About this audiobook

From New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel. Sharing a summer house with a hot-as-hell roommate should be a dream come true, right? Not when it’s Justin…the only person I’d ever loved…who now hates me. When my grandmother died and left me half of the house on Aquidneck Island, there was a catch: the other half would go to the boy she helped raise. The same boy who turned into the teenager whose heart I broke years ago. The same teenager who’s now a man with a hard body and a hardass personality to match. I hadn’t seen him in years, and now we’re living together because neither one of us is willing to give up the house. The worst part? He didn’t come alone. I’d soon realize there’s a thin line between love and hate. I could see through that smug smile. Beneath it all…the boy is still there. So is our connection. The problem is…now that I can’t have Justin, I’ve never wanted him more. Author's note – RoomHate is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

What a slow burn! I was completely thrown off by the surprise half way through, but I couldn't imagine things happening any other way. While this book had me yelling "stupid girl" more times than normal it made me cry, twice. Two thumbs up!

A sweet and intense Love Stiory, with some rwists and turns, although ultimately predictable.

Not sure if i could finish the book. Amelia is such a creeper. She keeps watching Justin and getting caught doing it.

I absolutely love this book and was hooked from beginning to end. It was sweet and romantic in all the right ways...not too over the top with believable characters and some houmous moments. No boring bits. The narration was very good, though I would have liked to hear a male narrator for the male characters but this isn't always full proof and felt the narrator did a pretty good job with her male voice.

Justin and Amelia go from childhood friends to frenemies in the blink of an eye. They never believe they'll have to see each other again until Amelia's grandmother leaves the summer house for both of them. Something neither of them is excited about.

Justin has a secret he's been holding onto since the day they stopped talking and Amelia now has an unexpected surprise to deal with.

I loved how Justin became protective of Amelia when he found out about her predicament and even though she carried on dating Justin was there trying to be the big brother she never had. There is definitely emotional cheating. I felt sorry for Justin's partner throughout. I would have loved more from some of the scenes so that they were more in-depth as the story felt rushed and unnatural during times trying to get to the point.

ok…definitely not her best work for sure. the story was eh, eh. did not progress well; boring at times, almost to the point of being yawn worthy.

    2.5 Stars for me!

My rating range of this story... 1 - 3.5 Stars
If significant, why? So much. The H is an ass, the h is a major doormat, the pregnancy... what?
Biggest deduction? 1.5 Stars - the MCs

    Main Character Ratings...

    h (Amelia) =
TSTL Moment(s)? Just the h doing the same thing over and over!

    Narrator Rating(s)

    F (Zoe McKay) =
    If below 5/10, why? 7/10

Was cheating involved? Discussed physical that both MCs went through, even with their parent's infidelity.
Any major triggers to be aware of? Cheating, slut shaming

    If Comedy... Type? Cringe

    3 Stars for me!

    Internal Monolog/Dialog? Extreme please stop!
Light, Moderate, Heavy or Please Stop

    Scenes with heat... Yes
What point does it start? 30%
How much of the story? 15%
    Anything beyond M/F? No
    If yes, explained

    Heat Rating... 6/10
Clean or Fade to Black - 1 or 2
    Normal to Descriptive 3-5
    Detailed Descriptive Sex - 6-7
Um, Wow, Beyond Descriptive Sex - 8 or above

Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? No

The back story... The MCs were best friends in school but at 16, the h sees something that makes her run away from all and stats gone until her grandmother passes away and leaves her half if the house... and the other half went to the H.

Romance or Gist: Nothing besides lust for the first 70% of the story. I felt nothing between the MCs through 95% of the story.

The drama explosion... The h has a major issue with her child while the H is out of town.
Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? Ok
    Was it OTT? Ni
    Separation involved? Not really
Was it resolved properly or rushed? It was ok

Final Notes... I normally enjoy stories written by Penelope Ward but I really didn't like this story. The h was such a weak person who took constant abuse from the H, her Ex and her landlord and just didn't want to rock the boat. Ugh.

The pregnancy? I won't ruin it for those who want to read the story but every part of it was out of left field and a bit OTT.

The H was a douche and only cared about himself.

I’ve yet to read a Penelope Ward title I didn’t love, but Roomhate is my favorite! It’s angsty pull between the H and h brought all the feels on their complex journey to a true HEA! I especially appreciated the values of family as they slowly developed in this story…particularly of two who didn’t have role models for a strong family. This was my first book from the narrator, and I thoroughly enjoyed her performance.

The narrator sounded alot older than what Amelia should sound like. Story wise was okay and author did manage to make it as angsty as she could

I really enjoyed this read, but man Amelia got to my last never, I get she was very insecure but man I wanted to slap her at times, I kept on telling her "no don't do that" or "are you stupid don't you see it"
Justin got into my nerves as well
He was an asshole but not in a cute way sometimes. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the smartass comments but him being selfish didn't sit well with me.
Other thing I'd have love, would have been having his POV I found myself wanting to know what he was thinking and I also think it'd have been much more fun to be in his head than Amelia's

Someone that can make you cry and laugh at the same time deserve no less than 4 stars

The story was great but I needed more
I love me an angsty book but she was too immature and insecure for me

Not as good as reading the book. The narrator's voice didn't seem to fit the character. However, if I listened before I had read the book, I might not have preconceived thoughts on Amelia’s voice.

Wasn’t really thrilled at the start of the audiobook since the narrator wasn’t so enticing. Though, after getting hooked with the story, narrator aside, I’m touched and glad I listened till the end. Great love story. Justin represents a great character of a man everyone would love to have.

This story had so much LOVE and insecurities! Justin and Amelia’s history is just such a dreamy story. Make me wish that I had a friend like that when I was young!

Lots of surprises in this book that I absolutely LOVED!
