About this audiobook

The nationally bestselling author of the Ten Tiny Breaths series and Burying Water—which Kirkus Reviews called “a sexy, romantic, gangster-tinged page-turner”—returns with a new novel packed with romance, plot twists, and psychological suspense.

Ivy Lee, a talented tattoo artist who spent the early part of her twenties on the move, is looking for a place to call home. She thinks she might have finally found it working in her uncle’s tattoo shop in San Francisco. But all that changes when a robbery turns deadly, compelling her to pack up her things yet again.

When they need the best, they call him. That’s why Sebastian Riker is back in California, cleaning up the mess made after a tattoo shop owner who resorted to blackmail and got himself shot. But it’s impossible to get the answers he needs from a dead body, leaving him to look elsewhere. Namely, to the twenty-something-year-old niece who believes this was a random attack. Who needs to keep believing that until Sebastian finds what he’s searching for.

Ivy has one foot out of San Francisco when a chance encounter with a stranger stalls her departure. She’s always been drawn to intense men, so it’s no wonder that she now finds a reason to stay after all, quickly intoxicated by his dark smile, his intimidating strength, and his quiet control.

That is, until Ivy discovers that their encounter was no accident—and that their attraction could be her undoing.

OK 3.5* stars. I enjoyed it but I think burying water, the first in this series is my favorite so far.

I've liked all of this series. I enjoy them and hope there's another one after this. I didn't give it five stars cuz I just don't like the depiction of the men's voices.

Surviving Ice is a wonderfully suspenseful adventure. I was really blown away by how the author was able to keep me on my toes. The elements of mystery were excellently woven into this a-typical love story.
The characters are refreshing as well. I was a little concerned that I wasn't going to connect with Ivy. In the previous books of this series, she was portrayed as cold & sometimes even callous. But, as the main character, I was drawn to her strength, even if she was still a little enigmatic. Sebastian really piqued my interest as well. He's challenging and intelligent and charming. I wouldn't have thought to put these 2 characters together ... but Ms. Tucker figured out how perfect they would actually be together. Very well done!

I like the plot; easy to listen to, and I love the characters. A non-traditional love story, but it kept me entertained. Perhaps, we needed a bit more action, lol ? I wanted Sebastian to show himself off.

If you have kept up with the Burying Water series, you have met Ivy a time or two. Now you get to know Ivy and her world. Her world has always been crazy and now it's turned upsidedown. Things have taken a horrible turn.

Just like the other recent books from K.A. Tucker, this isn't your usual romance. Throw in some suspense and a murder, and you have another winning book from a wonderful author.

I was intrigued from start to finish, as usual. I couldn't put this one down. I think this is rivals the first book in the series, which is still my favorite. This one comes in a close second. Once you pick it up, you won't want to put it down until you are done.

K.A. has a way with her words in these books. They flow seamlessly, keeping you enthralled throughout the entire story.

4.5 "Target or Game Changer?" Stars! I have read each and every one of the Burying Water Series and have greatly enjoyed them all. Without a doubt, KA Tucker is very talented romantic suspense writer. Surviving Ice is no different. Throughout this series we had gotten a peak at the tough-shelled, tatted heroine Ivy, so I had been eager to hear her story. And what a story it is! Moreover, I was equally pleased to find that the assassin for hire hero, who works for a private security firm that does clandestine government style missions, had an equally compelling story to tell. Perhaps the only sad point of this book, is that it is the last of the series. I for one wish there were more books to come, but I'm sure no matter what KA Tucker chooses to write next, it will be equally as compelling and engrossing as this series has been.Ivy is back in San Francisco. She is living with her uncle and working at his tattoo shop. Thinking she just might finally have found a place she wants to stay put in for a while, she is blind sighted by what happens next. Her witnessing of a gruesome crime--her uncle's murder.Following that, she is desperate to move on, but left with no choice but to clean up her uncle's shop and prepare his shop and home for sale. It is during this transition period that Ivy meets the secretive, but sexy Sebastian. And that questions begin to arise as to exactly why her uncle was murdered. Sebastian is on a mission. One of many that he has undertaken at the hands of the private, clandestine security firm that he works for. Never being in one place for long, and doing the jobs that he assumes the public never really wants to know occur to maintain the peace, comes easy to this former Navy Seal. But he has finally been given a mission that he feels like he must question. When things are not quite what they seem, what will the fiercely independent, Ivy and military trained commando, Sebastian, choose to do? Will they be able to fight their natural inclinations to take flight, in the case of Ivy, and follow orders, in the case of Sebastian; or, will they for the first time in their lives fight for something that could mean so much more?Entertaining and enthralling, lovers of suspense titles will be captivated by the suspenseful plot of this story. At the same time, the romance between this--somewhat unlikely and yet equally explosive--pair is sure to keep your romance lust sated.Source: Review copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

I honestly believe this is K.A. Tucker's most intense and suspenseful story to date that left me gasping through most of the story. I was gripped by the suspense and the story right from the start. When I read about Ivy in Chasing River, I knew I wanted her to have a book on her own and K.A. Tucker didn't disappoint! I consider Ivy to be on the badass side. She's an incredibly strong female character and her strength is shown by how well she handles the death of her uncle. Ivy never stays in one place for long so when she arrives in San Fransisco and starts to work with her uncle in his tattoo shop, she feels like she finally has found a home. Her world is shaken when her uncle dies and she's ready to move once again but she meets Sebastian and her heart is telling her to stay.Sebastian was a Navy SEAL who now works for a security company. What Ivy doesn't know is that her uncle died knowing valuable information which was recorded and that tape was hidden. Sebastian's job is to look for that tape and the prime suspect is Ivy and he'll do whatever he can to find that tape.Ivy's and Sebastian's character were intricate but molded into each other so perfectly. They are very strong and independent characters. Each character gave me different feelings: Ivy had me concerned for her well-being but her want to stay strong helped me trust her choices and believe that she will be all right. Sebastian was a complicated matter and I had no idea what to think of him in the beginning. Later on he made me feel safe and I learned to trust him especially with Ivy. Both of these characters have gone through a lot and they understand each other extremely well. The mystery and suspense of what would happen had me biting my nails. I was scared and excited to find out the end result of things and I have to say everything was handled so well! And I cannot end this review without mentioning the chemistry between Ivy and Sebastian, which was OFF THE CHARTS! Right from the start when they meet, you could feel the sexual tension between them and it wasn't long before they gave in to their desires. This story was exhilirating, suspensful and entertaining from beginning to end. K.A. Tucker gave a great ending to this series and I highly recommend everyone to read.

3.5 stars (like it a lot) I wanted to read Surviving Ice because I have enjoyed the other books in the Burying Water series, as well as Tucker's Ten Tiny Breaths series. I like her hot romances, and characterization. Ivy is a wanderer and is just thinking about putting down some roots when she witnesses a crime and she is all of the sudden scared and wanting to leave again. But she has obligations and she feels the responsibility to help handle some of the fall out after losing her mentor and friend. Sebastian is on the other end of the spectrum, and Ivy has no idea what he knows and what he is after when they meet and he seems to connect with her. Their romance may or may not survive what the other knows and what they don't know is in fact hurting the other. It was hard to see when Ivy didn't know things abut Sebastian, and that he is having to lie to her or tell half truths. But they had so much chemistry and in a short amount of time found themselves depending on the other and entertaining thoughts of settling down where such things didn't really cross their minds before. It was a nice read and the mystery figuring out how Ned was involved and if Sebastian is going to have to push his morals in order to do his job. I am not paid for this review, and my opinions in this review are mine, and are not effected by the book being free.Bottom Line: Nice chemistry and premise.
