About this audiobook

Save for his raucous, rhapsodical autobiography, Ecce Homo, The Antichrist is the last thing that Nietzsche ever wrote, and so it may be accepted as a statement of some of his most salient ideas in their final form. Of all Nietzsche’s books, The Antichrist comes nearest to conventionality in form. It presents a connected argument with very few interludes, and has a beginning, a middle and an end. The reason to listen to this version is that H.L. Mencken, the famous journalist, turned Nietzsche's German into such direct, plain-spoken American English that it puts the haranguing philosopher right up in your face.

Author

Friedrich Nietzsche

Friedrich Nietzsche was a German philosopher and author. Born into a line of Protestant churchman, Nietzsche studied Classical literature and language before becoming a professor at the University of Basel in Switzerland. He became a philosopher after reading Schopenhauer, who suggested that God does not exist, and that life is filled with pain and suffering. Nietzsche’s first work of prominence was The Birth of Tragedy in 1872, which contained new theories regarding the origins of classical Greek culture. From 1883 to 1885 Nietzsche composed his most famous work, Thus Spake Zarathustra, in which he famously proclaimed that “God is dead.” He went on to release several more notable works including Beyond Good and Evil and The Genealogy of Morals, both of which dealt with the origins of moral values. Nietzsche suffered a nervous breakdown in 1889 and passed away in 1900, but not before giving us his most famous quote, “From life's school of war: what does not kill me makes me stronger.”

Keep the man voice of F.N., not the girl; it doesn't read well in a feminine light

The Antichrist" begins with the writer's egotistical pledge to become immortal, & then he pretty much backs his shit up. Masterfully. He identifies his readership & reading Nietzsche is like joining a secret club that's more than a century old.

I Give this one a 5 star based not merely on his merits of writing but because of his radical ideas. I will not, however, review the book. I am just flabbergasted at his ideas and how his psyche worked. I loved this book not just because I am an atheist but because some of the points that he makes are actually true. Oh! and the dry sarcasm that surfaces every now and then were as wonderful as his ideas.

The motivation to tune in to this variant is that H.L. Mencken, the renowned writer, transformed Nietzsche's German into such immediate, straightforward American English that it puts the lecturing logician straight up in your face. This is actually an astounding and one of my most loved book recording. This book recording is loaded with sympathy, commendable, fair and kind. Everything is so natural to comprehend and all around clarified. I truly delighted in tuning in to this book recording. I thanks the writer of this book to compose a particularly astonishing book. I would prescribe this book to each and every individual who are keen on tuning in to book recording.

This audiobook is very intriguing, Nietzsche claimed that the Christian religion and its morality are based on imaginary fictions. In which I have pondered to think,The Christian God reflects Christianity's decadence. If Christians were naturally strong and confident, they would have a God who is destructive as well as good. A God who counsels love of enemy, as well as of friend, is a God of a people who feel themselves as perishing and without hope. Weak, decadent, and sick people, whose will to power has declined, will give themselves a God who is purely good, according to Nietzsche. This is a must have for your collection.
