About this audiobook
I'm the daughter of murdered parents.
I'm the friend of a dead girl.
I'm the lover of my enemy.
And I will have my revenge.
In the wake of the devastating destruction of the luxury yacht Persephone, just three souls remain to tell its story-and two of them are lying. Only Frances Mace knows the terrifying truth, and she'll stop at nothing to avenge the murders of everyone she held dear. Even if it means taking down the boy she loves and possibly losing herself in the process.
Sharp and incisive, Daughter of Deep Silence by bestselling author Carrie Ryan is a deliciously smart revenge thriller that examines perceptions of identity, love, and the lengths to which one girl is willing to go when she thinks she has nothing to lose.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I chose to read this book because of the blurb and front cover, and it was great. While the premise was a bit far-fetched the author managed to write an exciting, revenge thriller. The pace was fast, the plot intriguing and the tension nail-biting. Libby/Frances was a refreshing character - cold, calculating, intelligent and determined to avenge the death of her parents and friend. This made her likeable and unlikable at the same time. Although I found the epilogue rather disappointing, "Daughter of Deep Silence" was a book that, once started, was difficult to put down
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really enjoyed this book. It's a great murder mystery for young adults. If I had a day where I could read, I probably would have read this in a day because I had a hard time putting it down. Francis and Libby, who are 14, met on a cruise ship. Francis is there with her parents and Libby is there with her Mom. The cruise ship is attacked and everyone is killed except for them and Senator Wells and his son Greyson, who Francis has fallen in love with. But the Senator says a big wave took the ship down. Fearing for her life, Francis goes into hiding as she plots her revenge for the murder of her parents.
This was very well written and pulled the reader into the story. I won this book through Goodreads. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5this was not as suspenseful as I wanted it to be. It needed some little inklings along the way about what the conspiracy was instead of saving it for the end. while I enjoyed the character growth that came from Francis' internal dilemma about her plot for revenge, it dragged on at times. I also wasn't a fan of the romance though it doesn't play a huge part.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Frances Mace is on a cruise with her parents. The ship is attacked and all on board are killed except her, Libby (her friend), Senator Wells, and the senator's son Grey. After drifting in a life raft for 7 or 8 days, Frances is rescued by Libby's father. Unfortunately, Libby died the day before. After recuperating on his yacht, Frances learns that the official news story is that the Persephone (cruise ship) was hit by a rogue wave. The only survivors were the senator and his son. Frances knows this is untrue. She and Libby's father create a plan to protect her. She is going to assume Libby's identity and go to Europe to escape the tragedy and recover. She is going to pretend to have amnesia and is not able to remember the sinking. After 4 years "Libby" returns and sets her plot for revenge into motion. Lots of action and twists.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a page-turner, it had me hooked from the start. Frances is such a strong protagonist who is hell-bent on vengeance and finding out the truth. The author effectively weaves an interesting story, with twists and turns that will keep you engrossed until the end. I encourage you to read it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Not what I was expecting. But I was hooked. It's good stuff.

By Carrie Ryan
What an amazing book! I’ve never read a Young Adult novel with love, mystery, and suspense. Well written and intelligent, the plot is riveting.
A peaceful family cruise vacation begins with friendship and new romance, but ends with murder and lies. Libby and Frances met on board the Persephone. Libby is the beautiful one who is full of life. Frances holds people at a distance, but begins to let in her new friend and Grey, the senator’s son. Spending the days sunbathing, reading, swimming, and laughing, the three are enjoying life when the nightmare begins. One beautiful night a rogue wave swallows the ship, and 357 passengers drown in the ocean’s depths. Only four survive that terrible night: Libby, Frances, Grey, and Senator Wells.
However, there was no wave. No one drowned. Armed men boarded the ship and shot everyone they found. The story of what happened that night was a lie. But why?
As Libby and Frances are pulled from the water, Senator Wells and Gray are on the news telling the story of a calm night and rogue wave. There’s no mention of guns, men, blocked exits, and screams. But why is the truth being hidden? Why?
I received a free ARC from Netgallery in exchange for an honest review. My review is based on an uncorrected text. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I got a copy of this book through the Amazon Vine program to review. This was a very engaging read that was hard to put down. It’s primarily a revenge story.Frances is on a cruise ship when it is attacked by armed men. Her and her best friend Libby escape but they are out at sea for so long awaiting rescue that Libby doesn’t make it. When Frances is rescued she finds out that the news says the cruise ship was attacked by a rogue wave...not armed men. To make matters worse a Senator and his son were supposedly the only survivors and are lying about the truth of what happened. Frances gets it in her head that if that Senator hadn’t lied, then the rescuers would have kept looking for survivors and Libby would have lived. Frances and Libby’s father then devise a scheme for Frances to assume Libby’s identity and take the revenge she is so desperate for. And that’s just the beginning of the story...This primarily a revenge story and the main driver in the story is the mystery behind what really happened the day the main character, Frances, escaped a cruise ship and was left to drift on the ocean. This was a very easy read and, as mentioned, very hard to put down. It wasn't really what I thought it was going to be but it was enjoyable all the same. Frances is an interesting character, she is just so absolutely driven by revenge that it consumes every aspect of her. I enjoyed watching her being pulled between her desire for revenge and her desire to be loved. This wasn't one of those books that was life changing...and I doubt I will think about it much in the future...however it was an entertaining little diversion. The story at the end feels a bit contrived...like maybe everything is just a bit too conveniently wrapped up. The very end is left somewhat open, which matched the tone of the rest of the story well.Overall this was a fun and quick little read. It’s a revenge story that has some interesting twists and turns and takes an interesting look into the head of a girl absolutely obsessed with revenge. I enjoyed it but didn’t find that it was a story that really stuck with me. It was a quick and entertaining diversion, that’s pretty much it. I guess I would recommend to young adult fans who enjoy revenge stories with some romance.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Solid thriller with a compelling voice and pretty satisfying resolution. I think I maybe liked the premise more than the execution, but it's a good choice for kids who want a page turner.
