      This is my third or fourth time reading Belinda. I first read it when I was about 14 -when I was younger than Belinda herself! - and then again in college, and it's always been a guilty pleasure. Enjoyable, gripping and even pseudo-intellectual.

      That said, reading a love story between a 16 yr old and 44 yr old as a 27 year old feels very different. I'm definitely a little more skeptical and leery about the whole thing now.

      But I still can't put it down!

      Yes, this book has an unbelievable storyline (attractive author begins a sexual relationship with a troubled teenage girl).Yes, it has a very dramatic ending.Yes, there are erotic elements (although pretty tame for Anne Rice).But I couldn't stop reading it. I guess every once in a while you just need a trashy (although still well-written) read. I'm not ashamed of liking it, and you shouldn't be either!

      What starts promising as the journey into the sick relationship of a pedophile artist for his muse Belinda, ends up miserably in a terrifingly boring story, closer to soap operas and tv-series script than a work on literature. Even the attempt of creating a blackmailing stall, a situation in which everyone is dependable on everyone is simply silly. This book will burn at Fahrenheit 451.

      Captivating, not as erotic as I had expected. Is that due to the fact that we have so much thrust in front of us at this day and time with television and the internet? Charming story of love, full of mystery and deception. Simply stated - loved it.

      This is the story of a middle aged children's books writer, illustrator and a painter who after years of doing the same old children's books fall in love with a runaway teenaged girl and creates a whole set of nude paintings. The novel rings with all the stereotypes such as the forbidden love, precocious girl, her movie star self centered mother, her movie producer lecherous step father.The book is slow and the climax is long drawn out. It's a 3 star read.

      I would say that Belinda was a modern-day Lolita, if I were pretentious enough to allege that I had read Lolita, which I have not. However, reading this made me wish that I had so that I could make the comparison in an educated manner. What I can say is that Rice begins describing a 44 year old man's relationship with a 16 year old girl from the man's perspective in such a way that it almost gives you the creeps, making you feel guilty and dirty just for reading about it, then as she fleshes out the characters, especially Belinda herself, you end up rooting for these two to work it out and be together forever. That's quite a feat. And, from what I've read about Lolita, this has a much more pleasant conclusion. Fans of Rice writing as Roquelaure will find this rather sedate, but fans of Rice writing as Rice will recognize the style and appreciate the amped up sensuality and artistry of the text. Fans of Rice, whichever nom de plume she chooses, like me, will just be entranced.

      I loved this book, read in three days altough everything i had read bout this book said there was SM in it there was not. The whole story line was great ... if you have an open mind for other lifestyles. This book tells the taboo love story of Jermery Walker , a forty something writer/painter and Belinda a 16yr runaway with a hidden past ( not going to spoil it )

      This book may at first glance look like standard genre fiction filling the shelves of airports and supermarkets: A fat tome with a catchy and provocative cover written by a pseudonymous author. With that, this book could easily be classified as genre fiction and it is, in a sense. It is a mystery novel, for as soon as Jeremy Walker lays eyes on the tempting and enigmatic Belinda, he is driven to find out who she is. Even after he knows her name and has her staying at his house, he has a desperate desire to uncover her identity. This is what drives the plot of the book. The story is also erotic. Belinda becomes Jeremy's physical and artistic obsession, and Rice illustrates this with feverish and sensual prose. However, it is unfair to simply dismiss Belinda as a genre work as many might do after the simple act of seeing the name of Anne Rice on the cover, an author indelibly linked to the vampire genre. For all the sensuality, eroticism, and mystery formula present in Belinda, the themes it tackles are quite literary. The relationship between artist and muse, the power of love, and ultimately the power and ability of art to transform people and transcend obstacles. A commendable novel from Rice that is every bit as good as her vampire tales and could probably appeal to a much wider audience if they gave it the chance. A film version would be phenomenal if done well.

      Not as daring in the sexual escapades department as Exit to Eden, this book, written by Anne Rice under a pseudonym, explores the forbidden sexual relationship between child (teenager really) and adult. Rice's signature romantic writing style makes this an intriguing read. Appropriate for college aged and beyond.

      I love this book and I've read it several times. However, this Abridged audio version does the book no favors. Because it is abridged their relationship comes on too fast. key elements and feelings are missing. he's telling her he loves her and she's moving in five minutes into this version. it's annoying because it doesn't say that it's an Abridged version anywhere. do yourself a favor and read the full version.

      This is Anne Rice's '50 shades of Grey" and she blows that piece of garbage out of the water. This book is erotic to its very core without being totally smutty. Well written and full of sex appeal.
