About this audiobook

Mina Grime discovers that all is not fair when it comes to the Fae and their tales, especially when they don't all play by the rules. Barely surviving the Story's first fairy tale quest, Mina still has hundreds to go before she can end the curse on her family. But a new player arises to challenge Mina while new rules revamp the game she has just barely begun to understand. All the while, people are mysteriously disappearing, including Jared, whom Mina must finally determine to be friend or foe. And with the loss of her greatest weapon, Mina must try to outwit a lethal hunter. Can Mina survive the most difficult quest yet while protecting those she loves from falling victim to one of the deadliest tales of all? Or will she become a pawn when she strikes a bargain with the Queen of Fae?

Not as exciting as the first book, however the ending did made up for it! It caught my attention and I just need to know what will happen in the next book.

I loved the story line. Chanda is a good writer. Just enough twists and turns. I’m 65 and I am thoroughly enjoying these stories. I love the characters. I am listening to the audio. The person reading the story is perfect!! I am already recommending these books and I am anxious to continue to listen to them.
Thankful for a fun-wholesome series for any age!!

Sad and happy at the same time. Good reading but I cant’t decide if I like the ending.

While I enjoyed the second book of this series, I was like others very disappointing. The first novel was imaginative and gripping, it felt like this one was subpar in comparison. I suppose the very obvious "plot twist" was meant to board some lessons for high school readers...but I felt this could have been achieved in other ways. I did enjoy the narration of this book and feel it was its saving grace.

The second book in the An Unfortunate Fairy Tale series, Fairest, finds Mina Grime tackling her most difficult task yet - being the villain of the story. Mina has had a hard couple of months since she found out her family history, started her Grimm quests and finally had her crush on Brody Carmichael reciprocated before the Story took it all away and rewrote everyone's memories. Like the first book, this is perfect for younger teens featuring a variety of fractured fairy tales with some amusing changes. Like the three bears being Chicago Bears. The story moves at a rapid clip and has lots of action, drama and entertainment.Mina is a super relatable character. She's likable and heartfelt and often quite funny. Even if she doesn't mean to be. I felt really sorry for her though. Being sixteen is hard enough without the nightmare of her first boyfriend completely forgetting her. Although Mina struggles with her feelings I liked that she did try to be mature about it all - even if she did make a few mistakes along the way. You know, like accidentally killing her best friend with her own jealousy. I completely understood her feelings about Jared though. His constant hot and cold was maddening. I wanted to just shake him myself to get some answers. It was annoying all the Fae judging Mina for failing when they refused to give her any actual information. I was impressed though with her deductions about who Jared actually is - the son of the Fae Queen, as well as the Grimmoire - and her insight into Teague (Jared's brother) being the Story! And hot damn! Her play at the end about a way out of the Grimm curse and bringing the fight to the Fae was masterful. I loved it. A fun and entertaining fractured fairy tale with a great main character. 4 stars.

Overall a good and fun read. Mina is stuck in the past enough to still be hyper-focused on Brody. This makes it a tad repetitive at times. Romance between Brody and Nan seems a bit forced and awkward.

In the continuation of Chanda Hahn's Unfortunate Fairy Tale series, this book tackles the story of Snow White (among other things). It's interesting how Chanda has integrated fairy tales into a completely unique story. And Mina has a lot of lessons to learn (which means she doesn't always get to be the hero of the tale). I know a lot of reviewers complained she was moody, but I felt like she very much acted her age, and yes, there was some moody behavior, but it fit her and the story. Overall, I'm loving the series and it very much holds up to what I remembered about how fun it was. I highly recommend it to fairy tale lovers. Also, the narrator does a fabulous job voicing all the characters.

I really liked this book. It wasn't what I expected after reading the first one. the author kept it surprising. I really liked the way the friendship between Mina and Nan developed and how they had to overcome some issues that are typical with teenagers. Great book! Can't wait for the next one!

Not as good as the first book. The writing level is the same so expect the same grammatical issues and typos as well as very simplistic writing. The characters are the same shallow caricatures as the first book as well. But the thing that really stood out for me in the first book was the cool retelling of fairy tales, which this book lacked. The retelling was very simplistic and predictable in this book. The whole thing just wasn't as imaginative as in book one.

    Simply Just Amazing

As this series goes on, I just keep falling more and more in love with it.

Fairest was amazing, and just so fun.

I love the twists and turns, the half-truths and how nothing is what it seems. I really like how even though Mina is supposed to be the Hero, isn't always the hero in her stories.

    Evil Queen anyone?

This is a hard test for her, and she ends up paying a very deep price for it. I was angry at her for being selfish, but what teenager isn't?

My anger dropped when the dragon appeared, so happy about the dragon! XD

The twist at the end, nice, wow, and I was like HOLY SHIT did not see that coming.

So excited for this series to keep going and going!.

I was actually sort of disappointed in this book. I liked the first one (Unenchanted) a lot more. The development of the fairy tale seemed to take forever. Also, the amount of typos and grammatical errors was frightening. I'm not sure why so many of these books (especially on Kindle) are not being proofed. If you can read beyond the incorrect commas, semi-colons, and just plain wrong words (than instead of then, etc) , then you're in for a decent read, but not a great one.
