About this audiobook
Sarah King is counting on that protective impulse-it's the only thing standing between her and certain death. There are only two problems: One, she's not quite as innocent as she'd like Lucas to believe. And two, if he doesn't stop stoking Sarah's animal lust, it's only a matter of time before her own wild side gets unleashed . . .Contains mature themes.

Lucas Simone is the powerful alpha of the Los Angeles werewolf pack, but someone views him as a threat and an obstacle to be removed. Sarah King has important information for Lucas and is in desperate need of his help and protection. Nevertheless, Sarah may have bitten off more than she can chew by choosing to side with a man whose beast is very close to the surface…
Series Note: Never Cry Wolf is the final book in Cynthia Eden’s Night Watch series and takes place in a different city and with different characters than books #1-3. Nevertheless, it is a continuation of the prequel Immortal Danger, which I recommend reading as there are numerous references to prior characters and events from that story. I did not read the prequel first and felt that it would have provided a more satisfying reading experience if I had.
Despite one or two intriguing twists, the plot is quite straightforward with Sarah arriving to warn Lucas of a foe from his past with plans on usurping him as Alpha. The action scenes are exciting and romance is intense and steamy.
Lucas is a typical alpha, protective and possessive, but his disturbing past gives him an extra edge in the hero department. Sarah is an appealing although her tendency toward keeping secrets puts a damper on things and there are times when Lucas’s calm acceptance of her lies is inconsistent with his reputation for dealing harshly with threats to the pack.
The secondary characters are very compelling, especially Piers and Caleb. Unfortunately, Eden seems to have taken a break from the series so their stories are on hold at least for now.
All in all, Eden certainly knows how to write a paranormal romance and I would definitely read more in the series if she wrote them. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another great paranormal by Cynthia Eden
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Sarah King is a little more than human, has a bounty on her head and needs protection. Protection she hopes will be provided by the big bad wolf. Lucas Simone is the big bad wolf. Alpha of the LA pack he’s had a rough life, but he’s a survivor and, more important to Sarah, he protects the weak. As a human in a supernatural world, she’s as weak as they get. Mystery, action and hot yummy sexiness abounds as Sarah fights for her life and Lucas fights to protect her.Cynthia Eden hits another home run in the Night Watch series. There’s lots of action, sneakiness, betrayal, loyalty, fighting, hot yumminess and steamy sex in 'Never Cry Wolf'. From the way things looked at the end there are at least two or three more Night Watch stories coming up. More would be nice. *hint, hint* Whether they might be books, novellas or parallel stories I’ll just have to wait and see. But I am watching. And waiting. I’m not known for waiting patiently. *fidgets* Is the next book out yet? *fidgets some more* How ‘bout now? *sigh*
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Cynthia Eden has a way of sucking you into her books and making you want to stay there. I’ve pretty much read every paranormal romance she has written and loved every single one of them. I was super excited when I was given the chance to read Never Cry Wolf. It was so good and I definitely recommend you read it. In Never Cry Wolf you meet Lucas, a werewolf in charge and not afraid of a good fight. He speaks his mind, goes for what he wants, and lets it be known that what’s his is his, especially when it came to Sarah King. The attraction between the two is instant and strong. Sarah comes to Lucas for protection and to give him a warning, and Lucas is more than happy to help and listen. As things begin to get a little intense between the two and a lot more dangerous, secrets are also revealed. And Sarah has a whole jar of secrets. Lucas doesn’t trust Sarah, but that doesn’t stop his attraction to her or the way he feels. Sarah has always had a thing for Lucas and knows pretty much everything there is to know about him. I really liked Lucas and Sarah as a couple. They had so much chemistry and even though they were both warned not to trust one another, you could tell they would die for each other. I even cried towards the middle/end with everything they go through.Never Cry Wolf is like every other book Cynthia Eden has written, but different in so many other ways at the same time. From the very beginning to the end it is non-stop. Eden delivers yet again another romantic action packed, suspenseful story. I don’t think there is a book by Cynthia Eden that I have read and given less than 5 or 4 Stars. I really enjoy reading her books and cannot wait to see what she will write next. I am obsessed with Paranormal Romance, and Cynthia Eden is on my top ten lists of great authors. If you haven’t picked up any of her books, I highly recommend you do. You will love every single one, including Never Cry Wolf. 5 out of 5 Stars!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I have never read a Cynthia Eden book before Never Cry Wolf, but now I can't wait to read them all. Never Cry Wolf is a catching read that will have you holding your breath from the first page to the last. A dangerous, adventurous story full of sex, betrayal, courage, mystery, and love. Cynthia has a great way of writing and without having read any of her books she didn't leave me confused with backstories, only intrigued to find out what all the different angles were. I can't wait to read Jordan and Camellia's story. Never Cry Wolf is an enthralling, fast paced read I would recommend to anyone who has a love of the paranormal/fantasy genre.