of comic strip/graphic novel element as the main character, Charlie Bell, imagines himself as a star basketball player. And it is an absolute pleasure to read.

This is the story of how Charlie Bell gets into trouble and goes to live with his grandparents after the death of his father. Reeling from the loss of his beloved dad, Charlie learns how to be a good friend, a good son and a good person. He doesn't always see eye-to-eye with his stern grandfather or his talented cousin, but he cherishes his time with his family and his best (girl) friend CJ. He learns to see that sometimes friends can be wrong, can do the wrong thing and that surrounding yourself with good people and good influences isn't just a good idea, it's your responsibility.

Rebound is a coming-of-age novel that is so well written, so keenly observed, so complex and yet simple at the same time, it is an absolutely absorbing and beautiful book to read.

A wonderful prequel to the award winning young adult novel, The Crossover. Written entirely in verse, Rebound follows Chuck Bell, the summer after his father's unexpected death when he is sent to stay with his grandparents. Angry and disinterested in everything except comics he is resigned to hate the whole summer but he soon discovers that he loves hanging with his father's family and to his surprise he's actually really good at basketball, a sport he always kind of avoided. The summer is filled with the Harlem Globetrotters, The Boys and Girls Club, comics, lawn mowing, and family. Chuck Bell has no idea how impactful this summer will be on the rest of his life. A slam dunk.

[b:Rebound|20705729|Rebound (Boomerang, #2)|Noelle August|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1420789464s/20705729.jpg|40025594]This is the laugh-out-loud adult funny awkward story of online dating company owner Adam Blackwood and investor representative Alison Quick who struggle to keep their minds on business while they fight to control their intense physical attraction to one another. Adam needs the twenty-million-dollar investment of cash from Quick Enterprises to launch a business venture, so sleeping with the daughter of the investor would be a career disaster. Alison wants to impress her father with her business acumen, so she is sent to dig up everything she can on Adam and his company.

Can wealthy millennials balance business and pleasure without failing at one or the other? And when does due diligence become unduly personal?

This story can stand alone, though it has overlapping characters from Noelle August's first book titled BOOMERANG. Don't read these books in public places AND try to suppress your laughter, or you're likely to snort coffee from your nose. Just saying, been there, done that. Not pretty.

The authors have done it again! Another sweet, fun, sexy, yet meaningful relationship that blossoms into something that was hard to imagine...In REBOUND, we get to see Adam's side of the world - the owner of Boomerang, a young millionaire who is very private about his personal life. The same person who has no problem probing in other peoples lives, and yet, manages to stay disconnected to the world. It's just work for him... or is it?... Adam has his reasons to be so guarded. Not only is it hard to trust people to like him for he truly is, or is it because he has money? Also, he hides a secret that no one can fully understand. One so sad and devastating - it is hard to imagine Adam ever letting go and possibly try to move on to a better and happier future. So when Adam dressed as Zorro meets Catwoman during Mia's halloween costume party, he only has one thing on his mind - how to get Catwoman out of her skintight suit! Luckily for both of them, Catwoman was literally sewn into her costume which made it a bit hard to go to far... why were they lucky? Because Catwoman is Allison aka the daughter of the man that Adam is hoping to impress and will partner with to expand his multi-million dollar business. And to add some icing to the cake, Allison is also Ethan's ex-girlfriend.Allison has baggage of her own. She is still reeling over her break-up with Ethan, almost failing out of school and disappointing her father. This is her chance to make things up to everyone. Even if it means sacrificing some of her own happiness. But as things start to unfold between Adam and Allison, there is no denying that these two were meant to be together. But at what price are they willing to pay to get there?I have to admit, I had a hard time seeing these two get together. I was excited that the book was going to be about Adam. But Allison was portrayed so poorly in book one, it was hard to give her the benefit of the doubt in order to let her redeem herself and tell me her story.Halfway through the story, I was finally coming to terms with their relationship. But still felt a strain between the two. Their stories are deeper and a little darker, and I felt like the chemistry between the two got a little lost in the moment. Their connection didn't feel loving but more like trying to save each other. I would have liked to have had the story been more detail and longer to build up the foundation between them rather than the rush of forgiveness and understanding that occurs.Overall, it was really interesting to see the level of their commitment to one another. Also, just like the first book, Adam and Allison's story centered around family as well. And I really love that the authors make it such a priority for the reader to get to know the characters from all the aspects in their lives. And yes, this can be read as a standalone! But why would you want too!Great series! I cannot wait to find out who the next couple will be... *An eARC was approved for me to review by the publisher for the blog tour and an honest review. I read half as an eARC, and then finished the rest in its finished formed by purchasing the eBook when it was released. All thoughts are my own.

