About this audiobook

When Diego Escobar assists in what should be a simple task
of arresting a trespasser, he comes face-to-face with his first Shifter-the
beautiful Cassidy Warden, sister of the Shiftertown leader. Assigned to watch
over her, Diego learns more about the lonely, wild Cassidy than it's safe to
know.

Diego might be human, but he's virile and darkly handsome, and stirs Cassidy's
mating desire, which she thought dead forever. Once the fires begin, nothing
and no one can put them out.

this book surprised me really. I thought it would be predictable but instead its rich in conflict. Review later

I have to admit that I've been a fan of the series from the start and Wild Cat didn't disappoint. I've read a lot of paranormal romance/urban fantasy stories and I think Cassidy is the first Alpha Female lead, and she's an excellent choice to introduce the Las Vegas pack. (I know there are others out there, like Mercy Thompson, but she is not an alpha until she marries the alpha). Cassidy and Diego are a great match. I am inspired by, or really enjoy, the easy going alpha males Ashley has introduced us to in her series as they really balance out the strong willed, hard headed, super smart, ladies they choose as mates. I liked the progression of the story and the romance. I also like that the Shifters are always at least one step ahead of the humans and find a way to fit in to their plans and take over. It makes the story really fun to read.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the series would get too much for me as these paranormal series really aren't usually my thing. But, Ashley goes for something a little different than what the first two books did. She adds a whole new community to her story which makes me happy because that means more to read! Her plots are really interesting and the romance is great.

This is the 3rd installment in the Shifters Unbound series, which takes place in a different setting with a completely new set of characters, and as such it can be considered a first book.

The primary couple, Cassidy and Diego, have absolutely no chemistry whatsoever and the development of their relationship is slow and tedious. The secondary romance building between Eric and Iona is far more compelling and their short scenes together burn up the pages.

The plot is comprised of several threads none of which are particularly coherent or cohesive. It would seem that both Cassidy and Diego are searching for those who have wronged them, but the resolution of each of these stories is ridiculous to say the least. The identity of the person responsible for the death of Cassidy’s mate is not only glaringly obvious, but he turns out to be a pathetic excuse for a villain and the whole redemption and forgiveness theme is irritating in the extreme. Similarly, the conclusion to Diego’s revenge plot is nothing more than absurd page filler, and the final confrontation scene at the end is convoluted, disjointed and downright weird.

All in all, not up to Jennifer Ashley’s usual standards and if it weren’t for the intriguing world building and my desire to see what happens with Eric, Ione and the collars, I would probably call it quits with this series. One final comment concerns the blurb, which contains a small yet important error, namely that the story takes place one year and not three after the death of Cassidy’s mate.
