About this audiobook

Ellie Jordan's job is to catch and remove unwanted ghosts. Part detective, part paranormal exterminator, Ellie operates out of Savannah, Georgia, the most haunted city in the United States.

When a family contacts her to deal with a disturbing presence in the old mansion they've recently purchased, Ellie first believes it to be a typical, by-the-book specter, a residual haunting by a restless spirit. Instead, she finds herself confronting an evil that is older and more powerful than she'd ever expected. The dangerous entity seems particularly interested in her clients' ten-year-old daughter.

Soon her own life is in danger, and Ellie must find a way to exorcise the darkness of the house before it can kill her, her clients, or their frightened young child.

I am writing this review of Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper after I have already binge read five books in this series, hmm, enough said, right? I picked up this book a while ago, and I have been saving it for a possible reading challenge read. After several disappointing reading attempts to get a paranormal/horror fix, I decided to give this story a try. I was hooked from the start. Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper was a lot spookier than I ever expected and was everything I ever wanted in ghost hunting fun. At the start of the story Ellie was investigating a possible haunting. She has brought along her apprentice Stacey to see if there was a true haunting taking place at an older mansion in Savannah, Georgia. Ellie was not too thrilled about the prospect of having Stacey around because she did not want an assistant to begin with but Ellie’s boss was looking to retire and he wanted to make sure Ellie had all the support she needed before he was gone. I love how Ellie approaches the ghost haunting business. She is very thorough and knowledgeable in spirits and how to manage them. I seriously felt like she could have been a real person who was a ghost hunter. As it turns out the house was indeed haunted and it was a case for Stacey and Ellie. What they thought was going to be a simple specter trapping turned out to be a much bigger deal than they ever expected. With a family’s life at stake and time running out, Ellie would have to solve the mystery of who was responsible for haunting the estate. There was a mixture of spirits in this story but yay, there were no Casper the Friendly Ghost type of specters. There was true evil in that mansion and plenty of suffering to go around. I loved the twist in this story that took the story from spooky to the type of stuff that could cause you to have some bad dreams. It was extremely entertaining and as soon as I finished Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper I immediately picked up the next book in the series to read. I couldn’t get enough and I read books one through five in three days. I would have read the entire series if I didn’t have other bookish commitments to turn to. I loved every book that I read and I recommend the Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper series to anyone who wants to get their spook on!

The idea of a Ghost Trapper really caught my attention, but sadly the book didn't live up to my hopes for several reasons. Firstly, it's more science than urban fantasy - Ghosts are supernatural but the methods of ghost trapping are very scientific and the whole novel just approached the issue of ghosts in a way too clinical way for my liking.

Then there was the author's style of writing itself, which had several flaws. Namely, a male writing from a female perspective and constantly making comments about carbs, diets and so forth. Maybe in some circles women ACTUALLY act like that, but in my experience even women dieting don't tend to think like that. Again, too clinical. I'm honestly surprised he didn't list the exact calories per meal. My other quibble is that I got massive of details about the house, what it looked like; in nice glorious architectural detail. But the characters? I know the protagonist had dark hair and 'wasn't that tall' and her companion was a blonde barbie doll that was attempting not to be a stereotype, but failed miserably.

Will I keep reading? The story got better as it went on, so if the second books pops up as a freebie on amazon kindle as this one did, then sure I'll check it out. It has some promise, but overall the characters were tacky, unlike-able and the plot extremely obvious.

Ellie Jordan, Ghost TrapperEllie Jordan, Ghost Trapper Series #1By: J. L. BryanNarrated by: Carla Mercer-MeyerThis is an excellent ghost hunting book! Much better than ghost hunters. Lots of exciting stuff goes on, great characters, and great plot! I was hooked right away! Nothing like listening to a haunted ghost tale at night! The narration was spot on! Great job! On to buy book 2!

I got this as a freebie and thought it might be fun. I was not disappointed.

