About this audiobook
Everything's coming together for budding fashion designer Carolina Preston. Only months away from having her own line, she could use some publicity. That's when her brother suggests his best friend as a model-hockey player Drew Hogan.
Carolina and Drew already have a history-a hot one, back in college. Unforgettable for Carolina, but for Drew, just another slap shot. This time, though, it's different. His perfect body would be for professional use only. This time, she could use him.
Drew is all for it. He's looking forward to the exposure. Plus, it would give him a chance to prove to Carolina that he's changed. If only he could thaw her emotions, convince her to let down her guard and let him in just one more time . . .

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I haven't read this series for few months and this is a good thing since these books are quite similar to each other. I generally enjoyed the whole story.
Carolina is starting her fashion designer career and really has no time for relationships. Drew, her college crush, is dedicated to win her back, still he is in the middle of a very demanding hockey season with many other thing to worry about.
The sex is good, even though a bit tendentious. There are tones of sex which is typical for this series and the plot development area is lacking a bit. I'm not sure there are enough feelings between Carolina and Drew. Passion for sure, love - I'm not so sure. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoy sports romance, but the number of times I’ve heard “I’m going to come,” or “you’re going to make me come” in this series is getting comical. Makes it seem like there is a lot of cut and paste being used to come up with the copious copulation scenes.

Why do I continue with this series? Maybe its the sensationally sexy covers, or perhaps it is the occasional glimpse of a great couple and engaging storyline as in books #2 Changing the Game and #5 Thrown by a Curve. Unfortunately, Melting the Ice does not provide that elusive story, and the cover does not compensate for the stilted writing (Burton can do so much better) or lackluster characters.
Drew is a narcissistic jerk whose humungous ego knows no bounds, and Carolina is a doormat plain and simple. She forgives Drew’s behavior both past and present far too easily apparently because he looks good in the clothes she designs.
Drew and Carolina’s chemistry is virtually non-existent. There is no real emotion in their relationship, which mainly consists of of a series of mechanical sexcapades in outlandish locations. Simply put, their romance is non-sensical and unbelievable.
The secondary characters are nothing more than window dressing and add absolutely nothing to the story. The updates to Evelyn and Gray’s romance feel as if Burton is merely going through the motions, and the short trip to the Briscoe family is tacked on as a short intro to the next book.
In sum, a contrived, predictable and mundane addition to the series, which is a pity as Burton’s sports romance concept has such tremendous potential. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Enjoyed this so much more than the first Jaci Burton one I read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Steamy! Physically poetic, a sexy dance of words weaving a beautiful story of two people that are so wrapped up in their careers, they believe they have no room in their lives for a relationship. In reality, a relationship is exactly what they are creating. The declaration on Drew's part is a little anti-climatic but it is a beautiful story and is a great read! I love the way the author used the co-mingling of the careers and Carolina's interest in hockey from an artistic viewpoint as well as enjoying the sport for fun and as a way to support Drew. She also used that interest to paint the electricity and the sensuality of part of their attraction. Jaci Burton never fails to deliver!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sexy as all get out and I loved Carolina and Drew together. Steam was pratically coming out of the my kindle's screen. lol
I also loved the new take in regards of Carolina's profession. She was into fashion, which put a new flavor to the story and agreed very well with the sports side of things. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5MELTING THE ICE was another sexy sports romance by a master of the genre. This one also explores the "wrong time, wrong place" trope as Carolina and Drew had a one-night stand as he is graduating from college. He goes off to work on his future as a NHL star leaving her heart-broken.Fast forward some years and Carolina is a fashion designer who is ready to launch her own line and needs a male model with a reputation of his own. Her brother suggests his best friend Drew. Carolina is reluctant but can't deny that Drew's standing as a hockey star will help get needed publicity for her debut. Drew has grown up and has never forgotten Carolina. He is a little conflicted because of the rule of not hitting on a friend's younger sister. He wants a chance to show Carolina that he is not the thoughtless douche that he was in college. The romance almost goes astray because of how busy both Carolina and Drew are. They don't seem to have very much in common. Hockey and fashion don't usually mix. This is a story about love triumphing over these superficial differences. Fans of sexy sports romances are the audience for this one.