I read it and I liked it, particularly for the humor. That actually shined for me more than the romance did. Since I’m always up or another romance, or almost always anyway, I couldn’t resist requesting Rebound, despite some hesitation about this match. Rebound turned out to be another good read, and, in my opinion, better than Boomerang on some levels. Most of all, I love the fact that Alison was picked for the heroine role in Rebound. She’s about as close as Boomerang came to a villain. She’s Ethan’s ex, and she cheated on him. As you guys know, I’m not a fan of infidelity as a plot line, but I love something like this that looks at how Alison recovers from her mistake. Alison gets to go from the ice queen love rival to the heroine. Though I don’t think her character ever quite coalesced for me, I do like seeing her softer side and her side of the story. Her connection with her horses is probably my favorite thing about Alison. There’s also very little jealousy in Rebound. That was most definitely a thing in Boomerang, and it did make sense. I like that they’re past that now. Alison doesn’t precisely dislike Mia, but Mia makes her very uncomfortable, because it IS awkward. The fact that they become…not friends but friendly is awesome. Similarly, it’s great that Adam doesn’t become monstrously jealous of Ethan when he learns about his past relationship with Alison. The narrative voices also have improved slightly from Boomerang. I cold almost never distinguish between Ethan and Mia’s voices, but I lost track of which character’s chapter I was in much less often in Rebound, though it definitely still happened. That said, I don’t think either of their voices had the vibrancy of Ethan and Mia’s voices. The romance is…eh? I mean, I shipped it, I guess, but I wasn’t hugely invested. The time frame felt so rushed, though it probably was a longer period of time than I expect. They were just so sappy about each other in their heads so quickly. Adam goes from playboy to completely smitten in 0.2 seconds. They banter a little bit, but not enough to get the engines on my ship started. Also, a warning for those of you who like your romances full of sex: this one is not, and you’ll wait quite a while for it.Where I feel Rebound falls short is the plotting. Yes, it’s predictable, which is a good thing in a romance novel. I did call the twist with Adam’s big secret, but even then I’m not sure how much you’re really supposed to be surprised. What bothered me was that the book is just too damn short. I feel like Adam and Alison get a lot less time to work through their issues than Mia and Ethan did, even though Boomerang was longer and those two had less baggage. The book’s plot hardly progresses for most of the book, and then wraps up all within the last chapter. It’s abrupt and unsatisfying. Aside from the larger plot about the potential merger, I wanted to know if Alison managed to rehabilitate the horses and how Philippe’s date went with Alison’s third boomerang date. For a while it looked like Rebound would surpass Boomerang, but ultimately I felt like the spark was missing, the humor replaced with more sentiment and seriousness. I’m on board for more of these, though. A book about Grey, for example, could be really fun. Or maybe Cookie?

