About this audiobook

Sandra "Dee" Daniels is a vampire's worst nightmare. Sure, she couldn't get up to five-six in the highest heels money can buy-not that she ever wears heels. But the monsters in her past and the stake in her boot are enough to keep most bloodsuckers interested in staying undead out of Baton Rouge.

But there are changes afoot on her turf. Rumor has it a Born Master is in town-a vampire so powerful he can make the streets run with blood. And there's a new face in Dee's dive bars and alleyways-Simon Chase, a strong, sexy shadow with a haunted past of his own. Simon knows a lot about the dark side of Dee's work because Simon also knows a secret that will change Dee's life-if she can live long enough to uncover it.

I REALLY like Cynthia Eden's Night Watch series. This is book two in the series and it tells the story of Sandra "Dee" Daniels. Dee absolutely hates Vampires. She dedicates her life to Night Watch and destroying every Vampire she can. One night out she comes face to face with a Vampire and goes for the kill, but things go wrong and that is when she meets Simon. Simon helps Dee get out of the situation safely. She thanks him and just tries to brush Simon off. Only Simon is not easy to get rid of because he has a motive of his own. I like that through out the whole book you have no idea if Simon is the good guy or the bad. Cynthia did a great job adding mystery to him. She gives you just enough to love him, but not fully trust him. Which is exactly how Dee feels about Simon as well. I give this book 5 stars because I like every character in this series and everything flows nicely and works well together. There is just enough romance and action to keep you at the edge of your seat. This is definitely a fun and exciting series! A MUST READ!

A solid plot with some interesting twists and a decent romance. Despite their powerful chemistry, Simon and Dee's lack an emotional connection that would have made this a 4 star read.

Simon starts out as a somewhat morally questionable hero with an intriguing secret agenda. Unfortunately, he loses this ambiguity as his true motives are revealed and he becomes more of a sidekick than a leading man.

Dee is a strong, kick-ass heroine with a traumatic past and although she comes across as abrasive at times, this only makes her more endearing. Her character development throughout the story is compelling and her transformation is one of the most surprising and enjoyable aspects of the story.

The vampire mythology is well developed and fascinating, and the twists in the tale kept me turning the pages well into the night. All in all, not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

The beginning drew me into this story! I really liked Dee! The author's twist on vampires was unexpected! Saying that this book started out REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, GOOD… it had the right element of mystery, sex, romance.......... the pace was fantastic. We were jogging, jogging, jogging, then STOP.
And the book died. Talked about taking action. Then it crawled. crawled. And really lost me. Maybe another reading will for some clarity.

Went a little to slow for me. Too much verbal back and for in the characters minds about what they were or weren’t feeling.