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Melting the Ice features my favorite sport, Hockey. Jaci Burton has written another sexy entertaining romance. The banter between Carolina and Drew is witty, and the desire is steamy (hence the title). Carolina Preston is preparing to launch her new clothing line at the upcoming fashion week. Her new line is a combination of casual apparel for both men and women. Her male line is inspired by athletes. She blackmails her brother, NASCAR champion, Gray Preston to model her new male line. Determined that he will not suffer this indignity alone he volunteers his best friend, Travelers Hockey forward, Drew Hogan.“Gray’s right. Drew would be ideal,” Evelyn said. “He’s good looking, sexy, and immensely popular. He has a huge fan base. I can’t think of anyone who would be better to help launch your line.”Carolina agrees that Drew is the embodiment of the sexy athletic male that is the inspiration behind her clothing line. The problem is that he once inspired her in a completely different way.His gaze never wavered from hers. “Yeah? So tell me what’s inspiring you, Lina.”His nickname for her never failed to make butterflies dance in her stomach. Or infuriate her, reminding her the way that nickname sailed from his lips that one night they’d spent together. That one and only night, before he’d walked out on her life as if she’d never existed. As if what they’d shared had never meant anything.I love the commitment the author gives to each installment in a series, always fresh and unique. She assembled the prefect power play – amazing characters, incredible dialogue, and an astonishing HEA.Disclosure: This ebook was provided to me free of charge for the sole purpose of an honest review. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Jaci Burton is getting better and better!Another hot and sexy story about sports, people and what bring them together.Carolina Preston is a wonderful and delightful heroine as Drew Hogan is an adorable hunk. We can't help falling in love with them, their story, their past and what will happen next. The fact that we can see a glimpse of other characters and what they are doing is a plus for me; I love how the books are connected even if they can be read as a stand-alone.Can't wait for the next one :)
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION’s Vivacious Valkyrie – Marta:*eARC received by the Publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest reviewJaci Burton writes books that are without a doubt sexy, romantic and full of characters to fall in love with. This is the latest in her Play By Play series which is set in the world of sport and this time she's exposing a certain ice hockey player to her readers. If you haven't read her books before then maybe start with The Perfect Play but this story can be read as a standalone . Eight years ago Carolina spent one blissful night in the arms of the one man she had always wanted. Drew was celebrating his graduation and couldn't believe his luck when the enchanting Carolina said she wanted him. He'd always avoided her as his best friend is her brother but that night lust and alcohol just stole all his good sense. Carolina was devastated when in the cold light of day it was obvious that to Drew it was just a one time only thing. Now she's making a life for herself and the one thing she doesn't need is any reminder of her past mistake.Carolina is trying to make a name for herself in the fashion world and asks her brother to model for her. He's happy to help but before she can stop him he contacts his best friend Drew to ask him about modelling Carolina's clothes. Having a sporting icon would be good publicity but the last thing Carolina wants is to spend any time with ice hockey professional Drew. Problem is Drew seems more than happy to help and Carolina can't help but feel that he's trying to manipulate her in some way. Drew realises that he behaved like an immature idiot in the past and wants to show Carolina that he's grown up. Working together could give him plenty of opportunity to show Carolina that he's changed and if he's lucky maybe he can get the chance to show her that he's now ready for something more meaningful. Drew is still the man that Carolina fantasies about but there's no way she will let him break her heart again. Yet Drew is constantly surprising her and Carolina starts to see the man that he has become. Will her family accept him in her life and just where are they heading? There's no denying the passion between them but can Carolina really forgive him? This is the seventh book in this fast paced series and as usual it's a very heated tale! This author writes books that are definitely hot enough to melt ice! A steamy read is always guaranteed when you buy one of these books.Absolutely gorgeous cover that will certainly attract attention and characters with heart that readers will care about. This book will certainly make any reader smile as the hero Drew pursues his lady. Luckily she stops running long enough for him to catch her!