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Recieved copy through Librarything Member giveaway. First of all I want to say I haven't read any of the other books in this series but I was able to pick this one up and not feel lost just curious. H/H were easy to fall in love with as well as the rest of Lucas's pack. I found myself wanting to know more about them all. The story is fast paced with lots of action and doesn't bog down (thank goodness as I have to many unfinished books on my shelf that I just couldn't get into) I look forward to picking up the earlier books and will be adding this series to my "Must Buy" for any new books coming out.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Received through LibraryThing Member Give Away. This is a fast paces read that starts and ends with action. It caught my attention quickly and held it. I occationally got frustrated that some secrets weren't reveiled quickly enough, but that is "foreshadowing anxiety" on my part. I could tell there were other stories linked to this one and I would like to read them as I think they would enhance the experience of this book, but they are in no way necessary. Sarah was well rounded to my mind. She needed protection, but she by no means ever came across as a helpless shrinking vilot. There were some loose ends dangling, but I'm sure they will be caught up in other stories. This one is going in my library.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I got this book thinking it might be cute fluff I could enjoy and then pass along. I confess I'm not much of a modern-romance sort of girl. Generally speaking, I need my romance novels to address why there is only straight monogamous sexuality and why no one is worried about STD issues or unplanned pregnancy. Either they have to be an alternate world with an explanation somewhere early on as to why it isn't an issue, or they have to be set early enough in our own world that we are mostly dealing with virgins and (at worse) the clap, and no known alternatives to monogamous lifestyle. So I expected that, while werewolves might be fun, this would leave me as cold as most modern romance novels do. I just can't concentrate when I'm thinking "jealousy is not sexy, people" or "you are gonna get a disease if you keep being this stupid."Cynthia Eden hooked me with the first paragraph, which I read aloud to my housemate it was so fabulous. Then she did what I've never seen done until now: she handled the safer sex issue in a believable and sexy way!! I put the book down and did a little dance I was so happy!! Here were these hot, believable characters, and now I didn't have to work hard to try and maintain the belief this could be real and fit in "my world, but slanted". I wish I could recommend these to my mom, who loves a good supernatural romance as much as the next gal, but I fear the (entirely appropriately used, and not overused) cuss words would be upsetting to her. I will absolutely be recommending this to all of my peers. Everything I usually find off-putting in typical modern romance was handled beautifully, and the story was well told. I was up until 430am finishing because I just couldn't bring myself to put the book down. The sex was steamy, and always worked to advance the narrative, and I can hardly wait to get my hands on more of these novels. I'll be headed to the bookstore this week.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I enjoyed this urban fantasy/paranormal story. Lucas is a strong hero who has weaknesses that aren't as hidden as he would like. It seems that everyone, including the heroine, is playing on them. The man/wolf is a sucker for a damsel in distress. The heroine is definitely "in distress." She is being chased by another werewolf who has enlisted a couple packs of coyotes to go after her too. They all want her dead.Sarah runs to Lucas but first has to get him out of jail. He has been accused of murder because a body was dumped on his doorstep. This story has it all - werewolves, werecoyotes, demons, vampires, mambos, and charmers. We get to meet a host of Other characters. Sometimes it felt like there were just too many characters. I know that this is not Eden's first book and I am guessing that some of these characters were introduced in other stories. The story deals with crosses, double-crosses and bunches of betrayals. It seems like everyone except Lucas has secrets that impact the plot of the book. It was a story filled with rich complexity and kept me reading until I reached the last page and figured everything out. I liked the romance between Lucas and Sarah. It began realistically with physical attraction but quickly deepened as the characters got to know each other. It took Lucas quite a while to figure out that he was in love with Sarah but that wasn't surprising considering his background. One of the most touching things was when he described his feelings for Sarah and asked her if that was love. I recommend this book and this author if you are looking for good urban fantasy/paranormal romance. The romance was hot and the action was non-stop.