About this audiobook

No woman in her right mind would consent to wearing a corset for a month. Especially a "skinny-challenged" woman like Tessa. But dreams of being debt-free dance in her head at the offer of appearing in a reality TV show.
A Month in the Life of a Victorian Duke is about real people pretending to live on an English estate, circa 1879. And Tessa's leading man-a real-life duke-is so handsome she can barely breathe, with or without the corset . . .

Author

Katie MacAlister

Despite her love for novels, Katie MacAlister didn’t think of writing them until she was contracted to write a non-fiction book about software. MacAlister resolved to switch to fiction, where she could indulge in world building, tormenting characters, and falling madly in love with all her heroes. More than thirty books later, her novels have been translated into numerous languages, recorded as audiobooks, received several awards, and landed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. She also writes for the young adult audience as Katie Maxwell.

You know it’s bad when I only make it to 10%. I try to stick through books, try and give them a chance but I just could not with this one. It was awful. The main lead Tessa was beyond obnoxious for me. I get that she has body issues, I empathize with that. However have some self respect! She was so worried about being turned away for the part bc of her size (EVEN THOUGH THEY ALREADY KNEW HER SIZE) that she gets so drunk she throws up in front of everyone. And can she not go one freaking diary entry without lamenting her size. That brings me to the diary entries. I realize that’s the name of the book, I realize we would hear her perspective through the diary entries. What I did not realize was how obnoxious that would be.....Monday 10am in the parlor, Monday 10:19 am in the xxx room, Monday 10:40 in the stairwell. Holy crap lady are you seriously so anal that you have to Mark the time every single entry. 10% was enough for me to turn off the audio book and never look back.

In this book, Tessa is given the opportunity to take part in a reality TV show about a Victorian family. The family is there and she'll be stepping in to play the part of wife and mother. What she doesn't count on is falling in love with the Duke and with his family.

You either like Katie MacAlister's books or you don't. I do. I like her humor, her heroines, and the incredible supporting characters she comes up with. Her books are fun, light reads.

It took me forever to read this. It seemed like the author was going for smutty and chick lit at the same time. It was ok.

This was my third time reading this book and I enjoyed it every bit as much as I did the other times. The byplay between the two main characters is laugh out loud funny that had me actually snorting in places. Am very glad I pulled it back off the shelf.

I really wanted to like this because I love shows like Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs. I thought it would be a romance novel, but it was more of a slapstick comedy with a lot of silly love scenes thrown in just to fill space. And I got tired of the main character pretty quickly.

Tessa Riordan is an ordinary American woman. She is normal, sweet, funny, a size eighteen and an actress. Oh and she is also quiet insane. When offered the role of the duchess in A MONTH IN THE LIFE OF A VICTORIAN DUKE, a British reality television show, she says yes. She desperately needs the money. She soon discovers that the original actress dropped out after the costumes were made. She finds this out when she is laced into the historically accurate corset of the smaller woman. Amid promises to revamp her wardrobe and corset, she departs for the isolated location of the shoot. The wickedly funny MacAlister has Tessa record her hilarious experiences with a quirky cast of characters and her passionate encounters with Maximillian Edgerton, the sexy Englishman playing the Duke of Bridgewater, in a laughter-laced diary that is a saucy, delight.

I borrowed this one from the library, but I'd love to own a copy of it. Very funny, I enjoyed it. Katie Mac has never let me down.

Fun story but I would have preferred less "frisky" scenes. Way too much detail.

Funny, funny, funny, laugh out-loud funny. This author is an expert in romantic comedy. I love her writing, lots of sex, but funny stuff.
