Having grown up in the country, these stories brought back many fond memories of closely related adventures.

Slow starting but the usual good stories.

I think I just don't "get" American humour. I was given this book with a "funniest book ever" recommendation. Some of it was mildly amusing in a pie-in-your-face sort of way but for much of the time I was irritated by the total reliance on exaggeration to make an impact. Not a book to go to for clever wit and subtlety, but if slapstick OTT humour is what you want it is here in spades.
