About this audiobook
In this wrenching sequel to Divided We Fall, Danny and friends fight to defend Idaho against a federal takeover and the ravages of a Burning Nation. At the end of Divided We Fall, Danny Wright's beloved Idaho had been invaded by the federal government, their electricity shut off, their rights suspended.
Danny goes into hiding with his friends in order to remain free. But after the state declares itself a Republic, Idaho rises to fight in a second American civil war, and Danny is right in the center of the action, running guerrilla missions with his fellow soldiers to break the federal occupation. Yet what at first seems like a straightforward battle against governmental repression quickly grows more complicated, as more states secede, more people die, and Danny discovers the true nature of some of his new allies.
Chilling, powerful, and all too plausible, Burning Nation confirms Trent Reedy's place as a provocative new voice in YA fiction.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Burning Nation is book two of the Divided We Fall series by Trent Reedy. This book picks up where book one left off and Danny and the rest of the gang have to survive when the United States decides to attack and occupy Idaho for their rebellion. The action is fast and strong as Danny, JoBell, Becca, Cal, and Sweeney have to fight the Feds to survive. There are many close scrapes as some of the original Nation Guard join up with them to raise chaos for the Fed troops. Major Alsovar becomes Danny's main target when he kills his business partner (Schmidty) when the group was hiding in the secret basement of the auto shop. Alsovar also tortures Danny after he's captured. Danny is freed with help from another rebel group, The Brotherhood. Together, the Brotherhood and others band together to push the United States forces out of Idaho. Idaho is victorious, but is the war over? Looking forward to reading book three to get to the conclusion of this trilogy.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was well written with good characters and an interesting plot. There were lots of twists and turns. I especially liked the narration and the bits of news reports embedded in the story. The main characters being high school students defending their town against an occupation reminded me of the old movie RED DAWN which I loved. I did not love the end, but that was one of the only things I did not like about the story. I liked this second book more than the first one in the series. I am about to start the third.