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I found Cynthia Eden while stolling the bookstore one day. Do you ever do that just go to the bookstore and wander? Well, I am known to do that a lot, and while browsing Cynthia’s book, Eternal Hunter, was calling to me. So I purchased it and put it in the “to be read” pile. I picked it up about a week later, started reading, and my fate was sealed! I devoured that book and the other two Night Watch books in three days. On day four I read Never Cry Wolf and now I know I will be spending the next week or so catching up on the worlds that Cynthia has created. They are fast paced, extremely addicting and have my heart racing for the action and the romance.Never Cry Wolf centers on Lucas, an alpha wolf shifter, and Sarah who is Other as well, but I am going to leave her ability a mystery for you to discover when you read the book. It will be more fun that way, I promise. Anyway, these two are brought together when Sarah is seeking protection and Lucas seems to be her only hope. He is known for his brutal tactics, loyalty to his pack and his soft spot for those in need. Sarah is counting on that soft spot and hoping that she will be able to use him for protection and get out with her life. She does not count on being so attracted to Lucas and her plan soon begins to unravel before her.Something I have learned about Cynthia’s books is that there is never, and I mean never, a dull moment! You are either trying to figure out who the villain is, decode the main characters secrets (and they always have some) or you are watching as the steam gets turned up between the two protagonists. And Cynthia definitely knows how to write some steamy scenes, I mean it would be a waste if those Alpha males were all talk and no action right? Cynthia is also great at building the suspense and catching the reader off guard. I have seen allies turn into enemies and villains you thought were gone pop back up. Just when you think you are safe Cynthia pulls out another surprise that I never quite see coming. This is one of the many elements in her books that keeps me coming back for more.Alright, back to Lucas and Sarah. Both of them have lead lives that have not been easy and have never really felt like they belonged anywhere. They have tried to get by and make the best with what they have, but are never really happy until they start to let their guards down and let the other in. They balance each other, they are stronger together and that strength is what they are going to need to get through the mess they have found themselves in.Lucas’ pack mates were fantastic secondary characters. All of the wolves have been damaged in some way whether emotionally or psychically and their flaws are what unite them and keep them strong. Dane and Piers were my favorite to watch as the plot unfolds, because while Never Cry Wolf focuses on Lucas finding his mate, Dane and Piers seem to be finding theirs as well. Of course that is just me speculating at the moment, but I am keeping fingers crossed that they will be getting their own story one day too.I did notice while reading this book references to a story of Cynthia’s that I had not read yet, Immortal Danger. After reading Never Cry Wolf I realize now I should have read Immortal Danger first, but guess what I already have waiting for me to read next on my kindle? Yep, Immortal Danger. I wanted to warn anyone who has not read either of these books yet though, that Immortal Danger should probably come first because now I am reading the books out of chronological order. Not that I mind, I just know some things would have made more sense to me had I read them in order.Overall though, I loved Never Cry Wolf. It has everything I want in a book, paranormal creatures, non-stop action, surprising plot twists, hot romance and a fascinating new world to discover. I don’t think it is possible not to like a Cynthia Eden book if you love paranormal romance as much as I do. They are just way too freaking good! If you have not discovered her, you are missing out!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is not my first Cynthia Eden novel, nor will it be my last, but I will tell you if you’ve never read Cynthia, first shame on you, second you’ll have a great introduction to her fantastic writing with NEVER CRY WOLF. Just be warned once you read one novel by Cynthia, you’ll want to read everything she’s written! Now on to my thoughts about NEVER CRY WOLF. Lucas the hero of NEVER CRY WOLF, is all alpha, all the time. He’s the “to die for hero” you’ll love with a past that at times has you smiling, at times tearing up and at times laughing out loud. Same as his present. You’ll love walking with him into love. But don’t worry you’ll love the great “guys” who are beside him as well. For me I think I fell hardest for his younger brother, Jordan but then there’s Dane….and others. You’ll have a whole lot of love to wanna share with these “men”. Then there’s Sarah, our heroine, she has secrets, some that will tee you off as much as they do Lucas, but she’s strong and still “human” or rather realistic. For me I felt like I knew her. Yeah I got mad at her, but I also felt for her. You will too. This is a fast-paced, paranormal romantic suspense. You get good guys, bad guys, guys who you can’t decide if they are good or bad and through it all you have a story that keeps you quickly turning pages. I stayed up all night to read this one and hated to turn the last page. I find even weeks later I’m still thinking about this book and these characters, I’ve actually gone back to reread parts just to remember things. Overall this was a great read, one that I’d highly recommend to everyone who loves shifters, great characters, a fascinating storyline, and a writing style that pulls you in from the first word. I am sooo eager for more and have a feeling you will be too! Reviewed by: Wendy Keel Rating: 5
