About this audiobook

From the author of Rise and Shine Benedict Stone, now an original movie on Hallmark.

“An endearing celebration of life.” -RealSimple.com

Perfect for fans of A Man Called Ove, this curiously charming debut follows a lovable widower and his life-changing adventure of love and self-discovery.

Sixty-nine-year-old Arthur Pepper lives a simple life. He gets out of bed at precisely 7:30 a.m., just as he did when his wife, Miriam, was alive. He dresses in the same gray slacks and mustard sweater vest, waters his fern, Frederica, and heads out to his garden.

But on the one-year anniversary of Miriam’s death, something changes. Sorting through Miriam’s possessions, Arthur finds an exquisite gold charm bracelet he’s never seen before. What follows is a surprising and unforgettable odyssey that takes Arthur from London to Paris and as far as India in an epic quest to find out the truth about his wife’s secret life before they met—a journey that leads him to find hope and healing in the most unexpected places.

Featuring an unforgettable cast of characters with big hearts and irresistible flaws, The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper is a joyous reminder of life’s infinite possibilities.

I listen to anywhere from three to six audiobooks a week and I rarely give out ratings over three stars, so for me to rate a book five stars it must be really good. I loved this book and the characters and the main character's journey of growth and self development in a way that felt genuine. Loved it!

I loved this book. I'm normally a historical fiction reader but what a delightful break it was to adventure along with Arthur Pepper as he discovered mysteries about his deceased wife and how he learned to live again. It is funny at times, but mostly it's just a nice, heartwarming read. If you're looking for a feel-good book, this is worth it.

Loved this book. Being of an age I could relate to the story but the writing is intelligent, funny and descriptive but not boring with too much description. The characters are well developed and likable. The narration is great!

This book was a wonderful escape from the stress and bad news these days. It is a story about love and friendship and human growth. The mysteries of the charms keep one reading, but the humor and pathos of the characters make it enjoyable. I enjoyed this book very much.

Even though, at times, I felt like this book moved very slowly, I simply loved learning about Arthur's journey toward, not finding out about his wife's life before him, but about finding his own life without his wife. It was quite a journey, but with one of the happiest endings.

Best book I've read/listened to in a long time. It kept me smiling and laughed aloud a few times. It's charming yet holds little nuggets of wisdom about acceptance of people that are different and learning to embrace adventure at any age. The narrator was a perfect fit as well!