I could not stop laughing with the first book, Boomerang. I was so excited to read the next book. Ok, so while I still like this series, I did feel a little let down with the second book. It took more of a serious side then a light, funny side. Not that I did not care for the serious side. Just looking for a few more laughs. Alison was cool. I had no problems with her. The reason I say this is because I read another readers comment about this. She said that her other friends commented on Alison and how they did not like her or care for her from the first book. To be honest, if it was not for this comment I could not have really given it much thought. I did find that Alison was more grown up. Ethan did not make much of an appearance in this book. Yet, I did dig Adam. He was a sweetheart and sexy as hell. The more I got to know of him, the more I fell for him. Than when I learned about his secret, I was hooked. A very quick read. I do look forward to reading the next one.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: Fun, sexy new adult contemporary romance novel that was very entertaining to read!Opening Sentence: Some nights call for a Catwoman costume. The Review:Adam Blackwood is on top of the world. At the age of twenty-two he is CEO of Boomerang, a very successful dating site, and he is planning on expanding into the entertainment industry by opening his own production company. To do this he will have to get some investors and he has his sights set on business tycoon, Graham Quick. He figures that with his impressive resume and very successful business he will easily close the deal, but he never expected Quick to play dirty. Adam doesn’t have a perfect past and if certain things about him are released to the press it could ruin his entire career. Adam also never expected that after all this time the only women he has met since his last tragic relationship would be Alison Quick.Alison is on a mission to prove herself to everyone, especially her father. She just recently graduated from college and she has her first big assignment to figure out if Adam Blackwood is worth investing millions of dollars of her father’s money. She is suppose to see if there is any kind of dirt on golden boy before they decide to invest, but the more she gets to know Adam the more she realizes he isn’t at all who she thought he was. The more time they spend together the more she feels drawn to him and his mysterious past. Will she blow her one chance at pleasing her father or will she throw away the only boy she has ever truly loved? When I first met Alison in Boomerang I felt like she was a very misunderstood girl and I actually felt really bad for her. I was really excited that she was the protagonist for Rebound and couldn’t wait to get to know her better. I will admit that at times she was a slightly frustrating character because she was really naive about certain things and she let other people take advantage of her. But at the same time she is a very smart girl that can be extremely resourceful when she wants to be. In many ways she has felt lost in her life, but once she figures out what she actually wants she stops at nothing to get it. While she has made some terrible decisions in her past that have really hurt people she cared about, she generally is a really nice girl that will do anything for the people she loves. In many ways she is a walking contradiction, but I actually really liked that about her. Even with her flaws I thought she was a wonderful character and I’m so glad we got to read her story.Adam turned out to be so different then what I was expecting. In Boomerang he came across as a slightly socially awkward person that has been ridiculously successful for how young he is, but it turns out that he’s not awkward at all. He is very comfortable in his own skin and the only reason he seemed off in social situations is because he doesn’t like to let people get close to him. He has a tragic past that has turned him into a person that has a hard time connecting with people. He has put up all these walls to protect his heart so he will never be hurt again, and it really broke my heart. He has put all his energy and drive into being successful in business, but his personal life is really lacking. The more I read about Adam the more I loved him. I have always been a sucker for a broken boy that needs the right girl to heal him.The best thing about Rebound was the romance. My moment between Adam and Alison is actually when they first met. They both attend a costume party together and because they both are wearing a mask, neither of them knows who the other person is. This makes it so they can both be way more open and vulnerable than either of them are normally. They have this amazing instant connection that continued to grow throughout the story. Their relationship is full of great tension and plenty of steamy moments, but it never felted rushed or unrealistic. I thought that everything developed perfectly and thought that they made a wonderful couple.Rebound is a fun story full of humor, sexy romance, and emotions. I have come to realize that my favorite new adult series are full of companion novels versus a continuation of one couples story. I really enjoy seeing old characters but it is very refreshing to be in new characters heads. I thought that the mix of drama and tender moments was really well done in this story. It was a very entertaining read that also pulls at your heart strings. Overall, I really enjoyed Rebound and can’t wait to read the Bounce! I would highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a great, steamy, fun contemporary romance!Notable Scene:We kiss and kiss, and I melt against him. We’re slippery—leather against satin—and it’s so maddening. I want to feel his skin, all of its roughness and sleek, muscled planes. He breaks away, as if surprised by something. Like something’s switched on inside him. He ease me back a bit to look at me, but it’s like he’s actually come closer.“What do you know about mistakes?” Zorro asks.I’m surprised he’d bring it up again, but I answer. “Too much,” I say.FTC Advisory: William Morrow/Harper Collins provided me with a copy of Rebound. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.
