About this audiobook
With secrets she won't address, Beaux is far from your ordinary woman. Determined to keep her distance, she's willing to pull Tanner in closer and hide behind the sparks flying between them. But as Beaux's past begins to put their relationship-and their lives-at risk, Tanner's determination to find the truth puts them both in jeopardy.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This is the 7th book in the 8-book series titled Driven
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This just wasn’t interesting enough. Yeah, there was a little push and pull between the main characters but the central conflict just wasn’t interesting or large enough to really keep me wondering.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Horrible story. I could barely make it to the end. He drones on and on and it’s hard to read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Hurry up and wait. You are waiting expecting something, anything to happen. Secretly you hope so. And very soon. Whatever happens, it needs to be big. It needs to be brash. And you are the very first to know. This is the life of an embedded reporter. Just watch the evening news. Days even weeks go by with nothing but status quo. Then the big news. It's all over, sudden, terrifying. What a rush they must feel after being so tightly stretched like a piano string.
"Are you on a suicide mission, now?"
To the unknowing person, Tanner and Beaux have landed themselves in hostile territory on purpose. No one trusting anyone least of all those who you think you should. Tanner and Beaux first meeting is explosive. Once it's the morning after and plans are revealed, each one of them is untrusting of the other. Yet, there is an attraction. Ms. Bromberg allows her characters a careful dance, each giving just a little, earning maybe just a little more trust. Or do they really? The first half of the book as the reader you feel the slow burn of this tightrope walk the relationship builds. Just when you think they are headed to a HEA, well, life has other plans for them.
And I am breaking the cardinal rule of review writing. Review the book that was written not the story you wanted. I did like the book. As always K Bromberg delivers solid writing and story. But, I think this could have been better. Different. In teasers, Ms Bromberg alluded to this book was a departure of the norm for her. And I wish that Beaux would have stayed dead. Yep, kill the main character. Now that would have pissed off maybe a lot of her fans that expect the HEA. But that ending felt predictable that she really wasn't dead. So, yell all you want that I have a cold heart, but THAT would have been a complete departure I was expecting.
If you are a K.Bromberg fan, she delivers on her writing and story telling. Yes, it's a departure from the 'norm' as it's slow, underlying tension driving the story the characters live in. If you are a new reader, this is a bit different from her other books, but still a very enjoyable read. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This isn't a book I would normally read. However, I have been wanting to read a Bromberg book. I figured, why not start with this one!
Let me start with saying that this isn't a book I would normally read. I am not one for romance and sex in stories. Yes, there is sex in many books, but this is SEX. And a little too much for me.
Let me back up a little bit... This is a story of two people thrown together in another country during hostile times. One who is torturing himself over a recent loss and the other assigned to work with him. Obviously, this is a recipe for a twisting and turning, back and forth relationship between these characters.
I liked the writing in this. I was able to read it from start to finish without getting bored. Bromberg has a wonderful way with words. She sucks you in and then takes your breath away.
Overall this is a really great book. If you are looking for some twists, a love-hate relationship and large amounts of steamy sex, this is definitely a book you want to dive into.
