About this audiobook

Every choice has consequences-but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden that she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin-the deadliest of demons-has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her, including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city-and her race-from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side-and then fight like hell.

I really enjoyed this series. Obviously more of a teenage series, still I really enjoyed it
(I'm in my late 40's, I love Jennifer l armentrout writing)
my issue comes with the actual recording. At minimum half a word is cut out at the end if each and every chapter. Some were half a sentence. I DO NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH AUDIBLE, it's definitely scribd! Still a quick fun (fairly predictable) series. And I could listen with others around unlike the south ?? scenes in FBAA series. So on some level that's a bonus!?????

Yep, that's what I call a finale. Every Last Breath was amazing. Already one of my favorite series but now it's certainly solidified a space in my wonderfully happy sappy book heart. There was so much taking place in this final book. Much more action than the first two, a lot of answers were also given, plus we learned more about the Wardens existence and about Layla's as well.

Ahhh Roth, he's still as hot as hell, (pun intended this time) and as cheeky as ever. Zayne is still his sweet self. I can't forget Stacey and Sam this time around. I thought Stacey was the bestest gal pal a girl can have. And Sam always had me being all curious about how his he able to carry around so much, some might say useless, but I say fascinating knowledge of the most random of things in his head. I wish I thought to know those things, I should start learning weird factoids and call me self 'fact girl'.

So Layla learned that she will have to be the one to ultimately go up against the Lillin and that not all will make it through. I got teary eyed a few times throughout the book, there were some very sad moments. But of course I had the grinning from ear to ear and the die laughing moments too.
Layla has grown so much in spirit and spunk since the first book but I wish that she would've just believed in herself much sooner.

One of the things that surprised me very much was that Layla made her choice so early on in the book than I would have expected. But I realized it was a smart decision to have that happen, because we were not just given an action packed, amazeballs finale but we had a romantic story also. A love story to calm the masses and make the world sparkle like sparkly supernatural creatures.

Llama, a llama???? Oh Sorry, don't mind me.

This was one of those hard to write reviews, it's hard keeping things light trying not to give too much away. I just want to go spill the beans crazy in this review. I just sooo love love this series and so happy to have such a perfect ending to it. Please Ms. Armentrout, can I have some more?

This is one of those series that could have been so much better than it was. There are a lot of continuity and context errors that a good editor could have picked up. There was a lot that could have been cut and some of the lore needed a lot more explanation to make sense. There were some good ideas but I never felt they were fleshed out well. Same with the characters.

This is the third and final book in the Dark Elements series. This was a well done conclusion to this series. I didn't like it quite as much as the second book, there just wasn't as much action. Parts of the story also felt a bit long. The Lilin has been released and Layla must figure out, not only how to stop the Lilin, but how to free her friend’s soul from Hell. The final battle between the Lilin and our world will take the strength of both the Wardens and the Demons working together to finally defeat and kill the LilinI felt like this was the poorest book of this series for pacing, it’s a long book and parts felt really long. I still enjoyed the characters and world here, but wished there had been more action and less angsting. While I enjoyed the chemistry and scenes between Layla and Roth, there were just too many of them and it made the story feel a bit sluggish. This book really could have used some editing to make these scenes tighter and some of them probably should have been pulled.Despite the above issues, I continue to enjoy the world of the Warden and Demons. I loved some of the backstory about the Wardens and Lilith. I enjoy the characters and the special powers they have. This was a fun series and made for a great light summer read.Overall this was a solid YA series and a fun read. I thought this was one of the slower books in the series and wished there had been more heart-pounding action scenes like there were in the previous books. I did enjoy how everything wrapped up and overall thought this was a very good YA urban fantasy series.

Woot Woot Woot ! Ring a Ding Ding. Yeah I liked how that worked out. I never wavered in my love of a certain amber eyed hottie, I like them bad and he is B.A.D. :P. That was such a fun satisfying ending I'm going take the weekend off reading any new books to bask in the good feels I'm having.

Well, well, well...I have to say, for the final book in a series such as this one, I was not very impressed.

The story as a whole wasn't bad, it just wasn't as explosive and exciting as I'd hoped.

I liked that the pacing of this book was very well done compared to the other books, but the ending was both predictable and not at the same time.

I'm sure it shouldn't come as a surprise to most of you if you've read the synopsis, but...Layla does have to sacrifice herself in order to kill the Lilin. I knew that was coming from the very beginning, but what I didn't see coming was her coming back to life. I have to admit that was a bit surprising...I thought her death seemed a bit final, but...guess not.

Also something I really loved was the fact that Layla chose between Zayne and Roth quite early in the book, and I was very happy with her decision. SHE CHOSE ROTH! YAY! Layla knew what she wanted, made a decision, and carried it out. End of story. Thank you, Layla, for cutting to the chase and not making us read pages and pages of you reasoning why you should chose one guy over the other.

Something I HAVE to rant about is the cover. WHY? Why make the last book's cover different from the other ones? Are you trying to cause insanity amongst us readers?

I guess this would be considered a short review, since I don't really have much else to say. This was one of the "meh" books I suppose.

I wanted to read Every Last Breath because I adore Jennifer's writing. I love her snarky sense of humor, the ability to draw me into her worlds, connect with the main characters, fall in love with her swoony guys, and always want more. I read the first ones and the novella and love her take on gargoyles, as well as really connecting and feeling for the spot that Layla the main character in this one. She lives in a world of Wardens (the full gargoyles) and Roth, who is an upper level demon, but yet he is so attentive and protective of her and even sacrificed himself for her. Then there is Zayne, who she has always been close to and had a crush on, and it's past time for her to make the choice between them. Layla discovers a lot about herself in this one and begins questioning her label as a hybrid-- half warden and half demon. Layla of course had to make her choice between the two boys in her life, that she loves, and realizes loves her back. I was nervous of which one it was going to be, and her reasoning. I really liked them both, they cared for her, and risked their own life and standings with their respective species/bosses. Each are right for her in their own ways, but for me there was one that stood ahead, but I was determined to support her either way. It did give the other guy a real glimpse of possibilities of moving on and being happy, accepting Layla's decision in good graces and not ostracizing her. But I think the the choice she made was for good reasons, and I love seeing that develop even more. Into really steamy levels that made me sigh. On top of the boy situation, Layla also had to deal with the Lillin, and the fall out from who the Lillin stole a soul from, and how much that hurt her and Stacey. There was a lot of grief for a friend lost as well as part of his family that got caught in the cross fire. It became even more complicated than I could have imagined, but it added depth. I liked the overall resolution including the little glimpse of the beginning of their HEA in the 6 months later. It was neat to see how far all of the characters have come from the start of the series. Layla learned so much about herself, and realized that the labels defining good and evil wasn't black and white. She saw some of the greatest acts of compassion from demons, and some that were on the side of good be intolerant and cruel. Bottom Line: Great conclusion with all the things I've come to expect and love from Jennifer.