This has sort of a ghostbusters vibe to it, with nastier ghosts. I was wondering where the story would go when they caught the ghost they were after halfway through, but I was pleasantly surprised by the turn of events. It wasn't a frightening read, but it would make one heck of a scary movie! I loved the Georgia setting, the desperate homeowners who were being haunted (although I did want to exorcise Dale a time or two), and Ellie's sidekicks. Worth the time, and I will likely be picking up another of these books!

Set in the Savannah, GA area where ghosts abound, there aren’t that many people willing to go into a haunted house and remove a ghost. And when Eckhart Investigations is asked to remove a ghost that is terrorizing the Treadwell’s new home, the job is quite a bit larger and more terrifying than expected. When it comes to what I know of ghosts, how they handled much of it made sense and the investigation not only gets into eliminating other possible explanations for what is going on, but research to discover who the ghost is and why they might be hanging around. Actually trapping a ghost to forcibly removing them from the premises, though, is a stretch.Told from Ellie’s point of view, what I really loved is that yes, ghosts scare her too, yet she takes precautions and dives right in because it needs to be done and there are so few people willing to do it. The reader is taken along for the emotional ride. The characters are strong and very realistic. And the actual terror? Good one. This story could have you being startled by the normal sounds a house makes, at least for a while.I’m on a quest to read 250 books this year, so to keep the costs down I’ve read quite a few self-published books that I’ve found for free. I don’t give out 5 stars easily, but this is one of the best books I’ve read in the past few months. The characters, storyline, terror and writing style are excellent. I’ll definitely be purchasing the next book in the series.

Ellie Jordan is a ghost hunter with Eckhart Investigations out of Savannah, Georgia. Ellie and novice hunter, Stacey receive a new case of a haunting at the Treadwell house. The Treadwell family have recently purchased an old estate in hopes of fixing it up as a bed and breakfast. Since they have moved Anna, the mother and her daughter Lexa have seen and heard evidence of a ghost. Meanwhile, the father, Dale is in a deep case of denial. Ellie and Stacey stake out the house and do research and find that they have clear evidence of a haunting. It seems like all they have to do is trap the ghost and collect their fee, but this haunting is not an open an shut case. First of all, the cover does not fit this book at all. It makes the book seem like it is a young adult novel and that it might be a little kitschy. This is really a new adult aged novel with no romance and it offers up a solid haunted house plot with engaging characters. I especially liked that for a story about ghosts, it was rooted in reality as much as possible; if you love any of the ghost hunting shows out there, you will like Eillie Jordan. Ellie Jordan is a serious ghost hunter, her past had led her to want to help the living rid themselves of the dead and she takes her responsibilities in earnest. Her partner, Stacey is fun-loving and has great one-liners, offering a good balance. The haunting and ghosts were wonderful. The history of the house, the events that happened there and the purpose of the ghosts made for a suspenseful and gripping story. Though I guessed part of the twist early on, there was more to it than I expected. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the Ellie Jordan books. This book was received for free in return for an honest review.

Hooray for awesome ghost stories. I feel like I’m on a roll finding all these awesome reads for my favorite holiday, Halloween.Plot: If you love Ghost Hunters (the tv show) then you will love this story. I honestly felt like I was in a mix of Ghost Hunters and Paranormal Witness. These are shows I like to binge watch on Netflix. This story follows Ellie who traps ghost for a living. She visits this really haunted house to only discover that is dealing with something a lot darker than what she suspected. The plot is nicely paced with great action.Ghosts/History: I really loved how detailed these parts of the story were. I love to follow Ellie, break into abandoned haunted places and find answers. The searching at the the library, finding old photos, all felt like I was on a mission myself. The history of the ghosts and what really happened is really neat.Ending: The ending is nicely written with a few minor changes to the story. I’m certainly interested in the young psychic who can see the ghost. I think he adds a great element to the story. I’m anxious to see what he will bring in Ellie’s life. Maybe a love interest? Well see. The extra changes at the end of the story only make the story much more fulfilling, leaving the door open for more stories.Verdict: I want more! I can’t wait to go on more adventures with Ellie and her crew. Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper is an compelling yet excellent story. Engaging the readers from the first page, Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper is an success!
