About this audiobook

From the author of Mastered and Dominated comes the third Enforcers novel—the searing story of a woman who finds sanctuary in surrender.…

He can’t change who he is.…

A horrific childhood has made Silas the man he is today: dangerous, distrustful, and demanding. He’s lived in self-imposed solitude, convinced that no woman could ever accept his need for absolute control—in business and pleasure. That is, until a young violinist walks into one of his buildings and into his life.

She can’t change what she wants.…

Haley has been struggling to fulfill her father’s dying wish: to attend a prestigious music school in New York City. But even working two jobs, she can’t afford the tiniest of apartments. Seeing her hopeless and near tears, Silas vows to help and protect her, no matter the cost to himself. But when Haley meets his every demand with unwavering acceptance and love, he is overwhelmed by her goodness and gentle spirit. He knows that the dark stain on his soul can never be erased—and rather than risk destroying the most beautiful thing he's ever experienced, he knows he'll have to do the hardest thing he's ever had to face. Let her go. But he's totally unprepared for the lengths Haley will go to fight for his love and a future brighter than the sun.…

5 stars. Silas was my favorite character in the book,Dominant, second only to angelica. Am glad he’s the H in this book. He’s the most feared and strongest enforcer of the brothers. He has a compassionate and a gentle soul but can instantly transform into a killing machine. He and his brothers understand they must go outside of the law to do their job. In this book he found the woman who understands, accepts, loves, and supports him. She believes in him. she helps him realize he and his brothers are the best kind of men.I enjoyed this series many yrs ago on Scribd and am glad it’s back.

3.5 "Princess" Stars for the story and 4 Stars for the narration.Lovers of the knight in shining (or in this case, "tarnished") armor saves the damsel in distress themed romances will love Kept the most. With a very strong alpha, protective hero, who believes himself to be unworthy due to a horrific past, and a heroine who is perfectly content with being swept-up, provided for and completely protected, Kept is sure to be appealing to lovers of the Fifty Shades of Grey styled romances. And yes, Kept does have a BDSM element to the passion/romance, but I would call it, BDSM light, and every aspect is completely consensual (although the hero did suffer domestic violence in the past, so if this is a trigger for you, please take this into consideration). Therefore if you enjoy a strong protective hero styled romance, but are less inclined to try an erotica heat level of romance (or a dark romance), Kept toes the middle ground well as it contains some BDSM elements but the focus of the hero's control over the heroine is on pleasure and her protection, not pain. Haley is all alone. With her father having passed away prematurely from cancer her main support network is gone. Even worse she promised him she would fulfill his wish that she become a concert violinist, but given that her father was swindled by a life insurance salesman after his cancer diagnosis, she is left with no cash, two jobs, and attending music school on a part-time basis. She barely sleeps, practicing her violin into the wee hours of the night after her two jobs to keep up with her school schedule, and then she loses her apartment. It is at this most desperate point in her life that Silas, an enforcer for Drake (the hero of the 1st book in this series, Mastered), and a man who through his own business ventures has become a millionaire, catches sight of Haley. Surprising his superintendent and everyone else who know him as an extreme loner, he offers her an apartment at a ridiculous low price in a building he both owns and lives in. Haley can't believe her good luck and with no other options accepts. What Haley doesn't know is that the "apartment" was actually a piece of his that he partitioned with a wall, so he could provide her a place to live. But even having done this, Silas knows he is still no good for a sweet innocent girl like Haley, so he refuses to meet her--even if he cant help but fall in love with her beautiful music which he can hear through the wall that divides them. Then one day his need for control, and related obsessive compulsive behavior, leads him to realize that Haley hasn't arrived home when she is usually home. Convinced someone has detained her, he goes out searching for her, arriving just in time to save her from a violent crime though she is hurt in the process. Silas then takes it upon himself to oversee her healing and they get to know one another during the process. However, he still believes himself unworthy even if he can't help but protect her. Could there possibly be a HEA under these circumstances?Jeremy York does a relatively good job with the narration. Providing distinguishable voices for Haley and Silas, the listener can easily tell the hero and heroine apart without having to rely on dialogue tags. The pace of the narration also works well making it easy for the listener to sit back and enjoy the story. Perhaps my only observation about Mr. York's narration, though I don't fault him too much as I think it is in keeping with the general tenor of the story, is that at a few points the rendition sounds somewhat overly dramatized. Then again, these passages do occur in situations when either the heroine and someone else is in danger. All in all, Kept is an audiobook which will be best enjoyed by FSOG fans and those looking for a comfort listen with a hero who is sure to make the listener feel safe, treasured and protected.
