About this audiobook

Football star Cole Riley is notorious for doing as he pleases-on the field and off. He parties hard and fights harder. But if he doesn't clean up his act, his career is over-so Cole reluctantly agrees to work with image makeover consultant Savannah Brooks. He's not used to being told what to do, especially by some (admittedly hot) Southern belle. As for Savannah, she's not convinced she can transform this cocky (and aggressively sexy) force of nature. But she's determined to give it her best shot.

When the sparks start to fly, Savannah lays down the ground rules: no personal complications. If she can turn off the tingle she feels every time Cole gives her a hot stare with his gorgeous baby blues, he can turn off his desire as well. But for two people determined to have it all, a hands-off policy can only last so long before one of them yields.

Unfortunately, the books in this series have lost their originality and it is simply more of the same in each installment. That said, this one does have a some plot in between the sex scenes, which makes it an improvement over the last book.

Cole starts out as a narcissistic jerk who is only interested in getting in Savannah's pants. He does change over the course of the book but it feels forced rather than as a natural consequence of Savannah's advice.

Savannah runs hot and cold - jumping on Cole minute only to run home as fast as she can in the next. She has issues with abandonment that she also gets over quite easily.

Have no idea why I keep reading this series - perhaps I'm hoping they'll get better.

I didn't like this one. Cole is an asshole. For no apparent reason and his teams think he's a big enough asshole that even though he's a good player, he's been traded a bunch. This is his last shot, so his agent and team hire a PR person to come change his image. What he needed was a shrink--to come change his personality. Truly. I have no idea other than general hunkiness why Savannah the PR chick fell for him or put up with his crap. Her big solution, that, of course, magically works is for him to "make friends with his teammates". Um, he's a grown man. He should know how to do that, naturally, on his own, without suggestion or cajoling into it by now.

I just didn't like this one. His hotness doesn't compensate for his jerkness. Skip this one and move right onto the next (which I LOVED). You won't be missing out on anything other than his sister's introduction into this series (she's a sports therapist and they are cousins to Mick and Gavin. There I've saved you a few hours of reading something not great. You're welcome.)

Not my favorite in this series but still a good read. I wasn't fond of Savannah and her 'I won't get involved' on one page and sleeping with Cole on the next, and I felt Cole changed just too easily to be real. I did enjoy visiting 'old friends' and will continue with the series.

Okay, hottest sex scenes so far. Right up there with Gavin and Liz's. The book in general was good, but I missed some good ol' angst or just some obstacles between Cole and Savannah. They got together and then everything happened just the way it was supposed to. Take Gavin and Liz for example, they had this huge background story with Gavin's brother and that let to some great angst scenes through out the book. read the excerpt on the next book and I hope with Alicia's story things will be a little more heated.

Another hot and sexy story from Jaci Burton. So far, this one is my favorite in the series. The plot was good, well written even if simple, not to much sex scenes and more focus on the "getting to know you" part. One thing that I noticed also is the repetition of sentences and whole scenes in the books and that's a minus but all in all, this one worked out for me.

PLAYING TO WIN was another hot sports romance in the Play-by-Play series by the talented Jaci Burton. This one stars Cole Riley who is a talented football player but not a talented teammate or team player. His public image which he has burnished by saying the first thing in his head and by being totally uncooperative with the press. He has been let go by a number of NFL teams despite his talent and the St. Louis Traders are his last chance.Savannah Brooks is the image consultant who has been hired by the team to remake his attitude and image. She takes a look at him and is immediately attracted but determined to keep the relationship professional. Cole is determined to make the relationship as personal as he can—and still go his own way with the team and the press.Savannah has a hard task ahead of her which is complicated by her feeling for Cole. She had a miserable childhood and is determined to focus on building her career. Any kind of personal relationship with Cole could wreck her plans. What I like about this series is the strong family relationship between the Rileys and the strong friendships between the female characters who fall in love with them. Building relationships is one of the things that Savannah needs to teach Cole about his professional life. He already has the strong relationships in his family life. The love scenes were hot and spicy. The characters were well-developed. The writing didn't get in the way of the story. This was a great romance.

Savannah (Peaches) Brooks grew up with her mother a druggie. In other words she was alone, but made something very spectacular of her self. She was an image consultant and now assigned the argumentative egotistical Cole Riley. It was a do or die situation. If Cole didn't change his image he was out of football no matter how well he played.

The character development of both H and H is rolled out in a believable fashion. Cole gradually realises his Peaches knew what she was talking about and just because he had never done it before didn't mean it wasn't worth a try.

Savannah trusted no one. They left her. She had done it herself all of her life and there was no reason to change...right? With the help of her friend Liz..(whose wedding to Gavin happens in this book) she begins to see two sides to the story and learns how to yield..a bit.

Although I have enjoyed this whole series, this is one of the better books and worth a read if you are a contemporary sport figure romance fan. The private scenes have a nice variety and are very hot. The party scenes are so realistic you feel the tight shoes as though you are there.

In the end, Savannah learns how to love, trust and finally gets her big family the Rileys. Cole learns it is better to give than receive every where but on the football field.
