      The different types of dragons that have been added in this book are important and pretty cool. the illustrations are nice. In the back of the book, the guide to dragons and dragonese dictionary is interesting too.

      Toothless stands to attract the real wrath of Hiccup's father, so Hiccup must break into the Meathead Public Library and battle the Hairy Scary Librarian, which is not likely to end well. Really fun children's book in the same vein as the others in the series. David Tennant is a wonderful reader of the audio version.

      although another fun read it was too short. All of the pages at the back of the book were taken up with a dragon guide and dragonese dictionary. Though fun in temselves I would have prefered the last 50 pages to have been filled with story.

      Hiccup once again finds himself in trouble, this time on his birthday. Instead of celebrating, he's trying to break into the Meathead Public Library, which isn't open to the public, inhabited by the Hairy Scary Librarian, who really is scary, to steal a book for a burglary competition.

      These stories are adorable and hilarious, but if you're finding them based on having watched the movies, be prepared that Toothless is NOTHING like he is on screen. With that huge difference in mind (because I was absolutely in love with movie Toothless and was initially disappointed to find out how different he was in the books) settle yourself in for a treat! These are so much fun, you can't help but smile while reading them. If you're listening, David Tennant does a phenomenal job of bringing Hiccup and the Vikings to life, and in that respect, it's every bit as fun as the movie was.

      I know I will listen to these over and over whenever I need a pick me up, they're so darn cute!

      A Hero's Guide to Deadly Dragons is about a boy named Hiccup and his pet dragon Toothless. To keep Toothless from being banished for life, Hiccup and his two friends have to go on an adventure that could kill them. This adventure takes them to the Meathead Public Library. The Meathead Public Library is graded by the Meathead tribe and The Hairy Scary Librarian a ruthless old man who will kill you if you try to take a book, he thinks the all the books are his and Vikings don't disserve to read. Hiccup and his friends got caught by the librarian and barley escape, but they're not safe yet the still have to get out without the Meatheads' driller dragons finding them. As they were running away Hiccup saw a book written by one of his ancestors and when he grabs it a secret door opens and then they get out unhurt. Then they get home and everyone is happy that they are back. I really like A Hero's Guide to Deadly Dragons. I rate this book five stars *****. It was surprising because as soon as they thought that they were safe something else tried the kill them. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes adventure books. This book was also funny.

      To save his dragon, Toothless, from being banished, Hiccup must sneak into the Meathead Public Library and steal the Viking's most sacred book. But the Vikings see books as a dangerous influence and keep them locked up and under heavy guard. To save his friend, Hiccup must brave the Hairy Scary Librarian, his dreadful army of Meathead Warriors, and the formidable Driller Dragons. Will he make it out and live to see his next birthday?I adored this book! I haven't read any of the other Hiccup books but I will be now and I'll be sharing these with my nephews. This had a comical story about a young Viking boy, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, the Hope and Heir to the Tribe of the Hairy Hooligans, who is in his first year of the Pirate Training Program and isn't really turning out like the HERO he is expected to be much to the dismay of his father, Stoick the Vast, O Hear His Name and Tremble, the Chief of the Hairy Hooligans. And this is a time where you weren't allowed to be anything less.Imagine a time of VIKING HEROES, in which men were men and women were sort of men, too, and even some babies had chest hair.Poor Hiccup is off to a miserable start for his twelfth birthday but it does make for a hilarious adventure.Almost every page had wonderful illustrations, hand drawn sketches of Vikings and dragons. There were also excerpts from the Hero's Guide and they looked like drawings from a book. And all throughout there were different interesting fonts that added to the fun. It's not just a good story it's also fun to look at.In the back of the book at the end of the story were some great additions.Dragon Profiles - names, drawings, statistics and notations of each of the dragons Hiccup has experience with.Dragonese Dictionary - important terms for the readerall right - okey dokeybad mood - thunder puffs issa zappingchair - bum supportDragonese colors and numbersyellow - butter color1,2,3 -oos, doos, twaConversations with Toothless the Dragon - get to know Hiccup's cute little dragon (the littlest ever and he has no teeth but very hard gums) even better.Highly recommended.
