About this audiobook

On August 6, 2011-three months after members of Navy SEAL Team Six killed Osama Bin Laden-Taliban forces took down a United States helicopter, call sign "Extortion 17." The attack killed the Air National Guard crew, seven unidentified members of the Afghan military, and seventeen members of Navy SEAL Team Six-warrior brothers from the same Team that had killed Osama Bin Laden just ninety days prior.

Were the seven Afghan soldiers aboard that helicopter really undercover Taliban who either maneuvered the chopper within easy range of being shot down or sabotaged it from within? Were the SEALs sacrificed on the altar of political correctness and deliberately flown into a known Taliban hot zone?

Don Brown, a former U.S. Navy JAG officer stationed at the Pentagon and a former special assistant United States attorney, re-creates the wartime action, tells the life stories of the elite warriors our nation lost on that day, and tears apart the official military explanation of the incident contained in the infamous Colt Report, which reveals either gross incompetence or a massive cover-up.

Who were the unidentified Afghans that were allowed to enter the helicopter? Why did one of the Seals who had participated in the Osama bin Laden raid have bullets in his body and why were those bullets discarded during the autopsy? Why were the families told that the bodies were unidentifiable and cremated, when several family members eventually saw photos of their bodies in good recognizable condition?

It repeats the same points a lot but the information is clear enough that you can listen to it at 1.5 times speed and get through the book faster if that’s your preference. There are many unanswered questions about the deaths of these servicemen. Much like Benghazi it is not clear that we will ever get to the bottom of this apparent government cover-up.

Great accounting the Facts…what political forces left the important facts out and there was no accoutability

Despite this work being rather dry at times in a textbook/ formal report kind of way, this is a story worth reading/listing to!
The pain. The mistakes. The anguish of the these brave warriors and their families are all here. The military and governmental coverup is discussed with all the facts the author could include.
It is a story that I wish did not have to be told but I am so glad it was.
I am angry at VP (now President) Joe Biden for his inability to not brag. If he had followed protocol and kept his mouth shut when he was supposed to maybe we would not have 30 more dead Americans and a coverup to deal with. This sometimes painful book is holding a huge spotlight into a very dark corner that the Obama administration does want any of to look at.
This is also a call to action for Congress and the American people to open an investigation into what actually happened to those brave men and why they are all dead
