About this audiobook
Navy SEAL sniper instructor Eric Davis applies his discipline techniques to raising his son in this incredible audiobook, Raising Men: Lessons Navy SEALs Learned from Their Training and Taught to Their Sons.
After Eric Davis spent over sixteen years in the military, including a decade in the SEAL teams, his family was more than used to his absence on deployments and secret missions that could obscure his whereabouts for months at a time. Without a father figure in his own life since the age of fifteen, Eric was desperate to maintain the bonds he'd fought so hard to forge when his children were young--particularly with his son, Jason, because he knew how difficult it was to face the challenge of becoming a man on one's own. Unfortunately Eric learned the hard way that quality time doesn't always show up in quantity time.
Facebook, television, phones, video games, school, jobs, friends--they all got in the way of a real, meaningful father-son relationship. It was time to take action.
As a SEAL, Eric learned to innovate and push boundaries, allowing him to function at levels beyond what was expected, comfortable, ordinary, and even imaginable, and he knew that as a father he needed to do the same with his son. Meeting extreme with extreme was the only answer.
Using a unique blend of discipline, leadership, adventure, and grace, Eric and his SEAL brothers will teach you how to connect and reconnect with your sons and learn how to raise real men--the Navy SEAL way.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Simple, clean, and profound. If you use even one of the lessons, you will be a better father, husband, and dare a say man. Learn from people who don’t judge as good or bad, but instead base decisions on if some one comes home alive or not.
Put your ego and be humble. Read, listen, and learn. We are all better for having read his book.
We are all safe because of the men and women who serve, they are sharing their lessons for less than a fast food meal. Don’t miss the opportunity. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a great read! Highly recommend this for dads out there trying to make a difference in their boys life.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was an excellent book and provides excellent advice. Thank you.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Quite possibly one of the best books on fatherhood ever! The straight to the point advice was exactly what dads need to hear in a way we need to hear it. Grateful for the lessons learned that will not only change my parenting but also the way I conduct myself in life.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a GREAT book. I have 3 boys under the age of 3. I will definitely carry this book throughout my life
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Intense and intensely practical. Basic stuff for humans to grow and prosper, adults and children. If you want your kids to turn out right, you need to show them what winning looks like.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’m sad it has to end, so much so, I’ll probably read it over again. Of course there’s so much only my husband can teach our son, yet I still learned so much. My husband is a navy veteran so the author was very nostalgic to me. I drew a lot of parallels to our own lives, rearing children, and in our marriage. Thank you for a wonderful book! It’s pure gold!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was an engaging book with really good personal reflection at the end of each chapter. I took note of the questions at the end of each chapter to go over and reflect on. The swearing and sheer amount of swearing was completely unnecessary to make the writer’s points. I don’t know that parenting or being a Dad is quite so “be a dad by sheer will and determination” as perhaps being a SEAL may be but there are definite worthwhile takeaways. Being a Dad is hard work but it’s the best calling one could ever hope for!
